Into The Half Light Update: Good enough bungie, but lets try not to do this again.

Players hate this!!!
This is a major slap in the face to the player base.
Completely unnecessary for an update that is supposed to bring back the player base.
Nobody likes this type of stuff and they have been vocal about it.
Please make all weapons available on day 1.
This is why nobody wants to play your game.
Edit: This also likely means that Superblack isn't available until all weapons are out on May 21.
(From livestream: There are 2 keys, 1 for reaching rank 17, the other for completing weekly weapon quests to unlock. Therefore timegating everyone's most hyped and anticipated shader.)

Weapons should not be time-gated, Adepts are cutting it I can accept that they are rotatable and time-gated since they get adept-mods big woop. But event weapons that we previously readily had access to not so much.
Weapons is how we engage with content. They are our tools and our incentives to play your content. While they are a part of content as a whole, they do not make up a sizeable chunk of your content. That would be strikes, seasonal activities, crucible, etc.
If your content isn't worth playing, then it doesn't matter what gun we have, we won't engage with it.
The activity you made looks great, very simple and easy to come back to and engage with for multiple days and weeks on end. Timegating the weapons was a poor choice, I'm glad Bungie has improved their roadmap, but please reconsider future releases that involve time gating weapons.
You can only go so far with weapons, but you can go miles with activities.

"Nobody" wants to play this game because they tried to make this game for everybody in fits and starts across the history of this franchise. I used to say live and let live. Pick out what I like and play that, but they've made this game FUBAR, so now, I'm gonna live and let die. Stick a fork in it. It's done.

1 ReplyDon't forget quest throttling. They will throttle most of the quests or all. The fact that you have to complete the quest first to access the weapon random rolls to drop not surprised there.

2 RepliesI guess people don't understand so i will open your heads. So lets say u want just hammerhead, but that is the final weapon to release. So u have to wait 6 weeks to get the weeapon u only wanted u get me right? Some peps only want 1or 2 guns and that's it, so if there gun they want is time gated they basically have to wait for no reason. I understand spreading out is okay but with final shape around the corner we can't be doing repeats(but i'm not surpried anymore).

33 RepliesSomething people fail to remember is how incapable of self-control a sizable portion of this player base is. Sure, Bungie could release everything on day 1 of Into the Light but by the end of the first week it will have been played out and those same people will be complaining they're bored and "have nothing to do." The whole point of this content was to keep us involved until Final Shape drops; if we got everything the first day people would be clamoring for even more long before then.

release all guns —> playerbase spikes, everyone gets what they want in a week, playerbase falls and people complain bc of lack of content release guns thru drip —> people complain they wont get their guns instantly, however playerbase will not spike then fall all at once, instead it will have a steadily increase for a short time with tiny spikes and falls each week you see why they did what they did (the complaining happens either way)

2 RepliesI would be OK if the available guns on the 9th were the other six as I don't care for The Recluse, Hung Jury SR4, Succession, Edge Transit, Elsie's Rifle and Falling Guillotine. This unnecessary time-gated crap is just bad decision, likely by someone that doesn't even play the game. I think 99% of the players want Luna's Howl, Blast Furnace, Mountaintop, Midnight Coup and Hammerhead the rest are ok weapons but not that interesting. Forbearance is already available and I could care less as all special wave frame grenade launchers are about the same.

2 RepliesTime gated content is the worst. Just means instead of playing in a satisfying way, it turns into a mere attendance check, sign on for 10 minutes on Tuesday, then leave unfulfilled only to wait a week and repeat.
