I think it comes down to teamwork. A good team of 30s and 31s are better in VOG HM than a team of 32s that can't work together.
Same in Crota, however, I'll say on HM you need a good team of 32s which is hard to find especially if you have 1-2 good 31s. It's supposed to be hard. Teamwork makes it easier.

Teamwork is important but so is knowing what to do. If a whole team of 32s cannot handle the relic on atheon, boy are you in trouble.

Absolutely agree. Everyone needs to know how to use the relic in case needed. But if everyone's shooting oracles with primaries, a good relic holder doesn't matter.
