Would you leave Destiny if they took out PvP?
Just a survey for devs to see what they should be focused on.
Edit: I've been reading almost all the posts to my poll, and really am enjoying the engaging argument. Yes, I realize the forum has a bias towards PvE. Not much I can do about that. It is what it is.
What I am pleased to see is the COMMENTS seem to be relatively equal in PvP vs PvE...and that was my hope.
Is balance in PvP hurting PvE? Should D2 PvE be a deeper RPG experience? What other games handle this marriage of PvP and PvE well, and how are they able to do that? Is PvP being held back by lack of engaging content?
While most will blame one side for the other's demise, the long and short of it is that Destiny 2 is HUGELY popular...and has been all the while with a marriage of both PvP and PvE...even creating a new genre of game that combines then both, with Gambit.
What I feel Bungie needs to do is continue engaging all three sections of the game equally. Seasons should simply rotate the focus...so each get a large content drop when it's their turn.
As far as balancing the game, they should stop trying so hard. Balancing doesn't mean make EVERYTHING the same. It means making everything have POTENTIAL...if you use the right combination of mods, perks and play styles.
I just don't know if Bungie is slowly killing off PvP to get people to engage with their next IP or are they just struggling to get the right people to fix D2. What I do know, however, is the struggle is real!

I don't play it much but I don't want it to go, pvp is an aspect of gaming I really enjoy, and pvp with friends/ clan is a lot of fun.

3 RepliesActually i would be quite happy if PVP went away and got a completely own section, this PVP concentration makes PVE players not feel at home at all. We get tonnes of quests but almost all contain PVP elements to get them. It is truly sickening! Is it worth is doing a quest even 50% to end up, you need 100 kills in the crucible or gambit. I think not. Both my friends and now my son has lost interest in Destiny 2. i'm lonely in space right now. I know i'm a jerk hoping that Destiny 2 will recover. It's like a lame duck that better deserves to be put to sleep!

I would. If you go to my profile it probably says I play a lot of PvP but that’s because it’s the end of the season. I wanna use the stuff I’ve earned in PvE. For as much as I love PvE, PvP holds a lot of ground in this game and has been totally neglected. And when I say it’s been neglected, I mean for the 99% of players that are casual. That’s not an opinion. That’s a fact. For me, I don’t buy games that don’t have PvP. I literally would’ve never bought any game I have if it didn’t have a form of PvP. Halo, CoD, Titanfall 1 and 2, etc. Not updating PvP because there is no monetization in it is a HUGE mistake because a sizable portion of the community are PvP mains.

I would not personally simply because i dont play pvp to much. But i do know alot of people would. Granted from my viewpoint. Alot of the main balance problems are almost strictly because of the pvp aspect of the game. The reason alot of weapon archtypes suck is mainly due to pvp. Now heres something i want them to do more of and thats seperate balancing for seperate modes. It would be fine and they have proven they can do so multiple times now. Then again thats just a me thing i dont speak for the people

3 RepliesYes. Because while im mostly a pve guy Bungie is incapable of creating pve content that is playable for long periods of time. I know some people will say “but withiut pvp they will have kore time to work on pve”. They havent uodated pvp in forever and they still dont have ove in a good place. Bungies issue isnt a lack of resources but a lack of innovation or creativity.

The original draw for me and many og players was to grind each content release for pvp gear. Without the want to play pvp the season pretty much dries up after a month or so. Pvp is what keeps the game going during the down times. Like now the player population is abysmal because pvp is a joke. Players who don’t take the time to get good at pvp always want it removed because they would rather it removed then get stomped. What these players fail to realize is many of the players you are doing raids, GMs and dungeons with are there to get gear for pvp. Many pvp players also play pve but not often the other way around. If you were to remove pvp I think the game would become a shell of its former self by cutting nearly 40% of the playerbase. Before players start arguing numbers let’s not forget visiting the spider counts as patrol and thus pve participation. Those numbers are def skewed. I play both day 1 raids and go to the lighthouse. I have both Flawless and Conqueror title. If pvp was cut I would quit the game easy as that. If you want a strictly pve game there are literally hundreds of them out there. What makes Destiny - Destiny is the ability to earn gear in pve and use it in pvp and vice versa. Having said all of that literally every aspect of pvp is in dire need of an overhaul. Hopefully we get a season of Shaxx in the not to distant future.

If pvp got removed I would 100% leave. I do pve stuff to get gear and guns to play pvp with and mess around with. That would be a huge mistake on bungies part but hey it's their game. I probably speak for 95% if my clan too on this matter.

5 RepliesAfter completing most PvE activities I go straight to PvP. Imo PvE gets incredibly stale after the first 5ish completions of whatever activity. Replayability for many people is with PvP, getting rid of it will cut a large chunk of the player population

I play pvp with my clan and I know some people only pvp. We play against each other in private matches or with one another in crucible. Pvp helps keep you interested in destiny when the dry, content less spells are in effect... sadly in my opinion, is quite often now.

Sunsetting was enough for me to quit. Removing PvP would be enough for me to never considering buying another Bungie produced product ever again...

I mean, half the exotics and perks are designed around PvP usage. Things like opening shot, killing wind, and moving target are pretty weak perks in PVE. Many exotics are also designed around PvP. Pretty much any of the roaming super exotics outside of the storm trance one for sure are. Would greatly limit the point of grinding out many items. Bungie is still a multi-million dollar company, and should be able to manage updating both PVE and PvP. Don’t even know why this discussion needs to happen.

Well it is already being reduced with how terrible PVP is currently. I am going to say yes. Guess I can move on to Diablo style games.

Wouldn't be as much fun, sure I do enjoy myself some PvE. However, without some way to change the pace like SRL or the Crucible every now and then would burn me out for months.
