My very first (and only) play of Gambit Prime was against a full stack team. Played it 'til the end and logged out of the game. Poor content + Shitty matchmaking = lost of interest in this game. After thousands of hours playing this franchise since 2014, all I can say is: good luck trying to maintain this game alive financially, only with the hardcore players. Because it really looks that's what you guys at Bungie are trying to do, cater to the hardcore, no lifer players while blatantly ignoring the feedback of the rest of the community.

 • My guess is that the hardcore are probably all people who regularly play with the same people therefore always have a team for crucible, gambit and raids. This is discouraging for the “less hardcore” group out there to try and enjoy these modes. Ultimately I think it drives them away from the game. Couple that with a steep infusion system that makes experimentation costly as well as limiting to other activities and the results are less and less of a player pool. I don’t know if m considered hardcore or not. I try to play all the activities and I have loads of hours in both games. I run all three class of characters and managed to get them to 650 before this dlc. Even I finally got burnt out and my friends considered me an addict. I’ve done all the raids but the last one but I didn’t enjoy them. I always felt like I was invited to a group of friends game and I was just a guest there walking on eggshells as to not upset anyone and get kicked. As an adult it’s kind of embarrassing to have those feelings again that I would have thought I left in my childhood. Sorry for the tangent but I think the bottom line is accessibility is important and catering to the hardcore or even just the casual group is alienating and drives a portion of the player base away.

 • I completely agree with your reasoning. I also invested a few thousands of hours in this franchise since 2014 and it's really frustrating watching how quickly Bungie moved back to it's old hubris and arrogant attitude after Forsaken launch. They started D2 with a mix of casual and PvP oriented philosophy that 100% failed in both sides. Then they searched advice with streamers and youtubers and changed course to the complete opposite, a hardcore, sweaty, ultra grindy philosophy that only pleases the small amount of hardcore and no lifer players of this game. They seem to be unwilling to find a middle-ground for Destiny 2, like they did with Destiny 1. I agree that this move will only make more and more players leave the game, which makes me also wonder if they are not just letting Destiny die and their next game will be something completely different.

That being said I could see them not wanting to fracture their player base even more and have more of a draw to their new game. This might help with that but at the same time damage their brand loyalty.

 • My first game was also against a four stack, but I caused them to leave the game.
