I know I'm late but I think Eris....

.....has turned towards the dark. SPOILER AHEAD
At the end of Shadowkeep she touched that, and it's so powerful it changed her orb (theorized to be a fragment of an Ahamkara). She then smiled. I've been playing since D1 beta. She's NEVER smiled. Seriously. Once she talked about hope in D1, she still wasn't smiling
Further evidence is that she has obviously dabbled in the Darkness, granted she needed to do so to survive, but I had a gut feeling when I saw this cutscene. What do you think? It seemed a tad sinister. I know she gives off a weird look and vibe, but this seemed WAY obvious

 • She hasn’t. Take a look at the last page of Unveiling for instance. Eris considers the Darkness to be wholly evil. She considers that even if the world was balanced between Light and Dark that the world must fight the Dark, for if it is unchecked it shall only thrive. She also despises the Dredgens despite her own dabbling with Hive magic. Eris seeks to eradicate the Hive from existence and has now also come into contact with the God her foe serves. That smile Eris lets off in the cutscene tells me that this one lone Pyramid may be underestimating her abilities as a Lightless and thusly we may actually be able to use her research against the Pyramid Fleet when it arrives.
