Update reality check

I spent too much time on the forums during the time of Destiny. But I learned something about Bungie. They say what they want, irrespective of what's been written in the feedback forum. They make the game they want. They add the features they want. And they talk to the players in pseudo-roleplay speak. And when Destiny 2 was announced I made a decision I didn't stick to. I told myself I wouldn't read or write in the forums. I also made a decision to accept Destiny 2 for whatever it was because I knew Bungie wasn't going to change who they were. And they didn't disappoint. They are handling Destiny 2 the exact same way they handled Destiny. They way they talk to the community, they way they release content, and their plans for the future of the game. Yesterday's update essentially said "we're going to give you features you already had in Destiny, but that we withheld from Destiny 2 for the specific purpose of giving it to you at a later date so that you will be excited because you think you're getting something new." And yes, there are people excitedly posting in feedback that these are the features they've been asking for. Go figure. If the Destiny franchise is to be a game as a service, then why didn't all the features and gameplay modes that existed in Destiny as of October 2016 make into Destiny 2? Why did we get a stripped down version of the crucible at launch? But the biggest sin committed in the update yesterday was not talking about and apologizing for the reason that #removeeververse became a thing. They simply ignored it by saying the the "scales were tipped to far in Tess's favor" Really? That's it? Pages and pages of #removeeververse and that's all you have to say? I'm not suggesting that anyone boycott Destiny 2 or is stupid for playing it. No. We each have to make a decision that best suits us. What I am saying is that we all need to acknowledge that no matter what we say or do, Bungie will never acknowledge our posts outright and make an apology to the player base for hiding content behind a paywall. Nor acknowledge there culpability in the matter. Instead speaking in pseudo-roleplay speak as if Tess is a real person who has anything to do with what's for sale at Eververse. Hey Bungie, we're listening.

When I read the blog post all I could think was "this is the same ole song and dance we got with Destiny 1." It's basically come full circle with destiny 2. Just about everything we're getting should have already been in the game on launch day.

    • If people don’t read this persons post, and accept its complete truth, you totally missed the boat. Perfectly said my friend!! Bungie is playing the community like a fiddle right in front of their faces. Thanks for the dose of sanity...your next ten drinks are on me...

Finally! Thank you for identifying the fact that with the exception of a ranked playlist, everything else about the Crucible changes is stuff that they left out of the game - at no one’s request, FFS - and will SELL BACK TO US in the spring expansion. How -blam!-ing magnanimous of them. Exacerbated Timon: ...and everybody’s okay with this? *arms outstretched; panting* Edit: Haven’t seen you around for a long time, LZ. Hope all’s well.

      • Maybe if the remove Everese wasn't so childish it would have gotten a better response. Maybe since Destiny silver was the third best seller in the playstation store during the event means half those stupid post were written by people buying silver.

        • #longliveD3 Ok so here's what I'd like to see in D3 1. Three primary slots no heavy.(sounds fun) 2. No supers. (they're lame) 3. Emote dance raid battles. (Tess stands in the boss room so you can buy the latest emotes. ) 4. 1v1 and 2v2 crucible only. (Just because why not ?) 5. Raid bosses should be Luke Smith's face reskinned on all the alien races bodies. Btw D3 supposedly in development as we speak. Stop giving feed back on d2 it will be good in 2 years. We need to be focused on D3 so maybe we can have a good 3 years instead of 1. 6. 3 hr cooldown for grenade and melee abilities. 7. A Tess hub everywhere I go even in orbit. I want Tess to fly in my ship everywhere I go so I can beat all the reskinned aliens with my cool cosmetics. 8. No sparrows. Mercury made me realize that if there's no sparrows it makes the game feel tons bigger. 9. How can I forget raid timers and campaign mission timers please !!! 10. All new weapons must be earned from "frick that's bright " engrams . So you will have that uncommon gun you get at the beginning until you earn like 100000 xp .
#longliveD3
• Unfortunately, I also went against something I told myself I wouldn't do: pre-order D2 and any DLC. I thought I had learned my lesson from D1, but apparently it took me another mistake for me to learn again to hold my excitement for something that proves it's value consistently. Where I'm at now: painfully watching a mere fraction of my money spent on this game only to witness a major insufficiency in content, and waiting for Bungie to wake up and smell the fertilizer that is our critiques on this franchise. I'm happy to have heard back from Chris Barrett in a more direct manner. However, we all still have to wait for these changes to be implemented for the game to change. What can we do as a community? Boycott Eververse? That's one move. How about Boycotting D2? How about not buying a single thing from Bungie, including playing their game?

