Cool. I was definitely amazed how cheap and easy it can be. I'm using a recipe of my grandfathers to make a sort of unaged wine (I'm not exactly sure what the exact term would be). I think it breaks down to 5 dollars a gallon for a month and a half of it mostly just sitting.

It would be a young wine if its consumed not long after second fermentation. At least thats how it is with mead. A young mead is. Well, young. Lol I make 15 gallons a year, each 5 gallons is a different brew. Coming to a total of about 6 dozen 750 ml bottles. I make a sweet mead of my own recipe ive devolped to my personal tastes, a dry mead with mainly orange blossom honey and a lightly carbonated mead with black pepper, amoretto and a hint of ginger and clove. The most expensive thing for me is the honey. All my equipment and everything else is dirt cheap. But the honey, I use about 40 to 45 pounds of honey per 15 gallons of mead brewed. Can be costly.
