This has to be the third or 4th nerf to Swords at one point swords were shit nobody used them then you rework and buff swords just to bring them back down again this makes no sense at all
-
Buff Machine guns ffs
-
*Dark drinker with stasis inbound*
-
I can see them introducing a stasis sword that is better than lament or Falling guillotine.
-
Bro, just roll with the shifting meta. It can be fun if you let it be.
-
No matter how many times they nerf swords, people will always flock to them regardless. They are and always will be the superior heavy weapon type in the game compared to the other lackluster heavies.
-
As I said before. There will always be a "flavor of the season(s)," in this game. We can't use the same stuff forever. I remember when whisper and darci were a thing. They want us using different things- and their way of doing that is nerfing and buffing things. This game will never be balanced but it will be fun. I am sorry that the recent patch notes struck a gaming nerve for you and a lot of the app forum community. Yes we would like them to instead buff stuff and leave things as is- but their dev team and leads want it the other way. I myself will just adapt and help others to adapt.
-
It wouldnt be so bad if they hadnt designed the entire endgame around aggressive play and burst damage. They nerf all the ranged options, whisper etc and auto reloading perks or ammo refilling perks. So naturaly, we then lean towards swords and shottys instead of passive sniper play, which is what they wanted, and then they go and nerf the cqc weapons? Seriously, what the actual F@#k goes on over there.

Maybe if Bungie actually played their own game instead of using everyone as a beta tester, there wouldn't be as many unnecessary nerfs. See, originally Guardians were created to become more powerful, and as time went on D2 was created. Now? It's if you are having fun with any weapon in PvE, it will be nerfed, sometimes multiple times to fit our needs and wants, not yours. I've watched Bungie literally go on a nerf rampage nerfing everything in this game as they did in D1 since masterwork cores were changed to enhancement cores. You name it and I bet if they haven't nerfed it yet, it's just a matter of time. Some players think it's just one or 2 things in this game that it's the reason why players are getting tired of the nerfs in this game. it's not, it goes way beyond weapons/gear. They have been constantly nerfing the venders since forsaken When the new stats were added it was a nerf They nerfed exotic gear that the new drops don't come with the added perks Bright dust Then there are things like the "oops, it was an unintentional nerf" The truth is, they are nerf happy and it's one of the things that has ruined this game of the many.
-
They are doing this strategy all the time. This is for new ornaments and grindy "new" activities to make sense. After some time, they choose other weapons to "buff" for one season just to nerf them next one. My guess, other weapon will be linear fusions. Mark my words

At this point outside of mobility, rocket launchers with field prep do most of PVE better than swords
-
I just tested lament against an arc sword in today’s legendary lost sector. Which has a 50% increase to arc damage dealt and taken. The damage output was similar. 16% is not going to kill lament by any stretch of the imagination. It’s still going to be the highest damaging sword for the least amount of effort. Falling guillotine getting its power attack changed to 6 actually makes a lot of sense. Standard swords are 4. Vortex is now 6. And caster has always been 8. Standard swords are the weakest in utility and damage. So it having the lowest ammo cost makes sense. Vortex frames have the capability to do large amounts of damage to more targets than a standard sword. Therefore a slightly elevated ammo cost makes sense. Caster frames have by far the most flexibility by taking away the largest weakness of a sword, its short range. This unparalleled advantage means it costs the most.
-
This is what happens when you don't allow the devs to sunset gear. Nerfing things is now the only way to manage power creep. Which is what would happen if you kept buffing things to match the power of the most powerful items in the game.
-
They're buffing linear fusions. Swords will still be fine.
-
Two Swords in total are getting Nerfed. One with a slight Ammo Nerf for the Heavy Attack, the other with a damage Nerf on the Heavy Attack... not all the Swords. They're still going to be fine/good.
-
I said this to another post already, but I literally calculated it all out; Lost sector boss on Nessus. The sword (lament) does approximately for one combo 117254dmg on its heavy and 92022 on its light, for a total of 209276; meaning that lament’s dmg is roughly split 56% in its heavy, and 44% to its light. Remember, the nerf of 16% is only to its heavy, meaning (56/100 x .84) + (44/100) = 0.9104. Meaning they are nerfing lament by approximately 9% total. The heavy dmg goes from 117254 to 98493.36, for a reduction of 18760.64. This is literally less then a rev light attack worth of damage. While I don’t like nerfs in general in pve, this isn’t really going to impact the sword much. As for the guillotine, yeah the extra cost is a bit annoying, but at least they didn’t touch the dmg. I’m a sword main and I will still be using them after nerf.
-
they should make heavy swords and light swords, light swords are for add clear and heavy for dps, every sword right now are -blam!-ing broken as shit, they do 60% more dps then everything else and have nearly one million more in total DPS.
-
Nobody mentioning the chip damage removal. That was so helpful for solo match game activities. That's the real nerf....
-
Don't you get it?? It's a cycle, swords were excellent 2 seasons ago cause they were paper fans for a year before that. Swords will dwindle and fade to black for a while then Bungo will have the epiphany that they're trash and need to be buffed. Just go with the flow, shoot that rocket launcher at close distance and praise Bungo for that +1 ammo capacity and 10% more dmg...
-
Listen to all these non sword idiots talk like they have a clue at all.
-
Glad your not on the dev team.
-
Lol it will be fine, relax.
-
Amazing how swords have been nerfed 3/4 times and yet Lament and FG are still 2 of the best heavy weapons in the game... and one of them is a legendary doing more damage that most exotics... Both swords will still be the best option for most things in PvE after the nerf anyway, everyone acting like Bungie is dropping all sword damage to a flat 10. Relax, your sword will still be good.. very good.
-
It’s easier and quicker to nerf a single weapon versus trying buff multiple weapons to bring them up to par with the OP weapon. There are a lot more underuse weapons vs overuse or OP weapons.
-
This has to be the third or 4th nerf to Swords at one point swords were shit nobody used them then you rework and buff swords just to bring them back down again this makes no sense at all
No. Takes far less time and resources to nerf the one outlier instead of buffing 15+ other weapons.
-
That would make things too easy, stop crying about a slight adjustment to swords, if they buffed all underused weapons it would make boss fights too easy and make content stale too quickly. Its not even that big of a nerf anyway, FG is just getting a heavy attack cost adjustment, and Lament is getting a very slight heavy attack damage decrease. They're still going going be outstanding dps monsters, but they had to reign them in a bit because they're so fantastic. Make everything powerful would essentially remove any difficulty from using certain weapon types, thus making the game easy and boring. If you want to just waltz through everything you play, just play Fallout with mods on.

People like swords in a sci-fi game. I am (dripping with sarcasm) absolutely shocked. -signed the guy who used crown splitter in crucible because it was funny.
