People keep blaming matchmaking when it isn't the problem.

People are blaming matchmaking whenever they have a bad experience now, and it isn't even the problem. We've seen a guy complain about six stacks and then say SBMM needs to be implemented to fix that. Nope. Six stacks existed in SBMM. They were just in skill brackets not everyone saw. We've seen a guy complain about mercies over and over in IB, and then not only did he not even mention the absolutely broken zone lock mechanic in his post, but he posted a picture of a match that had this guy in it as an example: https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/profile/psn/spawn_dive/matches And then said SBMM would solve that issue. Again, no. That guy hasn't solo queued in anything for months and hasn't lost as a result. He farmed under SBMM just as he is farming now under CBMM. And the IB hunt mechanic got teams mercied over and over under SBMM. It was a meme within my clan. Literally 80% of our IB matches were mercies under SBMM. Took forever to do bounties because no match lasted long enough. SBMM wouldn't solve either of these issues. It would just consolidate them to the higher skill brackets, exactly like it did last time. Everyone is too concerned with solving their problems, rather than the "big picture" problems. So potential solutions? 1. Team matching and outlier protection across all playlist, especially IB. Stacks match stacks. Top sweatlords can't match bottom players at all. 2. IB lock mechnic needs a rework. It can either not happen at all, there needs to be some sort of cool down period for the team who did it, or a "revenge" period for the team that got smacked. Maybe if a player survives the hunt a lot of points are given? Or maybe each player just gets one life in the hunt? I'm not sure. But there needs to be something in place. That mechanic is easily abused if you lock the zones and then split a teams' spawns. And the easy argument is "control zones and then you won't get farmed." And while that is true, it's just not realistic to expect everyone to know how to play control it seems. Game mode has been around for 5 years and people still don't have a hang of it. And the moment one team has a player or two like that one their team, regardless of skill, the IB mechanic steamrolls over very frequently. Let me know what you guys think.

 • Iron Banner feels no different to me now than it did before. Neither does any other Crucible mode, so I'm not sure what the issue people have is. All Crucible modes have always been a means to an end for me. I'm playing IB for the pinnacles, I played Survival for Lunas and Recluse, I played whatever for Redrix... In other words, winning is never my focus. Sometimes I leave lopsided matches, but most of the time it's easier just to stay.
