The duration need not be increased, but (slightly) increased sword damage would help.
Icarus Dash was already reduced from 10 seconds to 6, which is far more than many had hoped to gain. It's fine.
Yes, there needs to be the use of your melee while supering for the reason you specified.

I get what you're saying but I'm not asking for additional damage just slightly more time to do the damage I want to do and when I want to it.

Gotcha. Not more swords (because of duration increase) just simply more roaming time?
