What does bungie have against rewarding it's players?

Chasing armor and weapons can be fun but running 20 master lost sectors to get nothing but materials is a bit ridiculous! Every season it's the same thing!change up mods rerun the same old stuff with different weapons to get only materials! Why is that ?

  • Destiny has been a hamster wheel since for ever, ever since there was not content anymore after the Taking King. And eventhough they finally picked up the story, their content not so much. Do this, do that 6 times and people who did the VOG 55+ and don't have the number one Exotic weapon from that raid yet is just stupid. Create random maps/worlds like other games do, instead of letting people do the same stuff over and over. And if you do, rewards people so it is fun to help others instead of a -blam!- hell.

  • I think it's funny how some players on this post think there isn't an issue with the loot system that it's easy to get loot. Well duh, blues and duplicates drop way too often. I'm sure the OP isn't talking about the petty loot in this game. [spoiler]Vex Mythoclast anyone?[/spoiler]

  • I think everything in this game is designed to extend your play time. That’s all it is. With RNG it’s easy for them bc they can say “hey .. you may get something first try”, which is true. But the reality is that people have to run lost sectors 20 times to get an exotic and other people have 80 clears on DSC and never got EoT. The consequence is that they play more and also keep dragging people into activities that don’t need to play them anymore etc, so it’s a snowball effect where everyone just plays more in the end.

    • I platinumed a 1320 Nightfall yesterday And received a [i]blue[/i] shotgun….nothing else! Wasn’t expecting god roll NF weapons & ascendant shards not even glimmer Just a 🤬 blue shotgun! Boring 4 year old strikes (mixed with some D1 reskins) Why even bother ?

      • Because the longer you spend on the game trying to grind out meaningless gear that'll be nerfed/irrelevant the next season, the better it looks for the share holders and the more effort they can throw into the cash shop/ battle pass its simple math gaurdian, you waste your time, you get 2 materials and a blue (mabey)

      • Just a few simple steps to improve QoL: - halve the materials required to change a gear’s element - remove glimmer costs from mods - allow us to unlock everything in the seasonal artifact - increase materials cap by 2x minimum. These would drastically help the economy, especially for new players. I’ve played the game for years, so I have more legendary shards and enhancement cores than I can count. But most players don’t have that much to throw around. Trails weapons being 100 shards. Everything requiring an upgrade module despite their cost and no efficient way to grind them. Exotic armor taking 3 ascendent shards to change the element of a fully masterworked one. It’s all a bit much

          • I’m feeling this way about Nightfalls. I want to punch streamers in the face for recommending you farm nightfalls for the nightfall loot. It never seems to drop for me. I get exotic after exotic after exotic, but some weeks I can’t get a single nightfall weapon to drop.

            • Bungie pov- if you get what you want quickly then you won’t be playing for as long, their investors and share holders etc are told by bungie look how long our players play for, its sustainable, more money please.

            • Artificially extended gameplay loop to keep players playing. It's akin to gambling. You keep going, keep going, always losing, then you get a small amount of something that gives you that tiny dopamine rush and then you're hooked. You keep playing and tolerate getting nothing because of the feeling you get when you do get something. Bungie know this all too well and artificially extend that to extreme levels because they have nothing else they can call a gameplay loop. Give everyone loot, then they won't play as much and they might not spend as much money - especially when they insist on FOMO and really dodgy paywalls like the 30th anniversary pack. If you stop caring about loot and just try to enjoy the game for what it is, you'll either have more fun or end up playing something else instead.

              • When this first came out, I tried for a maybe 9 clears in a very difficult and boring lost sector and got nothing. Didn't touch lost sectors at all after that until recently, and managed to get all new exotics for all classes across a few days, all dropping in within 1st to 3rd clear. The second time I had paused from destiny for a week or two. The more you play the less rewards you get. Simple but stupid and true. They use loot to lure you, not to reward you.

              • "Come play out muliplayer game" They said. "Team up with guardians and crush the darkness!" They said. But when you got here all they gave you was pillar humping barrier overload teams on master difficulty and if you bring s friend you get no loot. And if you beat it solo you get no loot. Lolololololol.

              • I like the part of doing the master nightfall only to get material like just prism or enhance core but no armor, weapons, or ascended ball. And when I do get one it's just the ball and maybe an exotic but that nothing. So what I experience. First might drop but after 3 or 4 runs nothing, 5th run I get a ball. Now weapons feels like they don't exist. Like the shotgun not one has dropped and I've done I think close to 10 master only one gun dropped and it was shadowprice.

                I loved the idea of those lost sectors at first but I think for sure the rng needs a rework. You should NEVER be able to run 20 and not get a piece of armor. For legend lost sectors, maybe 20% chance for exotic armor but a 70% chance at a prism. For master lost sectors, 80% chance of a prism, and also a 10% chance of an ascendent shard, but a 50% chance at exotic armor, and THEN add another layer...said armor, if it drops, has a 30% chance to drop with a high (65+) stat roll. That way, you're almost always getting at least a prism, and you'll get exotic armor more often, but because you're getting it more often you may have to run more lost sectors to get a higher stat roll? I dunno, that doesn't seem perfect but y'all get the idea.

              • Its because Destiny lacks quality loot. Existing gear/rolls that have value must be rationed scarcely to make them last.

              • It's easy quick content. Probably why drop rates suck. Maybe they could add a multipler based on consecutive runs or speed of completion. Anything to improve the odds. I'll work for it if you're willing to reward my efforts Bungie.

              • I actually assumed this was how it was meant to be. The legend lost sectors have great rewards, but I've done master lost sectors a few times now to see if I could get a better roll on some exotics, but I haven't had a single one. I think I've probably done about 10 in total, but yeah not a single exotic. Idk, I thought it was just me, then I figured it was meant to be like that & that the real point of doing them was for the triumphs. I'll probably just go back to legend ones.

                I mean, they DID literally just rework trials to make it practically rain rewards compared to what it used to give. But I do agree. Patrols and lost sectors should be more rewarding. I guess they just haven’t gotten around to it.

              • I live by a rule when doing lost sectors. Don't do more than 5. If you don't get it to drop by your 5th run, it tends to not drop that day. We've done 10, 20, 30 runs in a row with nothing so I learned to never do more than 5

                Dang, ran it the 1320 sector 10ctimed today and got 2 exotics. Just luck of the draw.

              • Same can be said with Vex. quote me when I say, the lower play time you have and the fewer runs of raids you have overall increase your chances to get vex. I have a friend that just started a few weeks ago and he's gotten Vex twice now. I have close to 5000 hours in the game alone and I've gotten nothing. Approaching 40 clears and some people have close to 60 with no vex. Multiple master clears and no reward? Okay bungo. If you do master, give it a 50/50 shot to drop. Its not as easy to do a full clear unless you mindlessly grind like I do and are sitting at 1355 only 5 weeks in. Tired of the dogshit drop rates of raid exotics.
