So recently I found out that bungie is sunsetting all the pinnacle wepons in the fall expansion.
These wepons take hours or days to get just to not be able to use them. This is frustrating I mean why even grind out wepons.
90% of wepons are being sun setted so all your god rolls will be unusable you will have to find new wepons
Like how is this going to be better for destiny??
Bungie Why

With the best guns getting shifted out new metas will come into play and every season might be a slightly different meta based on what is sunset and what new guns have come out. Pinnacles can still be used in strikes where recluse and mountaintop will shine. Luna’s howl and nf are still good in crucible same with mountaintop. Breakneck is fine for pve and so on. They still have purpose.
-
Thing for me is it took me a year to get some of my guns, Luna. More that for not forgotten. And say Mindbenders with quickdraw took me literally up until two weeks before they announced sunsetting. I can see them release guns, say you have a year to acquire and use them and me getting the guns i want on day 363. And then it gets sunset. So I'm really not putting much effort into chasing guns when i return to destiny. If it's not dead easy to get day one so i can use it all year i'm unlikely to put any time into getting it. And if that means i can't compete in crucible well there are other games.
-
A massive problem is vault space. Because i have none. And now i will still keep my old guns. Like i'm a pvp player so i've no reason to delete my beloved unless a better gun comes.
-
Cause you can use and enjoy them for a good amounr of time. Even most things aquired in the real world are not there forever. Tvs, cars, clothes... just to name a few. Still people want them and even do real work to afford them.
-
because you enjoy playing? if you have fun playing it won't be an issue. sorry, what was i thinking, no one plays for fun anymore. its treated like a job now.
-
Lol we've had them for a year already, they're boring.
-
Because you can still use them And because it takes a year for them to be sunset
-
Definitely feels bad to have them go
-
For me the challenge to get any of them was fun. I only use mountaintop in private lobbies, I rarely if ever use NF, and recluse is just an ad clearer. It was cool just to see if I could get them.
-
I'm happy mountaintop is -blam!-ing off. I'm not happy to be losing redrix.
-
Not Forgotten was the last pinnacle weapon I was grinding Survival for. I quit immediately once I heard about sunsetting. They literally removed any incentive to play Survival at all. It's hilarious.
-
My opinion.... they are doing this for a variety of reasons, including ... allowing us to keep our best gear makes it harder for brand new PvP players. The irony of that is that with SBMM, it wouldn't matter. If Not Forgotten or Recluse gives a player an advantage, it'll be reflected in his skill rating. Beginners and lower skill players wouldn't be affected. But, CBMM throws it in literally everyone's face.

Edited by Major-Payne: 7/8/2020 1:40:18 AMIf you gave a shit in the first place you would have done them 2 years ago. Right? But now you have the energy to be all concerned when they are getting tossed out. Smh
-
I lost my will to do LH and NF midway when they were nerfed. I can't think of a reason to play survival or crucible in general anymore if grind results in useless gear.
-
I still think introducing pinnacle weapons the way that they did was a mistake. They've been a major reason why the Crucible is seriously unbalanced. Should've been exotics so you wouldn't have to get stuck against some really ridiculous loadouts all the time. That might've also saved them from sunsetting if that were the case. And Felwinter's Lie may as well be a pinnacle too with its unique intrinsic perk. Call it a "ritual weapon" or whatever you want, but to me, that perk makes it the same thing and puts it at an advantage over many other shotguns. They didn't really move on from pinnacles the way everyone thought.
-
Pinnacle Weapons is the reason they made sunsetting, if pinnacle weapons did no exist, well thats another story.
-
So u could use them for 2 years?
-
As someone who finally got mountaintop yesterday, it’s worth it.
-
At this point Not Forgotten should just drop from opening engrams from Shaxx because of the sunsetting and the insane nerfs weapon received.
-
Since Pinnacles and Rituals aren't in the cards going forward, Survival is essentially going to be a floating playlist with no incentive other than rank up drops
-
This is the thing I disagree the most with sunsetting. Pinnacles and rituals require much more time investment and more hoops to jump through than some rng luck of a drop.

You grind out weapons so you can have them when they’re good and get use out of them before they are sunset or nerfed or whatever. Spare rations for example, I grinded for this gun more than anything else I have ever grinded for in destiny. For a few months the gun was completely dominant in crucible - the range of ace of spades but faster firing, legendary, and offering more perks like rapid hit and kill clip. It was unbeatable, the strongest primary the game has ever seen for crucible. It’s still top tier now although not quite as good since the range nerf, but no matter what it is getting sunset in the fall. Do I regret spending 30+ hours grinding for it just for it to be sunset? No not at all. Because thanks to me putting the time in, I got to use it in its prime. If I had known it was getting sunset I’d still have grinded for it just to have for the few months of it being so good. Destiny has a trend of making things easier to get over time and rewarding those who wait. For example seasonal exotics ending up obtainable from the exotic cipher, seasonal legendaries ending up very easy to grind from umbral engrams, dire promise going from costing people thousands of shards to being in the world pool. But the thing is if you wait for the stuff you want to be easy to get you wont get as much time out of it. You grind so that you can have the good stuff when it is good. Imagine if you had known a year ago that sunsetting was happening so you opted out from grinding out mountaintop so that you didn’t waste your time. So you get to save your time, but you are willingly handicapping yourself by choosing not to get the best special weapon in the game for PvE. If you just put in the few hours to grind out the quest you’d have a year with a phenomenal weapon, even if it’s “just a year”.

Bit late there champ, they've been taking about this since February. Still glad you've finally seen the terrible.

What time is it?. . . . . . It's PARTY TIME!!! When it stinks . . . follow the smell of money! Sunsetting is about "Money." It's not just about guns and gear. That's only superficial. Reasons to sunset guns and gear are the ones you see in the surface. That's what they want you to believe. The main reason with sunsetting is to get you on the program and to get you to stick to the program for good. That's what this is all about. It's all about the money. The future of the game. Why do you think they showed you their plan in the next 3 years?. . . To get you to stick to the program! And what is that?. . . Throw your effing Money on the screen for the next 3 years! That's Digital Slavery at it's finest! Before, you're just running the hamster wheel grind, season after season. Now, Sunsetting slaps a chain on your neck while running the endless hamster wheel grind in perpetuity! I don't know about you guys, some people might like that. But I don't. I'm out! Quit 2 weeks ago. Dropped the game and never looked back. Not dropping a cent on this Digital Slavery bullsh*t! Adios Homebois!!!

Imagine how pissed-off the people are who paid for carries on some of these weapons lol
-
Because you can use them for about a year when you get it if you are getting everything when they come out. Who the F$%k wants to use the same weapons for 3 + years? Lol
