Farming this event makes me appreciate crafting even more

Spending days to get a roll lol. Just proves how far gone this playerbase is.

  • Being able to craft BRAVE weapons is the WORST idea people have come up with, and let me explain why. First, being able to craft the weapons would arguably destroy the need for a grind which this game sorely needs. Second, what fun would it be, if EVERYONE has... Say a crafted Hung Jury with Kinetic Tremors, Rapid Hit, Handling MW, and Corkscrew rifling? It would ruin the possible unique rolls that it can have and EVERYONE would just settle on a single set of perks instead of looking at other perk interactions. Third, these weapons weren't intended to be craftable to begin with, (minus Hammerhead because you could technically craft it back in BA, albeit you couldn't choose the perks you got) Recluse and Luna's were Crucible pinnacle weapons, Succession was a DSC raid weapon along with Forebearance, Falling Guillotine was a world drop, as well as Edge Transit, Elsie's Rifle is just a copy and paste of No Time To Explain, which the model has been in use since Destiny 1. All of these weapons (minus Hammerhead) were NEVER meant to be craftable.

    • I’ve got around 100 Elsie’s rifles and still don’t have the roll I want. I took over two years away from this game because of the sunsetting nonsense and the rigged RNG and after being back only a few weeks I’m not seeing any improvements. This used to be really fun. 🤔

I enjoy crafting because I can run a bit each week to get the req'd red borders, knock out bounties for dust and actually go play other games before the end of the week. Some people are chronically addicted to Destiny and it shows.
Remind me how many sub 60-stat artifice armors the folks who grind Master Dungeons get on their armor rolls.
Pros of crafting: •get exactly what roll you want •easy to grind materials for •saves time •wont feel cheated when someone else is simply using a better weapon than the one you have in pvp •game doesn’t feel like a second job •you can enjoy other games •wont have to grind a raid over 50+ times for a roll Cons of crafting: •gives less reason to play for hours on end •no dopamine effect for the addicts Pros of RNG •dopamine when the god roll drops •replayability Cons of RNG •you may never get the roll you want •you may have to do a raid over 50+ times •if someone has a better pvp roll, they have the advantage •if you want a roll you need to spend hours and hours hoping for a CHANCE at getting the roll you want •you are not able to enjoy other games if you are hopelessly grinding for a specific roll •destiny will be a second job if you want a specific roll and you don’t want to feel the FOMO •horrible feeling when the roll doesn’t drop after playing for days grinding •you are forced to play a specific mode you dont enjoy playing over and over again and still never get what you want which means you have to keep mindlessly grinding the same mode in hopes of getting it etc. Idk about you guys but you must all be delusional addicts if you seriously feel RNG is the way to play the game. Ever since crafting was added, I’ve been able to easily keep up with all the destiny loot, Ive been able to enjoy other games and not feel any FOMO because its fairly easy to get whatever weapon I want to get and use. There is just no upside to RNG apart from the dopamine effect.

          • The grind for Neomuna red borders after the first couple of weeks was far worse than the grind for shiny's.It took me until the 3rd season to finally finish all the weapons. I've got keeper rolls(only 1 shiny)of the weapons I wanted so have been happy with the loot so far.

            • It's so boring, and the Trophies of bravery drop rate is way too low. The juice is currently not worth the squeeze.

            • All seasonal activities that had red border weapons were dead within 3 weeks. Who here still farms the coil, ketchcrash, altars of summoning, defiant battlegrounds? None of you do. All that work Bungie has done, and you all farm it done within 3 weeks to never return. It's no wonder player count died off. You did you 5/5 border checklist and left these activities entirely. These seasonal activities will not last because of this fixed rolls mentality. That's why they lazily just reused pvp maps as your seasonal activity.

              • It's a looter shooter well it's meant to be the whole point is meant to be meaningful loot and for me at least crafting makes guns less meaningful I like that the brave weapons are not crafted. It makes getting a good roll feel special instead of oh yay I can craft a generic gun and choose perks.

