Do you agree with me? Examining Update 2.0

My Personal Criticism on Update 2.0 As you have all read, Bungie has posted the Update 2.0 that comes with the weapon "tuning", or should I say complete destruction of the heavy hitters such as Gjallarhorn and Thorn... 1. Auto Riffles: Specific Changes:
I-ncrease base damage -Start damage falloff closer to the player to emphasize its role as a close to medium range weapon -Small reduction in base stability. Landing shots at optimal range is unaffected, but repeated precision hits require more weapon -control to land consistently -Boost damage by 10% against AI combatants
I'm glad that Bungie will increase base damage and damage to all combatants by 10% for all Auto Rifles. They’re getting a much needed buff to hopefully get them out of the Gutter. As of now, Auto Rifles are basically irrelevant because of the update/patch 1.1.1 a while ago where they decided to nerf them. Only thing I have to say is SUROS IS BACK BABY!! 2. Pulse Rifles: Specific Changes:
-Reduce base damage of the medium RoF by about 2.5% -PVP: Bursts-to-kill (all precision hits) is 2 or 3, depending on victim’s Armor stat -Small reduction in base stability. A burst should still land all shots at optimal range, but three precision hits will require more weapon control to land consistently -Increase magazine size on for all base inventory stats
Not too much being done here. Just a nerf to the damage by 2.5%, as well as slightly reducing the stability, and increase mag size. Not much to say. I don't have issues with the changes but I think these tweaks were unnecessary. 3. Scout Rifles Specific Changes:
-Increase base damage for medium to high Rate of Fire Scout Rifles -PVP: Does not affect TTK in PVP on a Guardian with full health -Increase magazine size for all base inventory stats -Reduce Final Accuracy when firing from hip -Fast firing outside of ADS will be less accurate -Boost damage by 5% against AI combatants
Not much changed really. Getting a tiny 5% vs AI boost. I’m worried Vision of Confluence and the MIDA Multi-Tool might get this class nerfed eventually... Again I think this little buff was unnecessary. 4. Hand Cannons (Oh boy..) Specific Changes:
-Start damage falloff closer to the player to limit long range lethality -Small reduction in ADS accuracy, targeted at making long range snap-shooting less reliable -Reduce final accuracy when firing from hip -Fast firing from hip is less reliable -Reduce magazine size for all base inventory stats -Reduce base Optics (zoom) for all Hand Cannons -ADS now grants more width in favor of depth
When I saw the update for this I had mixed feelings.. But as many feared, because of the overpower of Thorn, The Last Word and to a lesser extent, Hawkmoon, hand cannons as a whole are getting nerfed, mostly range and accuracy related. It’s a shame, because Thorn, The Last Word and Hawkmoon are all getting specific nerfs themselves, and it really doesn’t seem necessary to penalize the class as a whole, when legendary hand cannons are seldom used as is. The thorn got what it deserved, as well as The Last word and Hawkmoon but, LEAVE THE FATEBRINGERS ALONE (and other PVE hand cannons)! You don't have to penalize other hand cannon non related to PVP. Why does it have to have a 9 round clip? That's the dummest thing I've heard. I really enjoy using The Last Word and the Thorn (if others are using it), but instead of nerfing everything as a whole, why not must penalize those specific guns? I rarely see people using PVE hand cannons on PVP. So why do they have to be nerfed too? This is gonna piss off a lot of people. I think Bungie should of nerfed only specific OP hand cannons rather than all of them. Pretty bummed on this one guys.. 5. Shotguns Specific Changes:
-Shotgun perks that enhance lethality at range should be less effective when combined with a high initial Range stat: -Reduce Shot Package Accuracy buff by 30% -Rangefinder adds a 5% base Range increase on ADS (was 20%) -Reduce Precision Damage multiplier on Shotguns by 10% -Reduce damage against AI combatants by 10%
