Pros of crafting: •get exactly what roll you want •easy to grind materials for •saves time •wont feel cheated when someone else is simply using a better weapon than the one you have in pvp •game doesn’t feel like a second job •you can enjoy other games •wont have to grind a raid over 50+ times for a roll Cons of crafting: •gives less reason to play for hours on end •no dopamine effect for the addicts Pros of RNG •dopamine when the god roll drops •replayability Cons of RNG •you may never get the roll you want •you may have to do a raid over 50+ times •if someone has a better pvp roll, they have the advantage •if you want a roll you need to spend hours and hours hoping for a CHANCE at getting the roll you want •you are not able to enjoy other games if you are hopelessly grinding for a specific roll •destiny will be a second job if you want a specific roll and you don’t want to feel the FOMO •horrible feeling when the roll doesn’t drop after playing for days grinding •you are forced to play a specific mode you dont enjoy playing over and over again and still never get what you want which means you have to keep mindlessly grinding the same mode in hopes of getting it etc. Idk about you guys but you must all be delusional addicts if you seriously feel RNG is the way to play the game. Ever since crafting was added, I’ve been able to easily keep up with all the destiny loot, Ive been able to enjoy other games and not feel any FOMO because its fairly easy to get whatever weapon I want to get and use. There is just no upside to RNG apart from the dopamine effect.

  • A looter with no RNG sounds like a bad looter, but I agree that there is very little reason to chase god rolls when most of the time a middle of the road roll is completely viable. Most of the time i see people chasing god rolls for weapons that are 1% better than the alternative you can craft or have a curated roll for. RNG gives a person a reason to replay an event, raid, mission etc. and keeps those modes from simply dying out quickly. If people do not try to get their god rolls or raid weapons through RNG then good luck finding someone to play certain activities with your 1-2 hours of playtime.

I feel destiny no longer should play like a looter shooter and more like a normal game where the best loot is guaranteed to drop whenever players do the hardest content. Crafting solves the RNG issue completely, I rather grind for blue prints to get exactly what I want than waste time hoping for a roll to drop. Bungie can simply focus on creating more and unique weapons instead. Aren’t you tired of getting old loot added back to the game over and over again? I personally want new and unique weapons. The raid weapons all look unique and they are all awesome in their own way, imagine if we had weapon animations or special designs everywhere in the game? Maybe not with god tier perks like the ones in raids but definitely good enough perks to attempt the raids. Im ok with random rolled weapons, I still think it’s great when the game hands you random loot but make everything craftable so when you finally craft the weapon you can simply modify it however you want.

  •
I feel destiny no longer should play like a looter shooter and more like a normal game where the best loot is guaranteed to drop whenever players do the hardest content.
I'm Ok with turning destiny into something that it is not as long as we turn it into a retro first person checkers game? As for why the best gear should not drop right after doing the hardest content look over at Garden of Salvation. That raid is dead. It can take upwards to a couple of weeks to find enough people willing to run that raid for a new player who has never done it before. And it keeps getting harder and harder to find players to play this raid with because people got their Divs in one run and stopped playing. I'd rather be upset at not getting the raid exotic than not to be able to play the raid/dungeon/mission/activity etc.
Bungie can simply focus on creating more and unique weapons instead.
I'd like that original weapons too but that's not a reason to get rid of rng.
Maybe not with god tier perks like the ones in raids but definitely good enough perks to attempt the raids.
As long as you have one of each type of weapon you can do attempt and complete a raid. I have over 400 full clears and i do not use a single weapon that is close to a god roll. Not even for master. Light Level, communication, skill, and ability to learn are more important and if you are bad at most of those then no god roll could save your pickle.
Im ok with random rolled weapons, I still think it’s great when the game hands you random loot but make everything craftable so when you finally craft the weapon you can simply modify it however you want.
A mix of both is healthier for the game. You can currently craft all the normal variants of weapons in 5 raids. But you still have an incentive to keep playing the raid because the exotics are not guaranteed. You also have a reason to jump into Master difficulty of the raid to farm out god rolls of the adept version of the raid weapons.

  • Biggest con of crafting is that it makes non crafted and even adept weapons useless because of enhanced perks

  • Thats true! All bungie has to do in that case is make EVERTHYiNG craftable. Thats what I thought was gonna happen when bungie introduced crafting in the first place.

  • Those aren't all the cons of crafting. Those are just the cons of a shallow crafting system that needs to be refined.
