Pessimism In the Forums...

Anyone who has been on these forums for any stretch of time knows how negative they can be, and how often they can be that way. And for one thing, I get it: the forums are likely one of the easiest places for any player to post feedback that Bungie might actually see, either positive or negative, and I also understand that, for the average person, there's more motivation to go out of your way to offer complaints rather than praise. Criticism is more likely to bring positive change than sugar-coating our responses to Bungie, which we obviously should never do; we don't owe them that. Some of you people though? Come ON! The occasional positive post I DO see almost always seems to have its comments section filled with defeatist cynics flaming the author for having the GALL to express positive feedback about Bungie or Destiny. Get a grip! I'm truly sorry that you are in a place of overwhelming negativity about Bungie or Destiny as a whole, and while that is 100% entirely justified, others are also entitled to their own POSITIVE opinions. Some of the people who, like myself, have been here since early D1, know just how much potential this franchise has, and we just want to see it realized. You wanna know something even crazier? Some of us even hold out hope for Bungie to realize some of that potential, with what's happened in recent years!🤯 Optimism, huh? Crazy, I know. Speaking purely from my thoughts now: I love this game. I really do I have made tons of friends, made countless memories, and I have a folder with MANY gigs of purely screenshots and clips I've gathered in this game from over the years, because this game has been around for nearly half of my life. I started playing D1 with friends from middle school, and I am now about to graduate from undergrad, and I'm STILL playing with my same two buddies from back then. They are my fireteam, and we all love this game and are grateful for what it has done for us. Again, I am not denying the plethora of reasons any person has to feel upset, because I'm upset about plenty of things too! At the same time though, there are people who love this game just like myself and my buds. My request to anyone who has a negative opinion or criticism: please, voice your concern, but do not go out of your way to invalidate others' positivity. TL;DR: Let people enjoy the game, and don't push your negative opinions onto others. I would love to have discussion in the comments! :)

Often, I try to engage in normal conversation, or as normal a conversation as text permits, and I'm quite often insulted because I feel players are just in that mindset of, "This is a negative place. Everyone must be negative.". The other day, a Guardian who go error coded out of a solo flawless dungeon attempt voiced their frustration in the forums. Sure, I could have fueled the negative filled post, but I opted to encourage the Guardian to take a break and return to the dungeon when they're ready. I posted some words of encouragement and let it be. Someone responded to my post by saying, "Yikes.", and then went on to say that fake positivity is best left to the content creators/streamers. Ultimately, that person and I ended up have a great conversation, but not after a rather long dialog of expressing my genuine attitude on the matter. It's interactions like that that make it harder to engage with players. There's so much negativity already. Why add to it? I just try to keep it light, tight and bright and have fun.
