Just a survey for devs to see what they should be focused on.
Edit: I've been reading almost all the posts to my poll, and really am enjoying the engaging argument. Yes, I realize the forum has a bias towards PvE. Not much I can do about that. It is what it is.
What I am pleased to see is the COMMENTS seem to be relatively equal in PvP vs PvE...and that was my hope.
Is balance in PvP hurting PvE? Should D2 PvE be a deeper RPG experience? What other games handle this marriage of PvP and PvE well, and how are they able to do that? Is PvP being held back by lack of engaging content?
While most will blame one side for the other's demise, the long and short of it is that Destiny 2 is HUGELY popular...and has been all the while with a marriage of both PvP and PvE...even creating a new genre of game that combines then both, with Gambit.
What I feel Bungie needs to do is continue engaging all three sections of the game equally. Seasons should simply rotate the focus...so each get a large content drop when it's their turn.
As far as balancing the game, they should stop trying so hard. Balancing doesn't mean make EVERYTHING the same. It means making everything have POTENTIAL...if you use the right combination of mods, perks and play styles.
I just don't know if Bungie is slowly killing off PvP to get people to engage with their next IP or are they just struggling to get the right people to fix D2. What I do know, however, is the struggle is real!

While I'm not a big crucible player, I still think crucible is a core part of destiny. I'd hate to see it go away.
-
No, but PvP keeps the game going through dry spells. It is 100% needed
-
Yes. We PvP players deserve our way of fun, same as PvE players. We're Guardians Too
-
I would finance facebook ads how the game is bad if this happens
-
yes, in a heartbeat. why would i stay? for the story? for the seasonal power grind? for the raids i don't play? i play this game for 2 things: fashion & pvp. all pve is mind numbing, unskillful & boring. the story has never been good, I've never cared about any of the characters after how many years with this franchise?
-
Sales will drop drastically if they drop pvp lol
-
I'm a PvE purist, so PvP being deleted will not be a problem for me but more of a blessing, but the PvP aspect is so rooted in the lore of this game that getting rid of it would just make no sense (unless they make some lore book detailing why Crucible, Gambit, and Trials will be canceled). If Bungie does remove PvP, at least I can do my catalysts and quests without PvP requirements gatekeeping them.
-
No I'd never leave for something so trivial. People tend to forget that Destiny is a primarily a PVE focused game. The crucible is literally a side mode and shouldn't define whether or not you play the game.
-
Nah, I wouldn't just play as much. Maybe like once or twice a week? IDK. But I would slowly start to lose interest and just continue playing my other games. The main reason I'll still play is because I've spent wayyyy to much money and time on this game to just drop it easily. I have to at least get my moneys worth out of it. Then drop it.
-
Dropping PvP would only work if you had tons of PvE content.
-
What happened to the people who did both? Like I have 230k opponents defeated I'm pvp and 2200 raid clears?
-
I don’t play enough PvP to care if Bungie removes Crucible. If they do, I would miss the post-PvP loss forum posts. They have provided so much entertainment on this forum.

Edited by Seoul: 5/6/2021 9:48:21 PMYes, I would. The forums are generally filled with PvE players so the results are not surprising.

Edited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 5/7/2021 1:19:02 PMThe inherent mistake is the assumption that there's a split in focus to begin with. Where are we, soon hitting 666 days without new or even recycled pvp maps? Years of rampant cheating without much results to show for it's prevention? I would actually love to see pvp removed completely, with the inevitable slow ensuing realization from the pve community that the content quality is still the same (= bad) along all the lazy development practises bungo's solidified as years've gone by. Or maybe not. Maybe there'll be the next scapegoat, or simple denial as the next cashverse check dings in.
-
I asked this a long time ago, same result. I asked it in the reverse direction, would you buy a PvE only version of Destiny if you could. This isn't some new opinion, shift in the demographic. The majority of players have always prefered PvE (but the PvP people will deny it hardcore sometimes)
-
I would loose the incinsetive(?) to play more D2 if it became pve only game. I have Anthem if I want just pve stuffs. Besides, the pvp mode had been in Destiny since beta back in 2013. And I thought it was cool to duke it out on other gaurdians with using supers and weapons that I had acquired from pve activities. And for me to just get away from the pve humdrum.
-
Yall should hide yr pvp stats just cause it explains everything. Pve is such a joke all yall do is find glitchs or cheeses .people cant even do pve the way they intended its no lomger fun .You always need xeno or some pve meta .On top of that pve players from my experience tend to be way more toxic than pvp players .Not once have I played with a pvp player and get screamed at.

Here's what I love about the pvp mains. We've gone XXX amount of days with no new maps! Oh my gawd did you see that new armor?! It looks sooo stupid These weapons are just reskins! Are you kidding me Bungie?? Stasis is Soo broken! Roaming supers are sooo broken! Hard light is sooo broken! I can't camp with my shotguns! Shotguns need to be buffed! Oh my gawd nerf abilities! What is this a space magic shooter?! Oh my gawd arbalest keeps killing me! Nerf it! Oh my gawd sleeper is so broken! Oh my gawd queens breaker is so broken! Why can't I just queue into a pinnacle pvp activity with randoms?? My favorite streamer said XYZ and I think this needs to happen! Raaa raaah raaah. That all goes away if pvp was dropped. That part of the community can play doom, quake, overwatch, CoD, Battlefield, unreal tournament, halo, whatever. Bungie can make quirky guns and weird effects without having to worry about how anything would interact in pvp.
-
I'd actually like it if pvp was gone because then pve mains wouldn't be punished by all the nerfs to anything that's meta in the crucible

Regret
Cater to casuals! - old
The pve content is so minimal there would be nothing to do for 11 weeks of a season -
Imagine thinking Destiny would be better without pvp. Not being good or not liking something isn’t enough to remove it. Pve is what attracts people to Destiny. Pvp gives people something to do when they are done with pve. You really think people are gonna do strikes/seasonal activities all day? How is LESS better?
-
Nope!!!!! At this point, it can go to hell. No SBMM, it is dead to me.
-
Am leaving Destiny when Necrogen opinions will not just the formality. Change my mind.
-
Leave clash and mayhem, no balancing just a side hustle. Focus on good raids and PvE content.
-
If Bungie is reading this, FEEL FREE to get rid of PvP. The decision to make The Crucible connection-based instead of skill-based completely screwed it up. Yes, you avoid the occasional frustration of missing somebody that you should have eliminated, but the overall experience went into the tank. Without skill-based match-making, the fun has just gone out of The Crucible. Who enjoys getting their butt kicked 9/10 games because they're not getting in with a crowd at their skill level?
-
I would come back and play a lot more other than an HR or two a week
