My OC - The Archival Mind (2.0 because Bungie killed off the other one)
<So yeah. This is a thing that I did while bored. I actually came up with the idea in October, can't really remember what sparked it. I guess I wanted to make myself a Vex Mind based on my username. Then CoO came around and -blam!-ing Khartion, Archival Mind appears then dies in 2 seconds. I still don't know if that's a coincidence or not.
Anyway... this is a thing. I have to get this out, as always, that I am not a professional artist in anyway. I just sketch shit from time to time.

[b]Directives[/b] - Document races, technology~|PROTECT THE GARDENER|~{SERVE THE DARKNESS}~

[b]Vex[/b] - Pretty straight forward. Just a Vex Mind with corrupted Radiolarian Cells and a chassis that looks suspiciously similar to the aesthetic of the Pyramid Ships. I wanted a sword arm because that's kickass. It doubles as an axe, too.
Colors: Black chassis, silver frame (like Quantum Vex), red lights, red sword
Height: Half the size of a Gate Lord, twice as big as a normal Minotaur (basically as tall as Viadion on Io)

[b]Human[/b] - Hey how the flying F[b]UC[/b]K can a Vex Mind transform? Hey remember how I said these are corrupted Vex cells? Just think of a Vex Daemon but outside of a simulation. After all, being corrupted by both Light and Darkness can have... interesting results.
I based the design off a Vex-ified Trials and WotM D1 armor. The sharper lines are holographic effects like Dendron has. You know, the Cyclops with the purple face shield.

[b]Stage 1[/b] - Minor side effects to the body. Nothing serious. May notice left fingers are turning.
[b]Stage 2[/b] - New armor but the left forearm is pretty much -blam!-ed. Also the legs are now Vex.
[b]Stage 3[/b] - The Vex finally decided what to turn him into... but your right arm is gone thanks to some pesky Hive. Here's a replacement arm based on the new end-transformation.
[b]Stage 4[/b] - Well, the Taken are back and there goes the left arm. Looks like the Darkness in 'em has it covered though. So here's another arm. Might want to use it to get the Light back after Ghaul shut it off and his Ghost died after.

Honestly I don't know everything that went through my head while making this. I do remember a few things though. I wanted to base him slightly (slightly, trust me I look way worse) off myself and also Cinder from RWBY, hence the facial scar. When I was making this set of drawings, I was on a RWBY-binge... which is also why the music I plan on making for the "Searching the Archive" strike I made a while ago is going to be loosely based off of Cinder's theme from RWBY.
On the bottom is a "Corrupted Radiolarian Cell". It is "shaped" like the Dark, acts like the Vex, and shines like the Light.

Just some Vex enhanced Guardian moves. Attacks based off the Voidwalker class.

[b]Descendant[/b] - Color changes to match the "Descendant Vex Chrome". The lights turn yellow. Severe damage and rust over years of fighting and merely existing. Radiolarian Cells are no longer corrupted, as there is no more Light or Darkness. One can't exist without the other.
[b]Crystalline[/b] - Based kinda off of SpaceGodzilla and... no that's it. Red lights still, but white instead of black chassis. Radiolarian "glass" peaks out from the core.
So that's it. That's my OC. I'm done now. Friendly Vex over. I have two more things to go through, both Vex related. Then I'll go back to posting actual relevant information for this damn franchise. Yes this might seem half-assed... of maybe I'm being too hard on myself again.

1 ReplyOh my god, honestly, RWBY for the win. More importantly though, I really both like and dislike the character concept. Let me explain. The idea of a character that has both been/is a Guardian, a Vex Mind, and partially (?) Taken is cool. But just at the same time it feels...for a lack of better words, and I apologize, but...stupid. I’m physically incapable of articulating this correctly, but here’s my analogy. Have you ever looked up or come across an OC for some fandom, where the OC is trying to do too much? Like, the character in question has all the powers of all of the good guys and all of the bad guys and everything, or some special power that has no explanation or doesn’t make sense within the universe? I know I have, and this is what this comes it comes off as to me, just in a much less extreme way. It’s cool to be a Taken and a Guardian and a Vex Mind, but it feels like the character is trying to do and be too much at once. And I know this is nitpicking and you don’t intend for this character to be your ultimate creation, but that comes off in the character's backstory as well. A Guardian...who happened to be fully Vexified (which is plausible, though we’ve never seen anything beyond Asher's arm and perhaps Kabr drinking the radiolaria from the Oracles in the VoG, so we don’t know exactly how that works), which the process also happened to render a Vex Mind yet still has remnants of his Light, and is [i]then[/i] partially but not completely Taken by Oryx, gaining Taken powers alongside the Vex and Guardian Ones. It’s too convoluted, and it’s too coincidental that all of these things would happen to the character and that they would retain all of those things. Then there’s also the lore logic behind it, like what are the ramifications of a Vex Mind having access to Light? Would the conversion process allow Guardians to keep their Light? Or their original personality and not belong to the Vex Collective, or later, follow the will of Oryx? How can the Light still exist in them if they were Taken? How can they be all of these things simultaneously?
