After completing most PvE activities I go straight to PvP. Imo PvE gets incredibly stale after the first 5ish completions of whatever activity. Replayability for many people is with PvP, getting rid of it will cut a large chunk of the player population

562.1k crucible players tracked yesterday. Granted most of those aren't diehard PvP players, that's still a large number. More than a tenth of the current population. Even losing a tenth of the playerbase would be a big loss for Bungie.

Yup, that’s less players playing. Honestly, there are times I would stop playing for the day if pvp didn’t exist. Mid season I log on for pvp, cause I’ve done all pve stuff.

I really got into PvP after the last iron banner. I'm pretty burnt out with other activities especially after the guardian games.
