Oh I do see the bigger picture, and yes, I do agree that too many people leaving will be a serious problem for Bungie, one that I am sure they are aware of. However it is not a problem that can be dealt with overnight, but it is a problem that can be dealt with. At this moment in time Bungie are in a period of transition, the ball is firmly in their court with Activision cutting them loose, so to speak.
I am thinking that Bungie will be "biting the bullet" for this season and putting all of their effort into making sure that Season of Opulence is more successful and year 3 is even better. Personally I think that Bungie need to improve the base game with changes such as...
- Increasing the number of available strikes each season, even if that number is only by one.
- Increasing the strike loot pool so that every strike has a Nightfall specific weapon and cosmetic item.
- Adding in an armour set that can only be earned in Nightfall strikes with perks that are beneficial to players in the strike.
- Make grinding strikes and story missions a viable way to actually power up by including a rank system for the Vanguard the same way they have one for Crucible and Gambit and have rewards for resetting your rank. There can then be rewards that are unlocked by resetting your Vanguard rank more than once.
- Adding in new Crucible maps each season.
- Adding in new Crucible game modes.
- Bringing back Faction Rallies in a way that is actually beneficial to helping players increase their power level.
- Ensuring that all exotic weapons have a masterwork catalyst and that new weapons have their exotic catalyst ready to go shortly after the exotic weapon becomes available.
This would go a long way to helping players enjoy the game a bit more, especially for solo players.
