• Aww how cute, they are using their newest OS, imagine the back lash if they didn't. It's either MS know's how shitty it's OS is or Win8 is shit. They can't win, Win 8 is perfect on a tablet, it's only the PC users that are butthurt because they don't it. Pathetic.

          • It seems like the 720 will cost like $600 or something. I want the basic version or weight until its cheaper.

I like that backwards compatibility chatter. And if Kinect 2 comes built-in and works within much tighter spacial restrictions, then I may make use of it.

            • I highly doubt they would run Windows 8 on it. While they have been making a conscious effort to make their PC, Xbox, and Mobile OS's as similar and unified as possible, running a regular windows operating system is a bad idea. They've made sure to draw a distinction in the past between their pc and console line, and they probably still want to keep these two things separate. The new xbox would probably run a similar OS to what the 360 currently has, and it will continue to appear similar to the Windows 8 metro interface, but running a pc OS on console hardware is a bad idea in the long run. Windows 8 would use up too much of the console's resources, and they can't expect Windows 8 to last the expected 10-year lifespan of this coming generation of consoles. As for the new Xbox being backwards compatible, it's possible that it would ship with the 360 hardware inside, but it would bring the price of the console up too high to be priced competitively with the PS4, so I don't see that happening, unfortunately.

              • yeah I like windows 7 way more. I can actually do stuff without stupid layouts and pointless change getting in the way of my work. As for windows 8 on a console I really don't care. I'll be playing games on it and not doing actual projects / work so w/e.

                • Sounds fine to me. The console running a computer OS is pretty cool too.

I think the only thing that disappoints me, if this is true, is that they didn't switch to built-in rechargeable batteries on the controllers, which means we'll probably need to buy charge packs. Although I always did like the weight the bulkier battery gave to the 360 controller. Really though, if I still have to pay for XBL, I'll be seriously considering a PS4 instead. Hopefully they make XBL Gold a PS+-esque service.

Why? I like everything about this, except that the D-Pad hasn't been changed lol. Most of it was stuff we've already guessed, but the part about running WinRT is pretty interesting. I mean, it's a smart move and it can connect Xbox gaming across all devices in a way that no other competitor can match. Such a cheap buy-in for the ability to be on Xbox and Windows is awesome, and hopefully it'll move more indie development to the platform.

                  • Sick joke? What, because it uses Windows 8? I honestly don't understand why people hate Windows 8 so much. I've been using it since I got my laptop last month and it works absolutely fine. Sure, at first it was weird and slightly confusing, but once you get used to it, you end up liking more than previous iterations of Windows. Just give it a chance. If you don't like certain things, you can just change them yourselves. Windows 8 is not bad.

                      • I hate Kinect and I hate W8. If true, the 720 is gonna have to pull something huge and amazing out of its ass for me to give it a chance.
