The character database is corrupt. Here is what was done.
1. Chatted with MS they had me remove my profile and re-add the profile.
2. Delete Destiny and reload the same (good thing I have unlimited data)
3. Reset the Xbox One X as fresh from the factory
4. I deleted the characters and still unable to login for the past 2 weeks.
5. New Characters can't login.
6. My son can login to his account with no problems. He said I could play on his account since minecraft is more fun.

I’m sitting at 3500+ hours and power 1031. Not bad for a severely sight impaired player. D2 is all I play - but not for much longer unless they get this fixed pronto.

I am not going to buy a PS4 to resolve their issues. I can't play this on my xbox one x and it cost a lot of money a few years ago. Its a lot of money now but I think that Bungie does not care anymore about its player base. For me right now might be the time to walk away. They won't care and no one will notice at Bungie. I'll miss my clan because they made me laugh and busting my balls when I got killed in PVP. Good Luck Guardians.

4/4/2020 7:32 am AZ Time I tried to log in with all three of my characters and it would not work (watercress). Someone said they created a new Xbox ID and that resolved the issue. I'm not willing to take that action to resolve their platform problem. Overall I'm just disappointed. I started to really think (as I was breaking down boxes at home/pulling weeds/Fixing the Dyson/ Dropping Cat6 all over our house, hey cat6 is really cheap now) and these issues really started when they broke ties with Activision. Bungie said we want to go in our own direction and I can respect that but what if the QA stopped? Or they rollout code without deep testing? I've never heard of anyone getting advanced content sure they can play at Bungie functions but I don't know if they truly have beta testers. In the world I work in you have dev, test, uat servers. Uat servers are used to test the platform or the application and database and we beat the goddamn snot out of it. Its hunger games but at a hardware/application/database level and this allows the teams to find bugs consider sizing for the overhead of the hardware. I guess 60 cores was not enough, let's double it to 120 cores. Now that's stable and but clocking, how about 180 cores? 180 cores make it snappy. Good, test that for a month and let's get the BCP and Production online. Younger players if you ever want a job where they will never lay you off consider the world of data center management. It's extremely complex always changing and you will always be in demand. I've spent enough time on this today I've got shelves to build in my son's room. The expresso machine needs a cleanout. Drip lines for the side of my house that I am now going to build a vertical garden because you just don't drip water into the ground in Arizona. You want to use it as much as possible and recycle. I hope you are all healthy and mentally well. Now is a time of extreme stress and uncertainty ask your kids and wife (if you have them) are they OK. Call Mom, Dad, family, cousins and ask them mentally are they ok? This has never happened in my lifetime or my parents lifetime. Even if I don't come back we are a very strange community. I've known my clan since 2014 and we are all over the world. It's ballbusting at its finest and they are great people. GodSpeed Everyone.

Update 4/6/2020 1. I tried to login today from a cold start and watercress error. 2. My neighbor suggested that I just hook it up directly to the cable modem since it was easy because I just unplugged the cables I tried it. Rebooted the Xbox and it was the same result. Hey, it's more help then Bungie has given me so far but the same watercress error. Nothing from Bungie not on twitter with my msg or with the videos I find it interesting as HELL that when the streamers were talking about the fixes they didn't talk about watercress or newt and it was right there they skipped it so that gives me pause as a directive? Are they being told don't talk about it? Youtube is starting to fill up with people ranting over it and I feel bad for them. They don't have a job right now or school is on hold and they can't leave. I have projects all over the place and I now have 10% of them done at home. I have 4 engine mounts I'm to change out which means you have to take out 5 things to install a few. It will save me thousands in auto repairs. If your car is older than 7 years get those looked at. For those of you who want faster loading times consider an SSD I have a Samsung 840EVO 250GB and WHEN the game was running everything loaded faster. $61.00 for the drive and the USB adapter is 12.00 (USB3S2SAT3CB) I let the Xbox format the drive and moved the game over it took about 20 minutes. For those who have asked I did cross-save at the beginning and I have PlayStation account its also saved to steam but I'm not willing to do their troubleshooting for them and load it up on my ancient steam account of 15 years (Half-Life 2 anyone or my fav "stalker"). There are people like me whom were fine one day and then they can't sign in. Again this tells me its a database error and if they don't want to admit to it I don't care. I have 20 years of computer engineering and this is what my gut instinct points to. I have a guy on my team, a call of duty nerd he's 45, and I had him sign in with my account and load destiny up (he's got fiber to the house) same error. Being the big database nerd he is he said there is no handshake to the game world. So either the handshake process is dead for you or the database if corrupt but the handshake can be fixed a lot faster than a corrupt database. So that cost me a pizza sent to his house but it was cheaper than actual lunch somewhere nice in Phoenix. A little bit about me I have a background in medicine before I started in datacenters and I reached out to my friends still in the field. I know this is very surreal but take this seriously if you have health problems don't chance to go somewhere you don't have to. Be creative if you need food to ask if there is a shopping service for 5 extra bucks and then spray down the items when you get them. I'm not in medicine anymore because I'm a math guy. I got ready on Jan 20th because the math told me to do it. If you pay attention to math (because it does not care about how you feel) it can make your life a lot easier. HBO NOW is free for a trial catch up on westworld its excellent. Not for young children at all so keep them out of the room. GodSpeed Everyone. PS. To the person who asked about my Xbox name. Don't think a PS4 solves it anyway. Maybe if cross saved before this mess you'll be OK, But I just bought one and bought the delux upgrade (forsaken /shadowkeep /season pass), set up cross save, and now I can't even install it due to "corrupt files"

Nobody is saying to just buy a PS to play. I'm just saying that the issue may be more than they can solve on their own and may be more than a simple "flip a switch and fix it" solution.

The only thing that might affect your arguement, is that the same character data can still be played on other platforms through cross-save. Other than that, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see if any new info comes to light.
