Offtopic, how do you deal with moments of anxiety, Intrusive thoughts, or negativity?

I'm finding myself more and more consumed by negative shit throughout the day. It tends to just send me into a shitty mood until I can just get somewhere private and let the thoughts just fade away themselves. I'm not sure what causes it exactly. Sometimes it's just a random thought that spirals out of control, usually with no real "reason" to it. For example I could just start panicking about the reasons I could get fired. Sometimes it's just because I'm jumping to conclusions and inception-ing my way through more layers of anxiety. Take the earlier example and add what if questions to it? What if I'm terrible at everything, what if I get hurt at the job, what if I get yelled at, what if I panic? Most of the time I get sent into these negativity spirals because the thoughts just won't stop. Those of you that know what I mean or experience the same things...what do you do to stop falling into this pattern of negativity?

  • Music. Although, I don't worry like you do. If I were to be fired, I wouldn't care. It's not the end of my life. I have obtained a special skill throughout my life, which is "not giving a single fudge". Sure, it might not always be good, but it sure makes me feel happy. I tend to think about the bigger picture. Not just living, working at a job until a certain age. No. I wonder what comes after life. And what happens now is just.. stuff. I try to make it good. Life should be enjoyed, and if you have the possibility of doing so, then that is wondrous! Lots of people can't because they have families to take care of, are sick and can't do much or are simply put not in a stable condition. I myself am looking into just exploring the world in the future. Saving up to go around the world and experience life instead of always doing the same daily routine and checking things out on my phone 90% of the time. I can work during my travels for either food, shelter or cash. Sure, it's a dangerous place out there, but I won't go unprepared. I am no fool. But yeah. Try to take life easy, and not worry so much. I've stopped doing that a long time ago and feel fantastic that way! As long as I am healthy, I am happy.

  • I don't easily get sad or depressed because I turn everything into comedy if it is going to hurt unless it's like a death.

There's tons of people I'd rather not be around. I don't hate them, being around them just... bothers me. I mean, I don't even get mad, per-say. My stomach just tries to eat itself and my mouth turns sour. Usually I can combat this by focusing only on my breathing or thinking about puppies. Overall bad moods can be snuffed out by videogames, pets, drawing, and internet browsing. For anxiety, cracking my wrists works wonders.
I'm a pretty depressed person but I do my best not to kill the mood. Most of the time, I'm the one making the shitty jokes.
If this is real, then stop asking us assholes here & go talk to a shrink or a counselor. Sometimes you just need someone who is a random person to hear your shit and not judge you. There is nothing wrong with that, it can be very relaxing.

          • I am bi polar so sometimes i am really happy for months on end or i get that emotional high. Sometimes i get really depressed. Plus i have ADD but that only affects me when tired. Unfocused or drunk. First thing is to figure out if this is new or old behavior. If it is something that you constantly do with a behavior pattern then figure out how to control it. Once you master that and inject logical reasoning into it. All seems to fall into place. If you are under duress or stress this amplify's those feelings. I have been in situations with the emotions you described with many things going on. Try meditation or clearing your mind. Focus on something you enjoy like a hobby. Take a step back and then inject reason into these thoughts. Trust me when i was in my twenty's i had things going on and it took me years to break those bad habits. just remember the mind is a muscle. So you have to work at it. Once you understand the cause of it and why you do it. Get to the root of the problem i say. Figure it out and change it if you can. If anything take a deep breath. Think of something that you enjoy or some joke. Sometimes when things become heated that moment you switch gears gives you time to switch back to think clearer. I hope this helps you.

          • Start a work out routine even if you don't feel like. Or walks/exposure to sunlight and fresh air while doing a brisk walk is suggested to help some. Above would likely help, science is on their side. Something about boosted circulation, metabolism, and release of compounds that negate what you're feeling lately.

The first thing you need to do is figure out a way to calm yourself down. Work out. Go for a hike. If you're at work, go on a stroll outside the building for a second. Once you're in control of yourself, you'll need to reach out to someone. It could be a friend, loved one, if you know a therapist, or even just your regular doctor. Let someone else know what you're dealing with and lean on them for support in your tough times. You're not alone and isolating yourself can make things worse. You'll also need to accept the fact that you aren't perfect. You need to be able to deal with your faults without tormenting yourself for anything you are feeling inadequate about. And always keep in mind things will get better with time. We all have good seasons and bad seasons, they are inevitable. There will is a better future for you, all you gotta do is keep pushing. P.S. Also do nice things for people. Do charity, volunteer if you can. Helping other people can benefit your mental health greatly. You don't have to be in the best point in your life to help others.

            • I personally just choose not to focus on the negatives. Negativity leads to more negativity. Not something i need in my life as it'll just drag me down into a hole that's hard to get out of. Just stay positive. It'll always be better in the end.

              • You didn't cover intrusive thoughts, man. I get them a lot, it's kind of like this subconscious urge to go against everything you have learned is acceptable, despite your actual feelings about it. For example, getting the urge to stab your friend in the jugular just because.
