Loading trouble on Steam

When I try to launch the game it gets to the screen with the animation that cycles through the class symbols in the middle of the screen, and just stays there. No error messages or anything. It doesn't even enter a "not responding" state. I've tried verifying the file integrity and reinstalling it. Please help!

      • Go into your cvar file open it with notepad which should be located under (C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs) find the cvar.xml open it with notepad at the top you will see - <cvar name="force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value="Random" /> Where it says random if your number is on 1 change it to 0 and then make sure you save - reopen to double check it did then relaunch destiny. just tried it on 2 machines, with the exact same problem and its worked on both.

          • CHECK YOUR INTERNET SETTINGS, copy pasting the same message in the top posts about this loading screen crash for visibility. So like you I have never gotten past the loading screen since Lightfall launch. That is detailed here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/262464398?sort=0&page=0 So I just got it working today. I have tried uninstalling updates, reinstalling updates, reinstalling Destiny from scratch, reinstalling steam from scratch, repairing and testing my Windows 10 install using command prompt, even force upgrading my 7700k pc to windows 11, and then resetting my PC into a fresh install of Windows 11, nothing worked... Until I factory reset my router. For the past few months I have had less than a handful of websites not load and recently the Steam store not load initially when starting the app. I messed with DNS, DHCP, IP and IP prefix delegation settings in the past trying to optimize my internet traffic but I clearly made it worse. All the games I am playing still worked though, including D2 WQ. I guess Lightfall if forcing bungie account authentication to go a specific route through the internet and my router settings where just blocking it and was constantly causing the game to crash. Per my linked post, I got my Win 11 pro work laptop with integrated graphics to log-in, my guess is that the combo of motherboard, ethernet /networking hardware, OS settings, and router settings need to be very particular in order to the game authenticate accounts right now. If you guys are going the 'factory reset your router" option, I would suggest to only change the settings you know you need to change, don't change anything that you think will give you a slight bump if you really don't have to. In my case, I have a Ubiquiti Dream Machine, so there are a lot of settings to mess with. Hope this guess more folks into the game, GOOD LUCK.

          • I am curious. So for me, when this bug first took effect it appeared it was because I chose my character at the wrong time. Before the bug took place my character select screen had initially worked. The bug only took effect as I selected my character before their model had completely shown up on my end, and thus the game froze. Did anyone else have a similar experience happen to trigger said bug?

              • Having the same problem this morning! Was playing fine last night. Literally played Destiny and went to bed, turned it on this morning, no longer can play.                       Hey all, had this issue and finally got it fixed. Had to do a fresh install of windows 11 and reinstalled destiny with it. Works fine after that.

                      • I have the same issue. I am able to play on Xbox but unable to play on Steam. I have uninstalled the game, re-installed the game and still cannot play. I logged into both my accounts on steam and cannot launch the game it just cycles as the original poster notes.

                        We've been having this issue in another thread since the launch. All they've done so far is acknowledge the issue but no fix in sight yet. Hopefully soon!

                      • I have this exact same issue. Game seems to hard lock when it tries to load character profiles. Have tried restarting PC, verifying integrity installation . Checked for driver updates. Reinstalled the game entirely as well and launched it through GEFORCE just incase. It seems it's an issue on their end, at least for me. Hopefully they fix this soon.
