Would you leave Destiny if they took out PvP?

Just a survey for devs to see what they should be focused on. Edit: I've been reading almost all the posts to my poll, and really am enjoying the engaging argument. Yes, I realize the forum has a bias towards PvE. Not much I can do about that. It is what it is. What I am pleased to see is the COMMENTS seem to be relatively equal in PvP vs PvE...and that was my hope. Is balance in PvP hurting PvE? Should D2 PvE be a deeper RPG experience? What other games handle this marriage of PvP and PvE well, and how are they able to do that? Is PvP being held back by lack of engaging content? While most will blame one side for the other's demise, the long and short of it is that Destiny 2 is HUGELY popular...and has been all the while with a marriage of both PvP and PvE...even creating a new genre of game that combines then both, with Gambit. What I feel Bungie needs to do is continue engaging all three sections of the game equally. Seasons should simply rotate the focus...so each get a large content drop when it's their turn. As far as balancing the game, they should stop trying so hard. Balancing doesn't mean make EVERYTHING the same. It means making everything have POTENTIAL...if you use the right combination of mods, perks and play styles. I just don't know if Bungie is slowly killing off PvP to get people to engage with their next IP or are they just struggling to get the right people to fix D2. What I do know, however, is the struggle is real!

  • Ive only been back for Iron banner for the last 1/3 of this season so regular pvp not so much a big drawcard but without IB I wouldn't play anymore. I prefer the pvp over alot (not all) of the pve in this game.

  • When this game is dry in content, I always play pvp. Even with no maps or mods it still feels fun and fresh every time I play. The gunplay and movement will always make me enjoy the pvp aspects too. It’s always been a pillar in this game’s success, just luck at the careers it’s made. People who think this game can live without it are sorely mistaken. Just look at all the other looter shooters that ship without solid pvp, they pretty much die in a week.

Only a fool would continuously pay for dlc where their preferred game mode is completely ignored. Only a fool would keep paying to be sold content they've already bought and played.

  • Yes, I would probably leave D2. I do not care for much of the PvE content, although I play both PvE and PvP. I have other interests I could pursue, if I stopped playing D2.

    • What a dumb question to ask. It shouldn't be my way or the highway when it comes to removing pvp. Some of the biggest community members came from destiny pvp (true vangaurd, aztecross, ifrostbolt and zkmushroom just to make a few.) Also don't try to blame pvp players for crippling the game. We never asked for stasis and were hesitant on the idea of freezing and slowing people. But pve players said, it's to early to judge. And that it'll be something new. It's also those same pve players that now refuse to touch pvp, even before stasis came out and now when stasis is in the game. Also don't try the d2y1 argument for stating how pvp ruined the game. We never asked for longer ttk's we actually wanted primary weapons to be buffed towards the end of d1. We also weren't enjoying the special ammo changes which just make everyone use icebreakers and wormwood. We liked the idea of 4v4 for a playlist but not the whole pvp climate. We tried warning you when the d2 beta came out that the game felt boring and may not work out with slow ability regen and increased ttk. All in all. We just want new maps and a renewed focus we never got. That is all. How is pvp taking resources away from the game when we haven't seen a new map or new anything in over a year? No seriously think about it. So stop trying to blame pvp for any short comings in pve. We get it, you don't like pvp. But we don't mind doing endgame activities like nightfalls for quest or any other materials. But heaven forbid you have to step into that dreaded pvp for just a little step most of the time. Just like we look to guides to get better at pve, you can look for guides on how to get better at pvp. Good day.

    • PvP being removed won't help, and so many people do play PvP.

    • If this is in any way representative of the playerbase at large, this is bad news for Bungie if they were to kill off PvP. Losing 1/3 of your playerbase is bad news.

    • Yes. As bad as pvp has gotten over the years it's still something I enjoy when I'm just trying to have some fun. If there's no pvp in destiny I'm out

    • I don’t think the PVE in Destiny is strong enough on its own. I don’t understand why anyone plays Destiny PVE if they are not gearing up for PvP. To me Destiny PVE is not fun enough to grind to play additional PVE content. Before I started PvP in Destiny 2, I played all sorts of campaigns in other games. To me Bungie’s story telling and cut scenes were only strong enough n their own in Forsaken maybe. With no more help from other studios, there are just much better PVE options out there. I also think Bungie is missing out on a huge uptick in PvP gamers out there at the moment, but I haven’t actually tried to confirm user numbers or anything. I would say even if their numbers are up slightly, PvP is dying given the populations in other PvP games over the last year. When the world gets back to normal and people aren’t gaming as much, the struggle will start getting real.

      • PVP has issues sure, but if the only relatively competitive thing left was Gambit, then hell. I'm an average human PVP player who's had good matches/bad matches, been stomped on by great players, faced cheaters etc, but PVP is a Destiny core activity and always should be. Give us more maps, incentives for glory ranks, and a strict gun only mode along with bringing some old modes back. F2P should be firewalled out of trials, IB, and comp.

        • I’m not necessarily a PvP focused player, but I would be hard pressed to keep playing if an entire aspect of the game was removed. I enjoy the option to play pvp, and I honestly played significantly more pvp this season than PvE. My issue is that destiny pvp is archaic. I’m not a fan of team deathmatch, and it seems like every game mode is team deathmatch. There are almost no fun objective modes that highly emphasize playing the objective. Most game modes award points for getting kills, and that is frustrating. I would like at least a capture the flag game mode (don’t bring up rift, it was single-flag ctf and I prefer 2-flag ctf).

        • No I would still play regardless. I'm a PVE player first and PVP is bounties / quests only. I wouldn't miss PVP at all.

        • Removing pvp from D2 would be a major buff, so Bungie will most likely keep the game nerfed. If the game gets a major buff no way I’m leaving then!!! The day pvp is gone from Destiny will be a worldwide holiday!!!

        • Bungie doesn't put enough content into PVE to justify the price tag without PVP. However Bungie continues to listen to their YouTube overlords and caters to their continuous whining about Hunters. Their non stop nerfing of Hunters dispite leaving blatantly broken talents/aspects whatever they call them now alone for other subclasses. Has caused me to completely swear off crucible. Going forward for me I'll play whatever is free and that's it. Again with out PVP the price is just to high. Maybe they can introduce a PVE only pass that completly locks off crucible for like half the price. Until they do something like that I am strictly a freemium player. Sorry Bungie your Hunter hate has finally made your game essentially worthless to me.

        • No, but It would result in me having more frequent hiatuses from the game, meaning that if they went full PVE, they'd have to drop a galactic truckload of content. For all its faults, PvP at least breaks up the monotony of shooting npcs all the time. Npcs don't use unpredictable tactics, so as long as you're high enough light, you can beat any npc. That gets old eventually.

              • Great survey. This game IS supposed to be a PvE game and started out that way. Bungo elevated PvP years ago in their grand scheme to generate money by means to eleviate themselves from having to distribute massive expansions or sequels. Just a little competitive side show to keep free-publicity streamers and consumers happy in between little downloadable content. I think The Dark Below was when they first really started pushing the crucible in. Coincidentally, that was the last massive expansion they had as well I believe. PvP is here to stay, as well as Bungo's money generating scheme of "Seasons". Which happens to harshly neglect either PvE or PvP each and every time. They won't commit to being a PvE game anymore because they will piss off the money makin streamers and they won't commit to PvP too much because they will lose everyday players. It's a mess. Sadly, that's why after the yearly pass is up for me, I'm done. Playing a video game that I love shouldn't be this frustrating lol. After allll these years they keep fumbling the ball.