I use shotguns a lot! I just like using shotguns in all the games I play. Most of my shotguns have the perks Shot package, Range Finder, Knee Pads, Final Round, or Luck in the Chamber which give it a deadly advantage over other players. I understand why they're nerfing the shotguns. Lets face it, they are OP as f#%k. But instead of making them complete SH*T. Why not buff fusion rifle and Side arms so they are evenly matched? Now shotguns will be irrelevant.. That's not okay with me. I love my shotgons and the THOUSANDS of motes of light, glimmer, and weapon parts I used for my 6 shotguns are now useless. CAN I HAVE A REFUND on those materials please? I'm pretty bummed on the nerf, but I understand why it was needed to be done. 6. Fusion Rifles Specific Changes:
-Slow charging, high Impact Fusion Rifles have decreased Range values -Makes it more difficult to max out Range for these weapons -Projectile Speed for Fusion Rifles is slightly reduced -Emphasizes the need to lead a targets outside medium range -Improve Accuracy for short range Fusion Rifles -Reduce Accuracy for long range Fusion Rifles
I don't care about Fusion Rifles. 7. Sniper Rifles: (ARE YOU F#$%ING KIDDING ME?) Specific Changes:
Final Round on Sniper Rifles buffs precision damage only, not base damage This change only affects this perk when combined with Sniper Rifles
Thank you for fixing that stupid/annoying final round perk. It is extremely OP! But that's not why I'm upset.. Let me just say RIP to the Black Hammer and Ice Breaker. WHY did bungie have to F@#&ING change those great snipers? Were now moving into anger-inducing territory. The PvE staple is having its auto-regenerated ammo increased from one bullet every five seconds to one every eight. As one of my favorite guns, this has made me quite upset, as now all it means is even more sitting around time waiting for ammo to respawn than before. AND I CANT BELIEVE that the Black Hammer has essentially been blown to bits by having its signature ammo-generating perk pull bullets from your actual inventory rather than out of thin air. It’s the primary reason anyone uses the gun, so now it’s rather pointless. Both these sniper rifles were strong, but I’d argue not game-breaking in any way that required drastic nerfs like these. I just want to thank Bungie for ruining these two beautiful weapons. You think I'm raging? Oh just wait until we get to the Gjallarhorn! 8. Rocket Launchers: Specific Changes:
Slight increase in base Blast Radius. Grenades and Horseshoes proximity detonation reduced.
The actual changes to all rockets is not too bad. I'm bummed Grenades and Horseshoes is reduced only because of hundreds of motes of light, glimmer, and weapon parts used to get that perk. I didn't want to spend that much material so they can make the perk I wanted less effective. It's quite annoying! But the real rage is not in the perks... Its in GJALLARHORN!!! Gjallarhorn: What the...? Specific Changes:
-Reduce damage of Wolfpack Rounds
Before I go into detail about this let me ask you a couple of questions. 1.What is the most known gun in the game?
Gjallarhorn
2.What is the most wanted gun in the game?
Gjallarhorn
3.People keep grinding in hope of getting what?
Gjallarhorn
THEN WHY WOULD YOU NERF THE MOST POPULAR/WANTED WEAPON IN THE -blam!-!NG GAME? I don't even have a Gjallarhorn yet. I've played this game for almost 700 hours, which is equivalent to about 28 days. The only thing bringing me back to the game is that one chance a Gally will drop for me! But listen, I do understand where Bungie is comming from, and here is my thought: One weapon was not meant to dominate a game to such a degree, and this is only a problem among the community because Bungie waited so long to do it. If they’d nerfed it back months ago before it became the game’s lord and savior, it wouldn’t have been a problem.Im just upset I wont get to experience the full effect of the Gally before it will be nerfed. RNjesus hates me, so I have accepted the fact I will never get it! Those are my thoughts about the update. Please let me know what you guys think! And thank you for reading! -Arctic Method

