Buff Auto Rifles in PvE( Especially 450 rpm)

Since Shadowkeep auto Rifles have become more useless than ever. Before shadowkeep we can still count on crit to kill ads, now that crit were nerfed A LOT every ennemy is a bullet sponge when i use an auto Rifles. I must use à specialist mods for redbar ennemies ! I have the godroll of the Forge auto Rifles, i use it a lot and now i can't even use it with My Firefly specialist because of your nerf. I know they were OP in Y1 and i don't want to go back to this. In Y2 most auto Rifles were " Meh " but they were still useful. Now with shadowkeep they are in the vault. Auto Rifles needed a real buff since Y2 ( but not a big one) and you nerf it. Why have you done that ? Everytime i play D2 now i see my vault and i want to use it back but... Everytime i use it i remember how bad it is now and i put it back in the vault. It really makes me sad. You killed an entire archetype. " Play as you want " ? Right ? I'm not even mad at you Bungie. After all those years since the alpha, the beta and day one of D1, i'm just disappointed. All of this expansion is a letdown to me. I was always playing Destiny... Now i'm trying to avoid it a lot because everytime i play, i feel like it's a punishment instead of something fun. Open your eyes Bungie. You've gone too far with a lot of things.

    • I wouldn't count on it, bungie has had a hate boner for ARs since Halo 1.

      • Excuse you.... Autos are doing more damage in shadowkeep than before. I do agree they need another buff though. Especially the 360 RPM auto's.

        • The problem with autos is that they just won't ever beat an smg, a handcannon, or a pulse at killing ads. They are just so perfectly made to be mediocre. But what they could do is make all autos a bit stronger at killing majors. Smgs can be the minor add clear, but autos should be the weapon class that tears through tough opponents. They already kind of went this route with shadowkeeps launch but all's it did was make them less punishing for hitting bodies, which the accuracy forces plenty of. Besides that, the weapons just need less recoil. It's so annoying that autos are treated like precision weapons in both pve and PvP, but they have the worst accuracy despite the necessity to be about 85-90% accurate at shooting the head to kill a target as fast as possible. Yes their fire rate is forgiving, but in a gun fight in crucible, that won't matter at all against someone who knows what they are doing. There's just no excuse for their design honestly. But I'm not saying they should make it like pc, I just want to be able to shoot straight without having to worry about the spread of the weapon.

          • Why? Don’t you enjoy emptying an entire mag into a red bar and then reloading and doing it again ... and again? Maybe an exaggeration but not by much.

            • I'll never turn down a buff (PVE Main), but saying that all ARs I've used have been up to the job. Even Hard light, whilst not being the most powerful AR can do the job very easily and it brings the Disco Light Show as well. Seriously picked up a Misfit recently with Stability MW and it was melting mobs on the Moon, which is what I generally use ARs for. But as I said, I'll never turn down a buff (especially for Hard Light ☺).

            • I've literally never encountered a situation where killing stuff with an auto rifle was difficult.

              • I hate auto rifles. But I agree they suck, as is, right now. They'd be more useful for stuff if they were as decent as current state Recluse is for add-clear without constantly needing a damage bonus perk being proc'd

              • I’m all for a buff but I have to say I’m not entirely sure why everyone says they’re “useless”. I use ARs regularly and with the right perks they absolutely shred mobs. Sure, they don’t amount to much against bosses but they aren’t really supposed to. I have a few ARs that are very useful. One has ammo and grenade regen, another has triple tap and kill clip, another with firefly and stability. They’re all very satisfying to use and get the job done.

                • People have been spoiled by Recluse that's the main reason why suddenly everyone wants to kill everything super fast without having to use any particular build or tactic. Autos are still decent it's just that people want even faster TTKs because of things like Recluse.

                  • Personally I think they are in a good spot, been using them a lot more, was useing Pulse Rifles before SK. Trick is to run Kill clip or rampage and use the perk... kill 3 or 4 adds then reload to engage the perk, kill 3 or 4 adds reload..... ect.

                    • Not entirely sure I agree. To be sure, you can’t laser-headshot them like you used to pre-Shadowkeep, but on the flip-side - they go down a lot quicker with body damage. My Gnawing Hunger with Zen and Rampage has performed admirably pre and post-Shadowkeep and will probably outperform the Recluse in the next expansion. I had a curated Ringing Nail that I absolutely loved, but with the critical changes in Shadowkeep found it just wasn’t enjoyable anymore (Dragonfly hardly proc’ing).

                    • For general activites and such they're not too bad. Just don't expect auto rifles to be useful for Raids and high level Nightfalls. They've never ever been good for that. Don't get me wrong: I want them to be heavy hitters. Bungie has never given them the means to be on this level.

                    • Most of it is just Recluse being the only valid option. However, with it being changed so that it actually requires skill, auto rifles will have a place in PvE as medium to short range Add-clear weapons. Especially Monte Carlo.

Pluperfect is pretty good, but yeah I'm having trouble finding any other auto worth using. Maybe if I get a subsistence/triple-tap Arc Logic I'll change my mind, but as it is most everything has shit TTK compared to other weapons types - especially a decent SMG.

                      • I have used Halfdan with high caliber rounds for quite a long time, and can't say it's useless. Rpm's little low, thanks to the perk it is great for flinching everything up to red Knight size, however when a bunch of Thralls rush your way, an smg is really what you need. Or some other auto with higher rpm. On the nerf: i couldn't kill anything with any auto before Shadowkeep, it would take half a mag for one single Dreg, so evaded those guns completely. They are in better spot right now, a much better spot. Everyone i've talked with are saying the same thing, so my advice would be to simply switch to another gun? Be mindful of perks, Sway Reduction does wonders.

                        • I use my My outlast (fast firing pulse) as an auto rifle. Fast firing pulses are what autos should be. I was playing around with it last night, my rangefinder/demolitionist outlast is better at add clearing then my rangefinder/rampage pluperfect at short/medium range, and fffaaaaaaaarrrr better at long range. How does that make sense?

                        • I haven't used 450's much, but I've been using Pluperfect most of the time, and it feels very effective to me. I don't think enemies feel too spongy with it, I often get multiple multi-kills per clip, and they reload hella fast even without Outlaw.