            • Agreed, I hate having my input ignored and treated like I'm a damn comic character in a fake world I paid real money to be supported by content to play not to buy again from eververse with cash or rng chance, and Rng that seems to be far better for the fanboys for some reason (unless they lie as much as bungie does) Why have dlc packs if they need eververse Eververse was meant for meaningful seasonal and event content not for a actual constantly filled store with nothing meaningful added to the game for the ppl who do want to play But I guess the spoiled brats and people in presidential rate jobs won't care about the normal Joe's who have less money keeping higher ups jobs secure with their efforts And before you say it I'm not a self entitled child as I know fanboys will say , I am a 37 year old man who enjoys Destiny from time to time sometimes to much . More than anything I value my well being and to manipulate players ,children and others into believing this shit is ok is bullshit We all have jobs right? Why does bungie get a free pass selling back old assets like a thrift store not expecting the customer to say anything I'm guessing we all paid close to 100 bucks but why do we get dirty old socks in return?

              • If I had to guess I'd imagine Chris Barrett is a pissed off employee for having to literally reimplement everything he had fixed in D1 over the years

Hmmmm, pondering ..... D2 dev rebooted in 16 Need 3 years for AAA dev Update is really to finish D2 Will we get new and innovative stuff in 2019 .... when D3 release is likely 2020 ? Add to this Bungie’s very poor project mngt practice in evidence during Halo, D1 (reboot) and now D2 (reboot). One wonders how much slip may occur in 2018. Best guess; Not much innovation can happen in D2 as it’s development lost a year between 2014 and 2015 which is now being recovered in 2018 and the studio will have now commenced the D3 development cycle. If memory serves, I thought a read a snippet somewhere that Jones is directing Bungie to explore “other projects” as well ? This means D2 WILL BECOME D1 albeit w/ better story, bigger worlds and QoL improvements in inventory management. That’s fine for casuals but I’m a hobbyist and was looking for a better story, old worlds plus new worlds, innovation in pve encounters and ranked pvp to continue the journey to become legend. Regrettably this now seems unlikely to be the case during D2. For me there are 2 choices; accept and play or leave and take a look at D3. Only thing keeping me playing is butter smooth gun play, supporting friends and my clan duties. But I’m thinking reeeeeaaaaaal hard now about just moving on and am very interested in finding a new Destiny like game.

I made a choice. I will not support bungie with my cash ever again unless someone like Marty comes back and takes control. That will never happen. Bungie has, as far as i know, all the way back to halo 3, done things i don’t like. Flipping levels around to be played backwards and having extremely weak primary weapon play. Destiny brought something new and unique to FPS that i enjoyed immensely, they gave us (briefly, as they have failed to repeat) incredible co-op play in the form of the VOG and other raids from D1 and i am thankful for that experience. They have continuously failed at bringing an E-Sport caliber PVP game type and their determination to do so, along with obvious apparent greed, have completely ruined not only Destiny but the Bungie reputation as well. Bungie completely refuses to listen to the feedback from the once hard-core Destiny fan base which is the only course for saving that reputation. The future is this, more and more players will turn their back on this developer until Bungie ceases to exist or some one else buys them out. Either way it is highly unlikely that we will EVER see a destiny game again with the lasting appeal of the first one.

              • I muted so many people posting that #removeeververse rubbish if there posts didnt have some constructive points as to why they dont like Tess or how they would fix it. Honestly bugie have bigger things to deal with then some kids crying about some cosmetic rubbish which a vendor has.

So if they’re singing the same old song and treating D2 exactly how they treated D1, and that’s a bad thing, then why did you choose to support D2, or continue to support it? Seems to me that if you didn’t like how things were being run, continuing to support that financially would be the wrong move.

                  • I drew similar conclusions from D1 as well. I really can’t see how people can defend this sub standard company anymore. The arrogance is overwhelming. The lying is obvious. The apologies that never happen. I have no faith in this dev anymore. Bungie have confirmed to me that AAA games are heading in a bad direction.

                  • Well said! Except one thing. My Dad had a saying that I always hated. "Actions speak louder than words." This game is a huge scam. Bungle's actions have shown it time and again. Bungie...I am not a fool. I am not listening. You will get not one dime from me unless I see a game I genuinely want to play. Period. And I will see it firsthand BEFORE your hand goes anywhere near my !#$%@ wallet.

Since we are on the topic of checking reality... Since Bungie is a private company it would make decisions based on revenues and other data. And would not be unduly influenced by a very small minority of customers. As someone that isn't an employee or shareholder, I would never expect them to do anything I suggest on an internet forum. I have yet to see anyone follow up their wants and desires with sound business case analysis, a viable value proposition or anything close to relevant market analysis. If you can do any of that, you know what...you would likely get a PM and an offer to interview with them as they are hiring. You want to make positive changes, you make them for all your customers. That's reality, the rest is starside gaurdian.

                      • It's just over and never going to change, not sincerely. They will always try to appear to give with one hand while hatching plots to take with the other hand. I made this as a farewell to Bungie for good and why people are abandoning this game. "A brief synapsis. WHY players are ABANDONING Destiny." https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/241892689?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

                      • Well they did built Destiny 2 around their motto: "WE MAKE GAMES WE WANT TO PLAY."

But HERE, apparently, it's ok to pay a premium and then they forget your steak, salad, and never fill up your drink. F U BUNGLE.
