Season of the Drift... off to Sleep 💤 😴 Just get on with D3 bungie there’s no saving this ship, stop patching the holes they’re just too big. You can’t fix this game by carrying on how you were trained by Activision, that was what caused this mess. The bland, disconnected, shallow story (unless you read the game manual, grimoire) no Trials, Luna/NF auto aim bullshit is not Destiny any more. This game is done so move on. Become Legend should be replaced with Become Sleepy. PS Why is there not an audio version for the grimoire. Do you seriously expect people to read a large book when they’re trying to play the game? Are you stupid or lazy?

  • I’m willing to give Destiny 3 a chance, because Activision is gone and I have faith that bungie will make it great again with free reign. D1 was planned from before Activision were on board, so thats a much better demonstration of what Bungies Destiny would be and despite its issues it was a far more enjoyable game/grind than D2.

  • Exactly. Bungie you’re seriously slacking on this story delivery. The average player knows nothing about this world or its history. If the lore was audio to listen to while we play the game it would change everything.

  • That is pretty much the case but they’ll never admit it because then no one will buy d3. It’s not Activision bungie is who wrecked this game. Activision doesn’t and didn’t control the patches. They have blatantly ignored the player base. The way the drops are happening has been this way since forsaken except now they nerfed the powerful gear drops to match all the old weekly milestones making the grind even more dreadful.

No Activision didn’t make the patches or content but they set the time frame and so caused bungie to have to take the drip feed approach. Personally I preferred the better quality large occasional dlc’s with cinematic story, because I don’t want to read lore for hours when I’m playing a game, and as long as they were to do regular maintenance patches and events like festivals, IB and Trials in between then I see no reason why it wouldn’t work. As long the base game has the same fun factor that D1 had. It doesn’t work with D2 because the base game feels hollow somehow and doesn’t have the same replayability level, hence the player base drop off.
No Activision didn’t make the patches or content but they set the time frame and so caused bungie to have to take the drip feed approach.
The time frame was set with Bungie complete agreement when they signed the contract with Activision. There's just no way to excuse Bungie for that one too.

  • Oh I’m not excusing them by any means. I’m just saying that once they’d agreed to the contract they had to keep to the schedule and that meant not enough time to create high quality content and expansions. That’s all I’m saying, of course bungie was at the helm but Activision was the navigation system so to speak

I totally agree with that though Bungie had full creative liberty and should have come with something much better for the season pass, imo.

Definitely. But they were still under Activisions thumb of pressure when they drew up the plans for season pass. Now they’re just finishing rolling it out as we’ve payed for it. Let’s hope they add some cool stuff to it now they truly own the Destiny IP. They can’t afford for it to flop now, but I have a feeling they’re main efforts will be on whatever Destiny 3 turns out to be.

  •
Says there's no story then says nobody can read that much lore.
Story and Lore are not exactly the same and should be separated in the game.

  • Not that much this time. Bungie put the story in the lore for the season pass content. I guess that's what the OP was referring to (but it may not be that at all, he doesn't explain that part very well).

No I’m not, try using your brain. Hiding the story away in lore on a triple A game, is essentially the same as having no story. The mass majority of players will never read a lengthy novel of lore on a bright screen in tiny print when they want to be playing the game. So yes it’s exceptionally stupid and lazy. “Oh I’m going to play my game now, I’ve got some reading to do”

  • If you're into the lore you will, it's been a thing since d1, everyone complained they took grimoire out, hence it returned. If you can't be bothered to read it watch a youtubers video on it. Byf is a particularly good one. Very high quality.

  • Yeah I get it, I’ve playing since D1 y1 and I still barely read any of it. Why would anyone want to read when they turn their game on. I don’t buy a game to then have to research what the story is about, the game should tell you, that’s what you pay bungie for. The story of Destiny, had it been played out fully, is incredible and to see it hidden away in a side menu that most players will never even look at is a disgrace. There should at least be an audio version that you can play in the background while you play the actual game. At least then we’d have a clue what’s going on in this shit show

  • I wouldn't say it's hidden now. The grimoire was hidden on their website. These drop and are well presented. I just think is really unfair to call the writers of the lore lazy when they have created such an in depth universe that would never be able to be portrayed in cutscene and campaign missions. Forsaken is the best they have managed in this regard.

I’m not calling the writers lazy. No way. I’m calling bungie as a whole. On their lazy attempt at portraying this lore with simple cards, that MOST players tick off the list but never actually read. If there was an audio version, then you could play and listen, learning about the story bungie cant be bothered to tell properly. *But then they can’t even keep their forums comment threads to read out in order, so I guess I’m asking to much 🤦‍♂️

  • Mass effect destroys this theory btw. Bungie should have a hell of alot more playable story. I hate reading lore to find out the story. Basically instead of playing a game...we are grinding random meaningless events in order to unlock the ability to read about the characters who actually made a difference . Why not let US fight an ahamkara? Why not US investigating the disappearance of main characters? Why not instead of unlocking the ability to read about a cool firefight or a peice of city history...let us actually make the history, and fight those battles... Because they didnt realize that's what they did. We play destiny lite, and the lore tells us what it would be like if we were actually badasses with real missions.
