Please remove the trials of Osiris requirement from Solstice

Hey bungie, Can you please remove the Osiris requirement from Solstice this year? I’m a casual player without a dedicated Trials team and pugging it these days is pretty much impossible. I know people here will probably say “get gud” but honestly this requirement requires either great luck in LFG or having a dedicated clan...something that is heavily weighted against players who like to enjoy your game Solo/less difficult LFG pve. Also more importantly it is putting what in my opinion is a major barrier between players who might be interested in buying your ornament (with real money) as I probably won’t unlock it due to this requirement. Just my thoughts...

  • i completely agree with this, seriously i play solo and i've hit this roadblock, i understand the solstice armour is suppose to be hard to complete but this has made it near impossible for solo players to finish, all the time and effort i've put into trying to finish this armour has been for nothing, i have only just got myself to legend valor rank in the crucible so i could give the trials a go but guess what i came across, yep this has completely ruined my play time for a game i was enjoying but am now feeling betrayed by, you can say i'm overreacting but try to think about how myself and many others feel about this whole thing, this is a massive over sight on bungies side and needs to be sorted, this is primarily a PvE game and 70% of the content in the game can be done solo so why would you throw this barrier up for solo players, i feel like i've completely wasted my time with this game and just wish i never wasted my money on it

  • I got back from time off and have 7 days to complete the armor set. I will get all done but the Glow steps. I Haven't played and D2 Raids or Trials or any of the end game activities like pits and so on. So I won't be getting it and won't be bothering with any D2 event in future. All events are getting more grindy and tedious asking for more and more of your time to complete. I work 10hrs a day 6 days a week I have a wife and kid. So by the time im home spent time with my son and wife have dinner and everything else its been a 13_14hr day so IF and thats a BIG IF I'm lucky I get 30 min a night and thats if I can stay awake. Seriously BUNGIE. Weren't all have 1-2+ hours a day to play and with the type of grind involved is it Seriously worth it? Even if the Fckng stupid Armor steps could be bought out 1000silver each would at least help

  • I have never played trials. Just tried 2 games and were put against 2 teams of carries that had been flawless over 50 times... How do they expect casual players to do this?

    • You know they only did it to get more people to play the failing game mode instead of taking bigger steps in properly fixing it

From what I can tell Bungie think trials is the equivalent of a 1080 nightfall. That's actually crazy. But that's Bungie I guess, completely out of touch with their own game.

The Trials requirement is so ridiculously out of line with all of the other glow steps. - I randomly loaded into an 860 Nightmare Hunt at the boss and got that done in literally 3 mins. - PoH takes 20 mins. - Master NF isn't even hard if you're (at least close to) 1080. took about 10-15 mins. It's The ONLY other thing out of the 5 that is even close to "endgame" or "challenging." - Altar is not hard anymore. I don't think it even took 3 to unlock regardless of what it says. Still only 30-45 mins at most. It obviously isn't about "earning" the glows through "endgame" content. It's just a clumsy, out-of-touch way to "force" people to play an unpopular game mode.

        • I agree, as a casual player with alot of responsibilities outside the game I don't get to play all that often. I dedicated extra time for solstice of heroes because o never got to play it in the past and was very excited to complete my first set of armor. I am up to the trials of osiris wins and figured what the hell lets give it a try even though I almost never even play pop and struggled with the first two crucible challenges. I understand that bungie wants people to play everything, but trials is intense and so are the crucible requirements to even unlock a chance at trials. The whole solstice of heroes event seems pretty pointless for me now because of the trials of osiris. I can even understand having and additional crucible requirement like 200 guardian kills with the subclass of the day on, but since it requires trials wins the final solstice set will be something that is reserved only for those who have invested countless hours in crucible and not for the casual PVE player. I really think the bungie should consider changing the requirement to something that doesn't require endless crucible experience.

          • They won’t for various reasons but mostly because they can’t get anyone to play it so they made it a requirement

            • They will not change it bud, but I am sure it is having an effect on player numbers. Even Gladd is asking people to recommend other players to make new friends/get involved etc, maybe he was dropped a wad of George Washington's to help promote. https://twitter.com/gladd/status/1293626809590915073?s=21

I’m personally not really too worried about it. I’ll get the wins in however many attempts it takes. But it’s funny how different the demand is for the Trials part as opposed to, Y’know.... doing something like a bare minimum Nightmare Hunt, haha.

              • Bungie really should require 25 super kills in Trials for each solstice armor piece.

              • You can buy the ornament once you finish your blue gear. All you get out of finishing the 7 wins is a white glow that only appears on that one specific set.

                  • I completed that objective for my Hunter armour - and it was a painful experience, especially on PC with the amount of cheating/hacking going on. It took about 4/5 hours to win just 7 games. I had hoped that by doing the final armour objectives on one character, those same final objective completions would transfer to the next. They don’t! As soon as I learned this, I just turned the game off. Which is a shame because I would have liked the armour on my alts.

                    • I'm with you. Super casual player here and just spent four days grinding out the first two levels of the armor quests. Then I hit the final level with a Master Nightfall requirement in addition to Trials and other impossible events, for me, NOT built for casual players! I dumped it all and now I feel like the time investment was a complete waste! And the opinions of others like "git gud" or find a clan or people to play with does not fly with me. I do not play or care enough.

                      • I played solo for a good while pve mainly and then the vault of glass came out which I thought looked interesting. I knew I needed a team but was really anxious about finding people raid with bit the bullet and eventually joined a clan. The more I played with them the more I felt comfortable making a mistake.. Seriously this game is set up to play as a group - go and join a clan, you dont have to play with them all the time.

You can buy the ornaments without touching trials. As soon as your gear becomes purple instead of blue you can get it. Play the game. Edit: you'll get a white glow if you equip new ice subclass element with this ornament set. Unless they make the energy green. Which I would love.

Locking masterwork version behind trials is a very dumb move. I seriously think someone In the events idea dept. needs to be fired. The requirements every season so far, for certain armour's is never fair to the whole community. @Bungie needs to be fair to both sides, with the option to pay for skin inside EV. Fairness is key. But where's bungo.

                        • I've come to the conclusion that they don't like solo players. I most likely won't finish this either. Between work, family, and a new born I just don't have the time to grind like I used to. Seems they cater to the ones who have no life and/or stream for a living. Also, sunsetting.... "Here's some limited time content, good luck completing it and getting rewards! ....also we're taking it away at the end of the season. Thanks for playing our way!"

                            • If Bungie insists on on putting Trials as a masterwork step, then I'd say it should be this: - Earn 50 points in Trials of Osiris. Each round won gives 3 points, whilst a loss rewards 1 point. Bungie has done similar progression with other quest steps (such as guardian kills reward more exp on bounties). Don't know why they couldn't do the same thing here.

                              • It honestly should just be complete 7 competitive crucible matches. Nothing else in the requirements had you win anything, just complete them.