The only things that needed to be addressed were thorn in PVP and autorifles. All the rest of the nerfs tell me that bungie knows the new TTK gear is crap and nobody would use it unless they were forced to. This is bungie forcing us to. Its basically to make up for their poor game design and inability to make weapons better than the original ones. That plus the fact that they seem more interested in hyping up the hype for the TTK and not the actual game itself should have people very worried about the TTK. Glad I didn't preorder.

        • agree on the handcannon thing (more or less) disagree on shotguns, they won't be shit afterwards, just play with found verdict, a shotgun without rangefinder or shot package and it performs exactly like I personally think a shotgun should perform. (I also have an old felwinters and matador/party crasher, love those things, but come on... the range is ridiculous...)

        • I'm so in line with you (I did a similar post and have very similar feelings on most changes, save Fusion Rifles). The most aggravating changes for me are the Gjally nerf (took me over 8 months to finally get it), the Hand cannon nerf, and the Sniper Rifle nerfs.

          • Agree wholeheartedly on the HC comments. Using them in PvE, with the Fatebringer exception, is so bloody difficult and now the use rate will drop even further. I love TLW, but just can't see it getting much use anymore. It's a shotgun now, just without spread and a bigger mag.

          • I think that instated of nerfing ghorn bungie should buff the dragons breath. They should buff it to where it can track its targets because I mean ghorn and truth has this perk. It also lack the ability to use its full potential on dishing out a lot of damage without the tracking ability. And it would also improve the popularity of the weapon as well would you guys agree

              • Auto rifles got nerfed 2.5% too and now they're useless. Now they're pulling the same shit with pulse rifles. Pulse rifles do not need a buff or a nerf, they are perfect with they are. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Bump. Im very unhappy with all hand cannons getting a nerf. Thorn and The Last Word is the issue not legendaries and hawkmoon ( i agree with the no more 1 shotting for hawkmoon though), i agree with damage fall off and range reduction but accuraccy needed a buff not a nerf because hand cannons rely on accuracy. Ice Breaker, Gjhallerhorn and Black Hammer don't need a nerf, i never even use black hammer or ice breaker and i know they don't need a nerf.

I agree 1000% with this. But you don't need to make fusion rifles worse they are already bad and almost no one uses them. Also by making Galjahorn the most wanted exotic do less damage with its Wolfpack rounds you are making the gun less desirable and I know plenty of people who are grinding and playing the game only because they don't have the Galjahorn or you could just make galjahorn have 6 shots instead of 7 with heavy boots. Also the the black hammers perk, white nail should not be touched, yes I admit it is latke bit over powered being able to sit in the back of the map and hit a boss over and over again in there precision spot, but instead of making the gun completely useless you could gust lower its handling, impact or range. That is all I have to add and Bungie I hope you take this in to consideration.

              • 1. AR's - I agree, they needed this buff and desperately. They were about as useful as waterguns in PvE/PvP, but nowhere near as fun. 2. Pulse Rifles - I don't think they really should have touched the stability one bit. PR's had hit a sweet spot after the update to where they were in a great spot now and the stability tweak/ leads me shaking my head as to why. 3. HC's - Okay, yes, range had to be addressed, because hitting targets across the map is a bit much. But the magazine nerf was just overkill, there are more than a few HC's with only 3 or 4 rounds in a clip, and a majority of the ones I've seen have 5 or 6 so what we lose 2 per clip? Oh joy! 4. Scout Rifles - Don't see much to say, it seems pretty good. 5. Shotguns - oh yay!! MORE nerfs! Why do I say that? Am I some shotgun fruit running through the crucible? no. But the problem isn't solely with Shotguns bungie is failing to realize here. They designed the maps from vanilla and TDB that are almost all close quarters and geared to close in, that and they pounded FR's into uselessness, by "fixing" them severaltimes in the first place. On the bright side they did make changes with several of the HoW maps I've been in. Did they need to actually tweak shotguns before and now, yes. Did they need to nerf them for PvE, no, that pretty much makes no sense. How many times do you go running up to a minotaur/captain with full shields and expect to shotgun them down? last time I checked that usually ends up with the words "guardian down". 6. FR's - Oh look, the FR's were fixed! Uhh, no...not really. 7. IceBreaker -I can't follow Bungie's logic on this. The wait was long and annoying enough before with the 5 sec per round recharge, plus starting off you had 0 rounds to start with which just was ridiculous. But now you have to wait more? 8. Thorn - I'm kinda torn on this, I know PvP changes needed to be made, but I'm on the fence about these. 9. TLW - The range nerf was needed, but again bungie goes too far with the stability. It helps if you can keep the gun on target, not just fire real fast. Also, I don't agree with the ADS change myself. I understand they are going for a "wild west" kind of theme here, but everyone actually "aims" their gun you know, at least I do initially for the 1st round I fire. Not just hip firing at everything that moves, and the bonus accuracy they're going to add doesn't tell me much. That and the clip size nerf worries me alot. 10. BH - Yes, lets nerf a legendary into the dust and one that's not even overpowered and in use so much to destroy everyone it meets. 11. Gjallahorn - lets just say I don't like vague "we'll tell you later what the nerf will be" changes, but they can be anything from minor to nerfed into the dust of uselessness. Overall I have to wonder what Bungie was thinking

