A couple drawing thingies

I started doodling on a rough draft for one of my short stories and decided to play with some ink work. :P It’s been fun experimenting with contrasts as well as a new… genre, I guess? Most of my art lately has been character design and sketches rather than full on scenes, let alone ones like these. I think the biggest thing I learned was how it’s okay to go with the flow instead of focusing on perfection. Had I stressed perfection, things would’ve looked much more stiff and even messy because of all the corrections I’d be trying to make. Edit: I left the links in this spoiler, but Aifos helped me fix my pop-up thingies, so don’t forget to check my second post on this thread for the other piece! • This is really, really good! You've got a kind of classic art style here, which I don't see as often as I think it deserves. Especially the shell on the second thingy. That and the shading reminds me a little of Gustave Doré, a French illustrator famous for his illustrations of the Divine Comedy and the Bible (I highly, highly recommend checking those out by the way). I saw someone think the latter drawing was Baba Yaga, which I think I can see as it has that kind of creepiness that's associated with Mythic creatures. This is really cool stuff. What's the short story it comes with about, if you don't mind my asking?
