It’s made to force grind. Keep in mind a couple things. 1. Gambit, crucible, and vanguard strikes are +1 pinnacles. All others are +2 2. It’s best to do all the +2s first, then do the +1s. To take full advantage of +1’s your gear in your inventory must be as close to each other in light level as possible, otherwise it simply won’t really help you much. 3. Try to do the other challenges while doing pinnacles. Your gear balance is important. If you get a piece of gear from either a prime engram or powerful drop, you can use it to balance your gear and potentially allow yourself to more efficiently grind pinnacle power. Wrath born hunts are surprisingly a good way to do this. You can get 4 powerful drops each week for all your characters in it with lure upgrades. If one of your weapons and armor is under leveled compared to the rest of your gear, you may be able to use the wrathborn hunt to balance that out. 4. Always keep your highest light gear on yourself at all times, even if you don’t plan to use it. Your gear drops based on what the combined light is of your highest level gear currently in your inventory. It does not need to be equipped.

I know it's RNG, but the grind is getting old. Same thing season after season, bounty after bounty. I do all I can on 3 characters each week, but if 75 percent of my pinnacles drop in my energy slot or are duplicates, I get stuck ever so close to being at the next level to start the next week, but still not there. Honestly the number doesn't even really matter that much for the activities I do, but who doesn't want a higher number? That's why we grind, right? Most of the time I expect to not get what I need, so why even do it? I'm not motivated to grind more, just quit. Also, math is math, no RNG there. When I do three Gambit or Crucible matches, it should count as three. Every week, EVERY WEEK, i have to do four matches of one of those activities, usually on each character, to get credit for three. That's just dumb. And please work in some sort of SBMM in Crucible, I think there is a better way to balance lobbies and still have low wait times.

Bungie doesn't know how to make the game fun only a disappointment mostly with pinnacle drops. I just did a master empire hunt got a 1255 helmet and I have one at 1255 just couldn't drop in one of my other lower pieces. It's not by rng or luck that's how it's programmed to control you progression. I'm not buying any silver not spending a dime on anything in this game my way of protesting hurt them in their pocket.

Oh my gosh. We are not able to hit pinnacle cap immediately and got screwed on drops again. I understand the frustration but its part of the grind.

Guardian, do you miss the days of getting nothing but Edge Transit? Do you long for the times when the Cryptarch would look at you with that smile and say "Hello Guardian" and hand you an Edge Transit? I sure do! Any time this comes up I think back to near the end of D1 when Bungie reprogrammed the loot algorithm to drop specifically what the player needed to increase their lowest light slot. That they were capable of doing that then I have to be skeptical regarding any claims of "random" loot, especially in the gaming industry which uses pseudo-rng to begin with. No this is a specifically designed loot grind, and if they didn't want players to get repeat drops that block progression it wouldn't be happening.

Pinnacles are just trash replacements for end game loot.

You are high level? Why bother? I've stopped doing bounties and pinnacles....meh🤷‍♂️