                • I'm not saying that crafting is bad, but when they introduced crafting, this game went to -blam!-. Back in D1, grinding was the name of the game. Getting the roll you wanted was one of the much anticipated moments. With crafting, that anticipation is gone. Everyone now just expects things to be craft-able. Everything has a price. Crafting comes with its own downsides. Yes, it makes it easy to get the roll you want. But at the same time, once you get it, you start getting bored and complain that there isn't much to do anymore or that this game is way too easy. All I'm saying is, take the good with the bad.

                  • Destiny’s RNG was designed by a little genius who specialized in gambling rng. I obviously don’t know the details, but generally speaking, when applied to gaming, this type of rng tends to normally distribute expected rewards on a time horizon that is a function of a player’s profile. So it works like a weighted formula. A part of it is fixed, and the other is bespoke to a player’s profile. In other words, it tends to incentivize customers to play with all characters. It also tends to punish a player for playing too much, and reward a casual for playing the game. In essence, it’s the best and most rational formula. Because ultra casuals feel satisfied when they play, and ultra hardcore players get to enjoy the satisfaction of finally obtaining the reward they’re chasing. The downside to it is that ultra hardcore players feel unfairly considered for the time invested, and get upset when casuals they carry get the raid exotic they’ve been chasing for months. Whilst casuals enjoy getting the exotic on their first run, from experience, they also feel very bad for the other players, hence have less motivation to run these types of activities again. It’s not an issue for the business model, since ultra hardcore will continue to play, and casuals will not renounce on buying the next dlc when they know they will have little time to play. However it is an issue in terms of community/cohesion/friendship… as hardcore players end up not wanting to help casuals or inexperienced, because the only reward they get for spending hours helping others, is looting trash armor and watching the people they help get all the loot. It is also an issue for casuals, who end up assuming that they won’t be able to just experience the activity because very few people are willing to help those who DKWTD. So they experience less of the game, and end up not playing as much as they could. The snowball effect on both sides, created an abyss in between both types of fans. That said, Bungie introduced triumphs for hardcore players in raids and dungeons, which pretty much automatically guarantee the loot once completed. Sure, soloing a dungeon might not be for casuals, but most other triumphs only take time. A long time ago I wrote a post suggesting that sherpas who help players complete an entire raid or dungeon receive points that increase their drop chances for currently missing loots. If all end game loots are already unlocked, helping others complete an entire activity would grant percentage points for the next/upcoming end game reward.

                  • I wish I could craft Indebted Kindness as I still have not had a single roll with voltshot. My RNG has traditionally been horrible so I was surprised to pop a Midnight Coup with firefly / kinetic tremors. Not a shiny though lol.

                  • I couldnt agree more. There are weapons, exotics and even strike specific armor i would grind for in d1 and never got. In d2 i wont do it. But crafting fixed that for me. I actually want to spend my time playing the parts of the game i enjoy. Using the gear i like. Not playing some activity im sick of repeatedly until i dont even want to play destiny anymore. I never felt any satisfaction after a long frustrating grind. I felt spiteful and bitter that my time was wasted in such an inexcusable manner. The people who complain about crafting do genuinely seem addicted. They arent playing to play a game they like. They play to obtain the new thing. Which usually just rots in their vault while they chase their next fix.

                  • Agreed. A simple solution to this would be to give you a crafted version with a Shaxx reset. You could reset the rank and the choose which ever gun you wanted to craft. This would give you something to truly work toward.

                    • Having "that roll" is more of a status thing than it is a useful game tool. I mean it's still that, but you can play the whole game with any -blam!- roll, so take the first one you get, and save the hassle of a meaningless grind.

All it's done is remind me how awful the grind for stuff is when you're reliant on drops and a bad currency system. This grind is fine for folks who have a lot of time to play, and absolutely awful for anyone who can only play 1-2 hours a night.
