Subclasses

So! With Stasis / Darkness Powers coming in a month, what are the chances we get Hive magic next year ? Hear me out! In Destiny 1 we became Ascendant and in destiny 2 with us going to the darkness this winter I don’t think the next expansion after will turn down giving us access to those powers. I know savathun is all bout dat trickery but maybe just maybe! What IF we get to use them ? The only way I see it working canonically is Warlocks get subclasses similar to Wizards and Titans to Knights, Hunters ? I have no clue to honest What do you guys think ?

  • Honestly I should use shadow power since the darkness give dark power...I really want to be the shadow sovereign like webtoon manga. lol. Just wanted to say.

  • I like the idea of brand new elements, but Im of the opinion that our current three subclasses will be updated similarly to how our stasis abilities will be customizable. I feel like the way bungie'll go, in terms of updating our current elements, we'll get a new branch in each subclass tied to the darkness. Honestly, I'd be cool with that; new ways to play current subs with one new super across each, 3 for each guardian... Rather than a new element. I think I'd be fine with either, but prefer an interesting overhaul of what exists, with some new things to spice it up, rather than just one new element later down the line.

    • Arc = Lightning Solar = Fire Void = well, err void? I guess you could class it as psychic/arcane. Statis = Ice I could see use getting Water, Lava and eh, poison later down the line? 3 light classes, 3 dark classes Statis is all about CC, I could see Lava being the AoE element.

      • I wouldn't mind a subclass that uses Plasma.

      • I could see some kind of corrosion based classes coming out of this idea which would be neat for sure, also my throne world would be goddamn massive

      • The other classes were about buffing themselves with hive magic, The hunter subclass is the exact opposite. Hunter Hive melee: toss a small cocoon containing a small hive worm at distant enemies that releases poisonous gas corrupting nearby enemies, making them more susceptible to damage. Hunter Hive grenade: throw a large cocoon that contains a cursed hive worm. when enemies get too close the worm jumps out and latches onto the target. The worm will feast on the target for several seconds before exploding. targets killed by the exploding worm grant ability energy. If the worm is killed off early it will only grant partial ability energy. Hunter Hive super: summon a hive boomer gun that fires 5 powerful shots that deal area of affect damage. (I ran out of brain power for hunter sorry lol)

      • Been thinking along these lines for a while, funnily enough. When the Witch Queen arrives, Eris teaches us more of what she knows about the Hive would be the premise for me.

      • Stasis is already the dark, gritty subclass. Hive magic seems reduntant. Give us a light-focused subclass to balance it out: Lumen. I'm talking an element based on pure light. The subclasses could be focused heavily on support, healing and buffing. Now THAT would be cool.

          • Slim to none. Hive magic isn't direct power from the Darkness or Pyramids. It's a derivative weaker power that buckles against the weakest forms of light. Furthermore, we would need a worm inside of us to use power like soulfire and dying star. The next power could be Nightmare based, with abilities centered around illusory tactics, life steal, and disorientation, or it could be wind based, resembling the wispy energy under Pyramid Scales, being the destructive power that caused the Fallen fo flee their home and the same power described as "wind flattening cities" in the Constellations lore book.

            • I hope we can get even more dark powers to even out the light subclasses we have

This Titan subclass is all about making things explode. Titan Hive Melee: instead of the usual sprint melee or punch, how about a charged titan melee attack that consists of YEETING a large but heavy hive knight sword. This sword is tossed with both hands horizontally and is able to strike multiple targets at once. it moves slow but hits very hard and enemies that are hit by the sword are temporarily cursed! killing cursed targets, either from your weapons or the sword itself will cause them to explode like the cursed thralls, potentially cursing nearby enemies. Titan Hive grenade: a hive grenade that when thrown will then emit a wall of hive magic fire on the ground. Enemies that pass through the flames are drained of life and explode when dying. Alternately consume this grenade to engulf your entire body with hive fire for a set amount of time. This slightly deals damage to yourself but the damage of your normal melee punches are significantly increased. Punching targets sets them on fire, killing them causes them to explode, giving you health in return. Titan Hive Super: Roam around with a large hive knight sword instead of a shield. Perform heavy attacks with the blade that causes enemies to be set on fire and/or explode when dying. Alternatively plunge the sword into the ground to perform an incantation. The ground around the sword up to a 20 meter radius is cursed, enemies passing through are drained of life, giving the player an overshield and setting enemies on fire. Targets killed explode and spread hive fire to nearby enemies.

            • I'd be down for some hive magic, but keep in mind that their magic is fueled by death and sacrifice. Not sure how the vanguard would feel about using such tactics but you could design subclasses that are based around killing an enemy (who is basically the sacrifice) and in return you get buffs/bonuses. Warwick melee: strike a target with a hive magic melee attack, that corrupts and slowly drains the target a portion of their health that is then given to you. If the target dies, they leave a remnant that can be picked up. Picking up the remnant temporarily applies a corruption affect to your kinetic weapon (legendaries only). Targets that die from corrupted weapons grant melee energy. Warlock grenade: a hive corruption grenade that can be used to slow down targets and suppress them. Alternatively you can consume the grenade to temporarily apply a corruption effect to your rifts. Targets that come too close to your corrupted rifts quickly loose health. Damaging targets while inside your corrupted rifts grants grenade energy. Warlock Hive Super: basically you become a walking thorn hand cannon. A deathly aura surrounds you that can drain nearby enemies of health. You can also shoot large corrupted javelins from you hands that quickly poisons targets. Targets that come near javelins shot on the ground will loose health, direct hits will cause targets to explode spreading corruption damage to nearby enemies.
