Call out to home brewers

Enjoying a glass of my homemade pear wine right now and thought I'd see if anyone else out there has tried their hand at making their own beverages. I've found that brewing is stupid easy and wish I had gotten into the hobby sooner than I did. This pear brandy is good and is ridiculously cheap to make (aside from the starting equipment costs), and I've also made a honey porter beer, which was a bit hoppy but had a nice flavor. I've got four gallons of a raspberry wine fermenting in my closet that I'm pumped about! If you've tried it, I'd love to hear what you have made. Cheers!

  • This thread makes me want to get smashed. While I do not brew myself, me and the fam often go to local farm shop to get our apples pressed into juice, and they have a whole barn dedicated to cider and wines, of which many are cool little companies and home brews. I love just wandering around and looking at them all. There's some really unique stuff out there waiting to e drunk.

    • I'm the head brewer for Walking Man Brewing and I encourage anyone who's interested in trying their hand at the art of homebrewing. I've been a professional brewer for over eight years: two years at Portland Brewing/Pyramid and six years at Hale's Ales. I was thinking of starting a group here for homebrewers, brewers, and aspiring brewers for support and maybe gaming together. Not sure if there are enough of us around to warrant a group though...we would also need a cool name....

            • My brother brews his own beer. He has a batch of beer that's really hoppy coming, sort f like Sam Adams hopology, which Im excited about. He's always getting better with each brew. Right now he's still going off recipes. But he says soon he wants to experiment and make his own recipe. As well he wants to become a brewer for a company. He loves beer, I love beer, we all on my house love our beer.
