Guardian Games feedback from my 16 yo

He's been playing Destiny since early D1 and mains a Titan. I've cleaned up paragraphs and grammar a bit but left his wording and context virtually untouched. -------------- Everything wrong with the guardian games event: Laurels: While the concept is interesting there are a few things things wrong with them. While I understand Bungie's reasoning for this they shouldn’t drop like gambit motes in pve activities they should always auto collect like hey do in pvp. The other thing that is flawed with them is their reliance on abilities. Bungie acknowledged one thing (hunter population) but they failed not notice a major flaw in the laurel system which they needed to for a competition between the classes. The potential for high laurel generation is not even across the classes. Warlocks have great options for pve laurel generation: Sunbracers plus Monte, top tree stormcaller, and a few others. For hunters, top tree Arc Strider (dodge punch spam), middle tree gunslinger plus Ophidia Spathe plus Monte, and one or two other setups. Now if u look at these setups you’ll see there is notthing super great for pvp Let’s take a look at titans: Armamentarium (double grenades with any grenade), shoulder charge with Monte, arc shoulder charge with insurmountable skull fort, Armamentarium plus bottom tree sentinel, and others. Now all these are great in pve, but they all have great potential in pvp also (the shoulder charge setups in particular). This is most likely the cause of it seeming so lopsided towards titans because they can complete laurel based objectives quicker. Stack this with the fact that they have the second highest population. The other classes never had a chance to catch up. The laurels should have dropped from a weekly or daily source rather than abilities because warlocks can mow hordes of enemy’s with their abilities in pve but there ability to get large amounts of pvp ability kills is limited. Now look at hunters they rely on mobility and sometimes even gun oriented perks to thrive. They're not made for ability spam. Titans have arguably the best pvp grenades and two ways to get double charges of them. Shoulder charge to provide an ability one shot in crucible and solid pvp supers all of this being just as efficient for laurels in pvp. All of this shows that Bungie doesn’t look before they leap. Medals: Not much wrong here besides that the gold medals should be for laurels and not the silver cause if you don’t focus on using abilities (constantly) you often complete gold before silver which is rather dumb. So Bungie, while the event is in concept a nice change of pace you failed to realize so much and failed to know your own game and again brought disappointment to an overall entertaining game. I hope eventually you can get things right the first time. Sincerely, A Titan Main -------------------

  • The PVP laurel generation side doesnt matter. You go into a 6v6 mode and you gonna get the laurels done no matter what. I main titan and I didnt make any special PVP setup for laurels, I just ran Burning Maul and the class item and got it done. Your team will also produce laurels for you and most of the matches there were more hunters than titans in my team, still got them done easy.
