Bungie, Sunsetting is a big negative to the game and community

I'm still relatively new to the game series, started playing consistently since the game came onto Steam. The recent addition of sunsetting is brining a lot of negative aspects to the game and I honestly feel like you could have done a lot better. Firstly; I understand the need to shake up the meta and put the brakes on some builds and pinnacle weapons. The sunsetting of Dreaming City and Moon gear is outright bad, especially when people still need to pay for that content. In the recent TWAB, you mention bringing back a handpicked selection of 4 guns from both locations, and some going to the dungeons. This is not good. Especially for moon gear that only had ONE YEAR of life before getting sunsetted. Instead of just brining back four (4) guns and the armor, just raise the light level of the gear. Or exclude them from sunsetting like you did with Drang and the MIDA Mini-Tool . If a player has to pay for Forsaken and Shadowkeep, only to realize that they're at a disadvantage because the gear is only maxed out to 1060, then that's going to be a massive negative for that player. I understand putting gear down to shake the meta up. Please consider -Sunsetting pinnacle weapons temporarily (either a year or two year sunset) -Leaving Destination gear (Armor, guns) excluded from sunsetting, especially for paid DLC -Consider not sunsetting gear that is no longer obtained (E.g: Black Armory guns, Leviathan gear, etc) Sunsetting can be done well, it can be really beneficial for some people. But currently sunsetting is not bringing anything good to the table, especially when most of guns are not even pinnacles. Please please take the time to listen to the community. Email everyone a survey, talk to streamers. This is not a good execution and right now it's doing and bringing more negativity than anything positive. At first it wasn't that bad to me, but when it hits on how much gear can't really be used, it's not fun. Please consider the time and investment players have made into their guardians, the gear, etc. And please listen to the community. We are willing to ride out whatever you toss at us, but this is not going to be good for the longevity of Destiny 2.

  • You don't even know what's coming in the future none of us do. Fact is sunsetting needed to happen so new things could fall in without having to micro manage everything. Almost thre months and everyone is still whining about sunsetting but we still don't know what's to come. Sorry but most streamers can shove there ideals because 9/10 there in it for themselves and what they want. What they want and I want are massively different.

    • Sunsetting is the best thing they have ever done. Cut bungie some slack, they're underpaid and overworked.

It is really badly implemented, the sunset should be every 3 months turning off the weapons and armor every 3 months, at the beginning of a new season everything you have equipped is eliminated and replaced with blue equipment, that would be an efficient way to manage the game. In addition, everything you had in the deposit would also be eliminated, so we avoid saturating the server

          • Sunsetting has never been about "shaking up the meta" or preventing power creep. Its primary function is to artificially increase playtime by forcing players to regrind for weapons they already own. This should be obvious based on the number of reissues and reskins where the only meaningful difference between the "new" item and the old one is the power cap. The system as implemented is completely indefensible because its entire existence is predicated on lies.

          • There only doing because 1. Armor sunset= more people are gonna buy transmog when it comes out (it will probably overpriced for one piece of gear) 2. They don’t have the support they used to have. Activision no longer backs them so it’s difficult for them to produce forsaken sized content (or there just bums which I see)

Sunsetting forces idiots to play the game. That’s their goal. Keep people playing as long as possible. Keep dangling the carrot and then snatching it away, when we get our hands on it, they dangle the carrot again and again and again. If idiots continue to play they will keep dangling that carrot.

They sunset your gear. Then they give it back to you. And in a year they sunset your gear again. Folks, bungie are the vex and you are caught in a time loop. So f’ing meta well done bungie!

                • This doesn't surprise me at all. Bungie pulled the same crap between House of Wolves and The Taken King in the first destiny. Only there was enough replacement gear to pad the blow. The old exotics the were ''sunset" like Vex mythoclast Dreegs Promise and queens breakers bow were eventually brought back. Except pocket infinity. I miss that gun......

                      • When sunsetting was announced, I was a strong proponent of it and argued with people on here as to why it would be good for the game. Today, I no longer hold that position. Sunsetting cannot be reversed because players who deleted gear will lose their minds, but something MUST be done.

Welcome to "Fantasy Land" my dude! Where everything you earn is just a mirage. When you see even the "New Light" guys starting to post in the forums, you know something is wrong with the game. It doesn't take to be a rocket scientist to realize that the game is 💩! Even a "New Light" guy could see it. Soon they'll join the hive mind here! Bunyon cuts one head, 10 more grows! 😂

                            • They should have at the very least made sure that every weapon type and archetype had a good selection. They got rid of pretty much every kinetic scout and the ones left are nothing special.

In 2014, Blizzard, the makers of the famous World of Warcraft and Diablo franchises came to Bunyon to give some advice. They went because Blizzard was under the umbrella of Activision. The same publisher back then. Blizzard basically came in and said, "Look, here’s our story of developing Diablo III" and then they were saying, like, "Hey, random numbers are not fun—dice rolls are not fun. You can give the illusion of randomness, but you want to weight it towards the player… The only point you have to deliver on is that when people leave your game—because they will—when they leave your game, they need to be happy." Did you catch that last phrase folks? After 6 years, SIX EFFING YEARS! Bunyon didn't learn. It doesn't matter what you are designing the game for. Whether it be for RNG, guns, loot, gun perks, armor perks, armor stats, sunsetting, no sunsetting, etc. The end result should be what Blizzard had proposed. That last phrase. In the end, "they need to be happy!" After half a BILLION dollars, Bunyon didn't learn. Turned half a BILLION into 💩! Up to now, still 💩! 😂
