They sunset your gear.
Then they give it back to you.
And in a year they sunset your gear again.

Do you think that is an acceptable answer? “They don’t need to do better. the same as everyone else is all we need.” That’s a recipe for failure in a product, at work, and at life. You’ve been on here a while and you try so hard to come across as this wise sage that is above it all. Sunsetting has simply exposed that problem in a way that it can’t be ignored anymore. 2. Facts aren’t tiresome. They simply ARE. Sticking to the facts is necessary to keep Bungie on task and allows us to do what we can so that they fix the right things. IOW. Getting rid of sunsetting or getting rid of reused asstets WILL NOT FIX WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE GAME RIGHT NOW. Bungie needs to overhaul the weapon system. Increase their ability to generate loot. Be more generous with both the amount, power and VARIETY of loot. None of which are served by letting us keep endless iterations of the same 50 weapons and 25 perks forever.

The true underlying complaint is that they 1) took away gear and didn’t come close to offsetting the loss. 2) they have the unmitigated nerve to reissue the same gear. 3) people see the nonsense and intuitively understand 3a) something was taken 3b) the new replacements are of lesser volume 3c) they are slapped in the face with reissues 3D) the damned reissues have an expiration date 4) and this is big- the content is extremely light And when the gear expires you are right back at point one in this cycle and will go through 3 d and back to one in a year. Then get slapped in the face with point 4. On top of this the content stinks and is pretty slim. The content has become 2 stories and 50 bounties to kill 10k ads. Bungie has to give something. Either give bang up loot that makes the monotonous grind worthwhile or give content that makes the lame loot passable. Now when you run around here championing sun setting and say it isn’t the problem you miss the point. It may not be the problem but because it was executed so poorly on top of so many other problems it sure as hell is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Now stop repeating this nonsense about other mmos. No one cares. They like this mmo and don’t like what’s been done to it.

They’ve always been either a part of all loot games, or a long-standing problem unique to this game and the poor design of its loot system. A poor design that Bungie is now being forced to fix since they can’t just abandon this game for a sequel when it becomes unmanageable. Sun setting wasn’t [i]executed poorly[/i]. It’s just ripped the blinders off of five years of mismanagement of this game. That pattern of mismanagement is what is responsible for what you are seeing and complaining about.

How about this. We may be talking past each other My point is: this is turning out to be the icing on the cake. I believe you fail to appreciate that. I don’t disagree with the “other problems”. Those problems chased me away from a game I played the hell out of since 2015. Can’t you see though, that this was also done badly and people are just sick of bad decisions at Bungie? What stuns me most about Bungie is they had a hot product and have not properly invested in it.

Yes we are. I’m arguing facts and principles of sound game design. You’re arguing emotions and short-term self-interest. So I’m arguing what I’m the long term best interests of the game. While you are arguing what is in the short term self-interests of a vocal minority of the player base. Which is why this is place is getting tiresome.

Ok well done quick wit. Haven’t gotten the “no I’m not, you are” since 6th grade. Bungie is literally the only company that has an in demand product and decided that they will work less and produce less content to meet that demand. Literally every other company on the planet sees demand increase and can’t wait to satisfy it. Not these dimwits.

And you are doing the typical Bungie forum move of asserting an uninformed opinion as undisputed fact when the actual facts don’t support your preferred narrative. Which usual boils down to: Bungie sucks, and we’re all victims. If Bungie is your idea of a bad actor? You have lived a sheltered life. And no one is a victim of anything here. We’re all here because we chose to be here. It’s just that some of us want someone else to blame when we don’t like the consequences of our choices. That...is what gets tiresome. People are so emotional that they’ve gotten problem and solution backwards. Sunsetting isn’t breaking this game. It’s revealing what has always been broken... because Bungie is finally doing what is necessary to fix them. Bungie just didn’t decide to be lazy. This game has NEVER had the ability to generates sufficient loot. Because this game was literally never built to be played as a loot game or with loot variety as a priority. Jon Weisznewski —-then Weapons Design Lead—-basically said this in multiple interviews. That he wanted each weapon it “have its own personality”. Then he and Josh Hamrick fought the return of random rolls to the game so that it could function [i]somewhat[/i] as a loot game.
