Why is lobby balancing still so tragically bad?

    • It just pushes high skill players to six stack because if you go in Malone as a good player you get the most -blam!- teammates

    • Here's what the stats of the average Lobby of 6v6 Control looks like based off current God awful Lobby balancing. Me:2.66      Opponent One: 1.5 T1:1:15         Opponent two: 1.4.   T2: 0.94        Opponent three: 1.25 T3: 0.8          Opponent Four: 1.0 T4: 0.7.         Opponent Five: 0.96 T5: 0.55.       Opponent Six: 0.5 4/5 worst players on 1 team is not only not fun for the lesser skilled but for the "best player". It's such an easy fix and won't change que times and keep low pings. Good players shouldn't be punished Bungie and neither should the worst players in the lobby. The lobby Balence should be this. Me:2.66       Opponent One: 1.5 T1:1:25         Opponent two: 1.4.   T2: 1.15        Opponent three: 1.0 T3: 0.94        Opponent Four: 0.96 T4: 0.8          Opponent Five: 0.7 T5: 0.55.       Opponent Six: 0.5 Look how much more balanced when the best player doesn't get 4/5 worst players. The kds each line are almost identical without sbmm and keeping cbmm. So people are not teleporting around. Games without high kd outliers will be significantly more competitive. It would be a win for everyone playing.

      Because the matchmaking will often put 5 new players or less skilled players on a team with one really skilled player, and pair that team against 6 average to good players. Which results in the skilled player carrying the new/less skilled players while they are being stomped by the other team. It’s absolutely horrible and I don’t see why the system seems to prioritize these kinds of games.

When you have mm where there is no skill-stratification (CBMM), the better players create a hostile environment for weaker players and drive them out of the game. Then the next lowest level of players. And so on and so on. Skill creep has the same effect on mm pools that distillation has on alcohol. It takes some that is at low concentration in the player pool, and starts making it more and more and more concentrated. Until what used to be only 5% of the pool is eventually 75 % of (150 proof). The problem is that many people can enjoy alcohol when it’s in low concentration. Very few people can stomach the taste of distilled liquors straight. So you create a situation that few people want to be a part of. Trials was a perfect storm of design failures as Bungie was believing their own spin about it being for the best of the best. So everything about it drove average players out, and the playlist kept imploding. The same thing is happening in 6s. It’s just taking longer as Bungie keeps doing things to slow the progression. If it weren’t for cross play diluting out the skill creep like adding Coke to rum or tonic to gin? The situation would be even worse. All lobby balancing has done is present the problems of skill creep in a manner that solo high skill players can’t deny anymore. They’re simply getting a taste of the conditions they insist that everyone else play under…. …and they don’t like it either.

        • If you lose a lot, it may not be the matchmaking.... I'm not considered that skilled, but I have a 51% win percentage solo queue in PvP and I do really well solo in Gambit, so it seems fair to me.

          • I am getting so sick of playing against people that are clearly three times my skill level like seriously no way to adapt or learn like you guys like to say on here when it’s just hand cannons and shotgun hunters running stasis playing like their lives depend on this game, it’s just annoying. Also can I stop being put in games that are in progress please that’d be nice.

            • This is probably the WORST I have seen PvP for balancing….its atrocious. Almost every game is a mercy, one way, or the other. Very few close games

            • Because SBMM got removed and it got replaced with CBMM which prioritizes matching sweats with normal people so the sweats can stomp.

              • It's intrinsically bad, it's just Connection based with random 'matchmaking' that no formula could ever rectify. It's intrinsically impossible even on a superficial level. Being matched as chief fly-swotter or alternatively being set up as part of the cannon-fodder squad is NEVER mitigated by others in opposition similarly set up. It's a recipe for idiotic mismatched stompfests on repeat. Want to be little more than an enabler for OTHER players to have a stomping game...sign right up.

                • Bro I've lost every single game today for 2 hours. I look down and most of my team is around a .5 efficiency. I am usually around 1-1.2 using -blam!- bows and linear fusions for the Deadeye title! What's this game?!

                  Because they don't care, if you or I quit this game, we'll just be replaced by two kids with access to their parent's credit cards. If Bungie could monetize fixing their game, it would already be fixed. My favorite thing about PvP is the message we get after the routine blowout loss "we're breaking up these teams to find a better match" ... only to play the exact same players, on the same map lol.

                  I starting playing PvP again after taking a long break from it. There is almost no gun play now. You have push button win weapons that replace supers. I had a guy on my team last night get 50 kills with Lorentz. Then another match with a guy on the opposing team do almost the same with Jotuun. I just finished a match getting two tapped by hand cannons everywhere and shotgun rushed. If not that, I had Deadman’s spammed in all directions. It’s so bad it’s funny lol. I was pretty decent last season. This season I can’t find a groove for the life of me. Guess I’ll just play with scum weapons too for a bit.