                • I agree with what they are doing to auto rifles, and the change to Necrochasm is EXACTLY what I've asked for. Don't nerf Gjallahorn. Much better solution would have been to buff Truth and DB so that they were on a par. Dragon's Breath: add tracking. The real issue is that it is dumb fire. If it tracked it would be usable. 2nd, make the flare a sticky so that it attaches to the target and does damage over time. This would give DB an effect like the wolfpack rounds that do damage over time. Truth: already tracks, so it only needs a damage over time feature. Add a void vortex that sticks to the target and you're done. Now it has damage over time I hate how Bungie thinks the solution is to nerf things. If one weapon in a given category outshines the others, then buff the others to be on a par with the one. Nerf the single best heavy in the game? Really???

                  • Very well written. I hope the folks at Bungie are reading these posts and taking each and every one into consideration. This latest update (July 15, 2015) on Weapon Tuning 2.0 is extremely frustrating to read. Bungie: Listen closely to what the end-users are saying...it is loud and clear. Adjust accordingly before implementing your Weapon Tune 2.0 in September, or I am certain there will be severe fallout among a vast majority of players. #Feedback #Weapons #Illogical #SaveGjallarhorn

I mostly agree with these opinions, however you say the Last Word got what it deserved, I have a mixed opinion on that subject. I don't believe it needed to be as nerfed as it was, I mean decreasing the hip fire accuracy is ridiculous seeing how that aim style is how TLW is supposed to be used! Yet reducing the range is a good idea because then maybe more people will use it like an up close and personal weapon instead of as a sniper rifle. In the crucible you have to be at point blank range as it is if you want to do serious damage quickly, and still to kill someone it takes 3-4 shots, so why reduce the magazine size on a weapon that has a small enough mag as it is!? I use the Last Word most of the time with my hunter and it seems to fit its role well, seeing how unlike Thorn some actual skill is needed to utilise its hip fire capabilities.

                          • I do not understand handcannons purpose in game... I would have possibly messed, and buffed them, and swaped to being like sidearms, being the CQC primary archtype..., and leave autos with decent short medium range power (I think rifles should dominate range compared to a pistol >.< ) Shotguns, what nerf? only nerf I see is really to SP and RF, the precision mod still means the med/HROF shotties can still get a 1 shot, ifall the pellets land on body and 1 or more on head... :P (I do not understand nerfing precision damage, cause that requires more aim O_O ) Fusions, Same page as you, they are already complete crap, no reason to use, no reason to care if they completely removed from game... Snipers, agreed, BH and IB did not need altering, BH is situational at best, and I never use solar snipers on other burns... ( except solar shields at distance ), My opinion? Engame weapons should always be chosen over other legendariles in PvE content, period... Look at primaries, I never use anything but my raid primaries because it would be ridiculous to use kinetic... why should not special and heavy weapons have the same favoritism? Lil joke comming, (so do not take next part seriously) Screw your fatebringer! Bungie is Nerfing My Black Hammer Cause they do not want raid weapons to be at all better tha other legendaries, so let your Fatebringer BURN!!! (Jokes over now) Gjallerhorn, I agree it needed nerfing, but not like that... they did it wrong, that is like making Icebreaker into a fieldscout sniper, removing the no backpack perk, or removing the explosive perk... Ah, so the Exotic factor gone, now it is comparable to other of its type hm?... I would have change WP perk, boosting the perk itself, and adding a nerf, which would cause these (better than current) wp rounds to drain blast radius and blast damage from the main rocket ( fair amount of drain ) in exchange for a higher than normal single target potential damage.... The rounds might have a slight blast radius themselves... much farther tracking, greater speed, detection radius, travel time, lifespan (and preferably more dynamic when detonating on a surface to fly out based on direction rocket was going, and angle of surface) After what I would do to gjaller, the WP rounds would be much better, and have an actual dynamic when detonating on a surface, to give more physics...., would have greater single target damage potential, but the heavily stunted blast radius and blast damage, would mean this weapon would be much less desirable in mobs, as thee would be a large chance many of the rounds would not even lock onto the boss. Second, less extreme change is possibly addind some rounds to WP rounds... (max +50%) and divide into 3 parts, 1 part wp rounds, 2nd, cluster bombs, 3rd, MIRV (so you have the alphas,, the ones circling the perimeter, and various in between :D ) would leave it a potent preferred RL, but!, not nearly as exclusively desired over others... :P
