How did you find your future?

Hi guys, I am a High School senior, soon to graduate. I have achieved much so far in my life, a Foreign Exchange and Eagle Scout to name a few. But, despite what I have accomplished, I have had a difficult time finding what I want to do with my life, as well as motivating myself to apply something I put my mind to. I'm attending community college next year, and am not too thrilled about it either. So I ask, If there is anyone else who can share their experience with finding what to do with their future, it would be much appreciated to see your point of views. Thanks!

Find a field of study that interests you. For me, Neuroscience and Psychology just captivated me, and I set my goals to study those subjects. I'm a junior in Highschool, but I have everything planned out already. You just have to look at something that catches your eye, and go with it to see if it's truly something you want to pursue. It's kind of like choosing the right girl, or the right car, or the right house (or anything for that matter haha)

  • Been studying Geology at University all this year, had plans of going into the petroleum industry and making bank. Realised I hate the course, can't imagine pursuing it for another 3 years and then onwards into a career. I'm changing to English in September, future prospects won't be nearly so lucrative but I'll love it and that's what really matters.

    • You don't have to make a choice that is set in stone for the rest of your life. Try things, see what you like.

    • That's a difficult choice, but in the end there is no guarantee you end up doing what you studied for. I studied constuction engineering for 6 years. After graduation i started working as a normal drive instructor because i could not get a job in constuction engineering. Now i'm an advanced driving instructor for cars and motorcycles. I love this job.

    • Do some research. Love cars? Maybe you can try a career in that. Animals? Become a veterinarian. Space? Astronomy. Look at your current interests and narrow it down to things you love to do.

    • If you're not thrilled about going to college, just don't go. If you aren't sure it's just a waste of money. Take some time off, explore some hobbies, maybe travel a bit. You'll find your way in time.
