About the reporting topic

Last Tuesday I played Iron Banner and matched someone with a really nice flawless emblem, paid ornaments and a good light level.. I was casually doing the Pinnacle bounties until, in the beautiful Russian Vostok, the guy started spraying me with the Ace of Spades. At first I didn't really notice, but after my death, he started spraying my teammate too! After saving the clip and rewatching it only once, I immediately knew he was cheating. Now my question is... Why Bungie, are we, YOUR community, not allowed to report people on your community forums to make your game better... I have a Steam account link, a Bungie.net account link AND video proof of this guy cheating, but I am not allowed to. What is the reason behind this, besides the excuse of name and account shaming. What is shaming about reporting someone that is literally destroying your game by cheating? I sincerely dislike the way this is done. Please, for the love of god, change this.
Now my question is... Why Bungie, are we, YOUR community, not allowed to report people on your community forums to make your game better...
The short TL;DR Version - because it's directly against the Code of Conduct. https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/48807
2. Attempts to name and shame suspected cheaters, rather than using this form. To NAME AND SHAME is to post information about another user with the intention of getting them banned or removed. While we appreciate reports about suspected cheaters, our forums are not the appropriate place to do so. This is to provide safety for both parties since it is possible the suspected cheater is not actually cheating. - To report a user for misconduct on our website, please use the “Report” button, located on every thread, post, user profile, private message, or clan chat. - To report potential cheaters in our games, please use this form.
The long version to your question: Bungie.net has never allowed harassment or naming and shaming other users. In fact, I'd go as far as to say basically any corporation, game studio, developer, AAA company doesn't allow this to happen on their own website/platform - if you find one, I'd love to see it. While your intentions are sound "to make your game better", that's just not how things result from what you're expecting. Making any accusation (true or false), spreads "witchhunting", a common term that comes up in these topics, which is a behavior that we don't tolerate and don't want to foster here. The fact is that you nor I have the tools or facts of what is actually going on. That's why reporting exists and why we ask you to do it - to get it over to the team at Bungie that can directly handle these situations. You can report individuals through this form here and use that as a guideline on how to handle this moving forward. But make no mistake, individuals that target specific users (or groups of users) will be removed from the forums here per Bungie Code of Conduct and Terms of Use.

    • I am also frustrated by how reporting is done. This is especially since it becomes much harder to report players who quit early after they pick up a win (or bail on your team to grief). The names of the remaining fireteam are no longer listed at the end (or even the middle) of matches. And even Steam's "Recently Played" list is far inferior to the old Battle.Net tracking. My fireteam and I are steering clear of Trials until we hear more about actions being taken by Bungie to stave off bad actors from the game. Don't they announce bans? Does Bungie look at accounts with previous VAC cheating histories? Why can't Bungie give us a "blacklist" of bad players already with a proven history of bad play?

    •
Now my question is... Why Bungie, are we, YOUR community, not allowed to report people on your community forums to make your game better...
Witch hunts. That is why. Just so you know, making a thread about a previously locked thread or topic generally gets shut down pretty quick also. With that being said... inb4ninjajustice

    • You are allowed to report people on the forums if they have a forum account You can report then through destiny And you can report them through steam/ps/xbox live. They don't allow naming and shaming because
You can't name and shame because mob mentality is dangerous. Ex: If your internet is acting up and you're lagging Then joe decides you must be lag switching as he's throuroughly pissed he lost his 9 match in trials, he posts your gamer tag on the forums Bob sees it, and bobs a little mentally unstable. So he looks up your info, and gets you swatted because he's bringing justice to a cheater. It's all fun and games till someone gets shot in real life. You guys(not you in particular) can't handle that level of "power" for lack of a better term
That also doesn't include people just ganging up on others just to be assholes, which we know for a fact happens. (see people getting booted after the final raid encounter)

    • I can’t see why people don’t get this. Let me give you an example, you are playing PVP, for some reason you or the game is lagging, to your opponent it looks like you are cheating (teleporting, not taking damage). He videos it, and posts it all over the forums, some people don’t believe you were cheating but enough people do believe you were cheating. they then proceed to attack you with private messages on here and your platform, some even hunt you down in game or try to hack your account to piss you off (extreme, I know). How do you feel now about publicly naming people?

      • I came back for IB, but after this one I'm actually done just deleted the game again. The quest was dumb, locked you from ranking until you completed it, and who thought using a bow at the end of it was a good idea with the AR meta spam fest going on? I also love how the PL advantage isn't working properly, and people at 957 can 1-2 tap me at 990+. Shouldn't I be more like those annoying fallen captains in the bunkers to them? Also, I love how we can't name and shame cheaters; however, Bungie is allowed to freely hand our IP addresses out to said cheaters so that they can flood us with packets due to the P2P aspect of their servers. One could argue in court that Bungie is an accomplice to said federal crime right there. I'm going back to arena shooters for PVP that use dedicated servers, and the developer doesn't lie about networking to cover their incompetence. If they, Bungie, feel so insulted I can once again prove that they are lying about networking.

      • Yes you are allowed to. Fill out the player reporting form, you can submit videos and his gamer tag as well as match history. It’s wayyyyyy more reliable that in game reporting, plus you get an email when your submission is reviewed. Why you have to jump through more hoops than an abused zoo lion to do it I have no idea, but it’s an option

        • I like that iron banner is supposed to use sbmm... So maybe i should take this as a compliment, however matching with a 6 stack clan of unbrokens was not for an exciting match.... I like to play hard but i don't want to have every match be a highschool locker room after football practice. No, just no, no one wants that. Anyone that says they do is lying to themselves. Dont even get me started on the sheer amount of cheating thats become so rampant. Ive said it before, every ib seems to keep getting worse.

        • Name + shame. Use the in game report system or the video submission space in the C.o.C.
