Watercress isn't a network error its a database error. The character database is starting to become corrupt.

For 2 weeks now I have not been able to sign into destiny and do any activity. I can go to the moon sometimes but not run any strikes, quest or adventure. I get kicked right back to watercress error. I jumped on my son's account the same Xbox and no errors at all. He can go anywhere do anything. But when I try on my of my three characters I get kicked out or its the game locks up and then I get kicked out. Again my son's account no problem doing anything. I've msg destiny support and I tweeted the gm and no response. Any game of this size would have a database that would need to have an integrity check but if they don't have downtime how can they do that check? I'm going to delete my titan as its the one I use the least and see if that resolves the error. I've read on other forums that is the action that allows them to start playing. It should not have to come to the community to do the troubleshooting they should have a QA dept for this or perhaps that person quit and it never got filled. Or the person is refused downtime and when this happens he/she gets the blame and its a no win because no one likes downtimes. I work in an enterprise datacenter and I've seen this before not in games but in application database issues. I'll update this for what I find. He then signed into his account and said man that sucks. Did you delete your characters for troubleshooting? Yes, I did and it's not that big of a deal. I still have my armor and weapons and my RHG was total crap forever so perhaps this will help me out. I don't know if my videos to Bungie via twitter helped or my tweets to GM. Or my suggestion of the players coming together in a class-action suit for them pay attention. But I'm glad they are looking into it. Don't delete your Titans, Warlocks or Hunters unless you want to start over. Doing so won't allow you to login. Someone had to be first and I'm not a hardcore player as I once was but if your on Xbox friend me up. Stay safe out there we don't have a ghost to bring us back. NomadicEngineer

  • Please don't delete your character in an attempt to test out a fix for the Watercress error. We are actively looking into the issue but don't currently have a resolution yet. We know it's a result of having too many "player sessions" opened. This basically means that when you quit Destiny 2 your session for that time played should go away, but this doesn't happen for a small number of players on Xbox. Unfortunately, the only [i]current[/i] resolution is to play your account on another platform with Cross Save.

    • I have the same problem for a week, and I do not see anywhere that they are looking for the solution, I think they are not taking this error seriously, the worst thing is that we cannot play for something that we already paid for

        • Let’s see what gets them moving quick smart to investigate and fix this - the threat of players asking for refunds of their season pass spend or legal action as the goods aren’t “functioning as advertised”. I appreciate they’re working from home right now but someone must have an idea what’s causing it and what change/hot fix resulted in the tidal wave of occurrences.

          • I am having the exact same issues. It started last night. Currently reinstalling the game. Made a new account so at least I can play for now. But not happy if I lose my main account. Any info on progress on the fix would make a lot of people happier. Just seems like we are all being kept in the dark

            • Just wanted to add , same thing happens to me and countless others on Xbox -black screen of death , watercress, never make it orbit anymore so completely unplayable. Perhaps of interest is that I can log into and play destiny one (and every other game) So hmmmmm, database corruption or that one silly exotic bounty that I didn't finish on one of my characters?

              • I have seen that link they put out it's garbage, watercress has been a problem for years, seems bungie always blames you the player. When was the last time they were having a problem and admitted it. It's always check this for that and they know it's them. A class action lawsuits is definitely in or this is horse shit they are fixing stupid errors when we can't even log in

              • I also have been getting this problem for the past 2 weeks. I'm real tired of having to quit the build after going through 1 load zone on the moon/tower just to pick up bounties. Or just playing 1 game of crucible/gambit/strike and quitting the build. Especially with the load times on xbl.

              • Ive been havein same problem for the past 2 week to ive message bungo and xbox coz at the time there was a xbox core issue and didn't see any reports on the forums but seen there a few more of us than what i thought they might take it abit more seriouly and stop brown noisein pc players and streamer

                  • The character database is corrupt. Here is what was done. 1. Chatted with MS they had me remove my profile and re-add the profile. 2. Delete Destiny and reload the same (good thing I have unlimited data) 3. Reset the Xbox One X as fresh from the factory 4. I deleted the characters and still unable to login for the past 2 weeks. 5. New Characters can't login. 6. My son can login to his account with no problems. He said I could play on his account since minecraft is more fun.

                    • This is absolute trash. And Bungle says nothing. Even though I do not have any of your issues on Xbox One, I will not be buying any new expansions for Destiny.

                      • Unable to get a response from Bungie. This is what was posted. Update 2.8.0.2 - Water crest 3rd Day STILL!!! This update caused a significant corruption that expanded the watercrest error code. Why can't this be reversed? Only 12% of the player base plays Trials of Osirus. Everyday that passes more players are getting affected. For this to go into days, then weeks makes no sense. Is it possible to ask Activision to help fix this problem? Looks like a helping hand might help the player base get what they paid for.

                      • I have had the same issue for roughly 2 weeks... I am losing my patience and faith with bungie at this point as we are all falling behind with power levels and content. Especially when they are limited timed events. I get they are essentially "investigating in the blind" But look at the twabs and twitter. No mention of it. Only stuff mentioned is stuff that could easily wait for a bit.

                          • Mm..... I could not do it..... I had a bug where no vendor would display anything back on D1. I could not buy a thing from them because of this. It took time to be fixed, like several seasons.... but it got done. I think they were able to fix me at the opening of the Reef. The answer is ALWAYS to sit pull a coat tail every so often, and be patient. They will get you fixed eventually. It is a big game and there is a lot going on thanks to a big dummy calling one of the most deadly viruses the world has seen decades a Hoax for a few months... Hugs for your loss, even though it was not much. I pray you get better drops now for the trouble.

                            • I have the exact same errors as yourself. Can't load a character up at all. My son can play his account on my xbox perfectly fine without any issue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, hard reset, factory reset all to no avail. It's without doubt on bungies end and it needs to be fixed. I understand that these are difficult times for everyone but speaking as a single guy with disabilities this is my only real connection with other people at the moment. I truly hope this is fixed soon

                              Not sure if this is similar to your problem, but after this week's reset all of my shaders and ornaments were gone when I logged into the app after reset, background updating was done I think. After a half hour they came back.
