Quitting pvp matches isn't wrong at this point

Some people are saying there should be stricter penalties for quitting matches. Sorry, but no. If anything, there should be no penalties until Bungie fixes the pubstomping. It's fine for people to quit because they are tired of serving as cannon fodder.

  • Quitting just means your weak in mind. Every PvP game ever has instances of players just getting destroyed. But most kids grow up these days with participation trophies and scores either don't exist or don't matter because the fragile little brain can't handle a loss.

  • At this point you know what's waiting in the Crucible. If you don't like it, just don't hop in. I haven't touched Crucible in months. Literally, months. Eventually, Bungie will either change things or the mode will actually die.

    • I do this lol. Not that often, but if it's just a bad match for me I just leave and hop in another one. No point of playing if I'm not having fun right? For me I don't get penalized because I think I play enough matches, so I would say it evens out since I've never been penalized. You could say that it hurts my teammates, but I usually just play rumble.

      • Maybe if you spent as much time in pvp as you do complaining on the forums you’d be good. Seriously, look at his stat tracker. He hasn’t reset crucible rank once and wants to make suggestions on how to make it better? Lol

        • This makes no sense. If you know the current state of pvp and yet you continue to play it. Than yes you should be punished for leaving. This isn’t rocket science. Don’t like it don’t play it. But don’t act like for some reason just because someone doesn’t like the state of pvp they can do whatever the hell they want. So just stop playing pvp until it’s in a state that makes you wanna play.

          • Ppl who say there should be penalties in the casual modes are entitled brats. No other multiplayer game I can think of punishes their players for quitting early, at least just in the casual modes. Not to mention there are other reasons other than losing for leaving early, too. I bet most of them are hypocrites, too as I'm willing to bet they left more matches than finished in the golden age CODs.

          • Whole teams that are getting stomped should just leave the match, that will end a lot of stomps and kd farmers. Notice those who want you to stay and take a beating or saying git gud, while they're on full stacked teams using modded controllers and undetectable cheats. Of course they're going to blame you, because those doing above got no real skill and want players not using cheats to take a pounding.

          • Maybe the mercy should proc faster? No point in completing a game where players are 50 points behind.

            • The lobby balancing is just terrible it leads to people leaning. Whatever Bungie uses to determine skill is not working at all

              • Maybe just don't play PvP in the first place. After all, D2 PvP has been abysmal since beta, so for well over 4 years. If you're still playing that garbage, it's on you.

                  • Disclaimer: This is coming from a total PVP noob (check my stats and it’ll show)… BUT even I am saying this: if you are not man enough to finish what you started when you decided to step into PVP, then you my friend, are only compounding to the PVP problems. Granted, there’s somethings which fundamentally off with PVP right now - May it be Matchmaking, Sweats or overall experience, but players quitting a match is something which is easily avoidable, IF ONLY you decide not be a coward and see it through till the end to the best of your ability. And if that last bit doesn’t fly with you bro, maybe best to stay away from PVP and let us play with teammates who fights together till the end. Cheers Guardian.

                  • If you're getting stomped there's a problem on your end and most likely your team...........but no one likes being told they're bad or that they should try and improve. For some people myself included we'll never be the big guys of PvP and that's okay. That said I also am painfully aware how piss poor the match making is. If you manually quit PvP matches however you only open the gate for someone else to join halfway through to deal with the bad match you got a sore ego over. You all talk about being considered but you'll -blam!- over other people and then not care about it. It's dripping with Irony.

The penalty for leaving comp/trials should be far more severe but any sort of penalty for leaving qp is absurd. Sbmm can stay in the grave though.

                        • Well it’s not right though . It’s only really trials and survival it’s a crap thing to do to your team mates . But nowadays most people don’t give a crap only thinking of themselves.

                            • Win or lose, I’m just here for the pinnacle. PvP has, IMO, no rewards that are remotely “must have”armor/weapons relevant to PvE. Those “must haves” died with Mountaintop and Recluse, thankfully. Let the dumpster fire burn itself out and take the hardcore PvPers/paid carriers/hackers etc with it for all I care. Plenty of other games they can go toxify. Don’t get me wrong though, PvE has its own share of meta humping / “have this load out” or get kicked -blam!-. However, at least we can willingly avoid those people in LFG instead of leaving it up to random chance.

                            • I think it's better to rename the crucible to -blam!-, so it will be more honest. I don't remember such trash in PvP since the release of the vanilla D1.

                            • By this point just quitting PvP entirely is the best option.

                            • It happens more now than it ever has. When my team is losing there is always 1-2 that leaves. The same goes for the enemy team when I’m winning. I have even lost my entire team and been in 1-2v6. PvP is a mess and Bungie does not seem to have the talent or leadership to fix it.

As a new light (4 months) and after having been a good boy since the beginning, acccepting to be the punchingball for players way out of my league due too scandalous matchmaking, I ve decided to react ... I just quit. Period. When I feel the inevitable stomping on its way. I quit. And all noobs like me should do the same. Only way to (maybe) get a reaction from Bungie, or even from the said stompers who might begin to understand its also in their own interest to see a balanced matchmaking. Am even inclined to immediately quit when I see in the lobby some teamate with a KD more than 2 times superior to mine as I know it will be the same on "the other" side. Matchmaking should be made according to the lowest KD present, starting at 0.40 till 1.00. From then, and considering your now a seasoned player, normal matchmaking could resume. As an exemple, in a match with the lowest beeing 0.40, none should be above 0.80. Lowest beeing 0.50, none above 1.00. Etc etc, till 1.00 matched vs 2.00. How can it be acceptable to see people with 0.40 kd mixed with people with kd above 3 or more ?! This way a new player on his way to beeing decent, I think 1.00 is a good mileage, would be assured to get a fair training and a good experience. And if the said new player never manage to improve enough, at least he will always have some fun ....

                              • Definitely agree. This is a video game first, and a badly balanced one at that. Quitting should be the norm; digital punishments are laughable and stupid at best.

                              • Bump. P.S. The problem is mostly caused because of peer-to-peer, where one team gets the connection advantage. No matter how good someone is, he's always somewhere running or in the air. But when your bullets don't hurt them, they are Gods ;)
