Increasing light
Hey everybody, I currently have a hunter, light level 298, and a titan, light lever 295. Recently I've been getting engrams in the 260-285 range with the occasional 292 that really can't compete with my current gear. The highest drop I've had in a while was a 310 from the raid. Does anyone know how I can get my light to 300 so I can hit more 310 drops?

Participate in the Iron Banner coming up in a few days, do the bounties, get to rank five. I started the last one at 250 light, ended at 299 - 300. This one may get me to 306 - 310. I pray to RNGsus everyday.

Do the normal raid. You can easily do it in the high 200s. Find group on LFG. Quickest route to get to mid 300s then you can get carried in hard raid to get a few 310+ items.

I was right there with you. Iron Banner is right around the corner. Commit to it! Another way I've been able to get my weapons built up, is to buy a LOT of Three Of Coins from Xur on the weekends. They're come in packs of 5 3OC for 7 strange coins. Then with those, check around on the Web for techniques on farming exotic engrams the quickest and easiest. Don't get discouraged. I used like 10 of the 3 of coins in one day and didn't get one exotic engram. I was gonna give up on 'em myself until I saw a post similar to this one. The next day I went back for some 3 of coins farming, and the RNG gods were pleased with me that day, cuz I was getting a drop about every 2-4 uses of 3OC. All three of my characters sit about around 303-308, and I can get one to 310 if I need to. Good luck and happy grinding :)

1 ReplyThe grind will be real trust me. I have a 320 and two 319s. Do the raid and weekly challenges for the raid. Do IB as this can get you up to 320 gear from random end game drops or the rank 5 packages. Play Trials as well. Trials can drop gear just from playing that can be over 300. The silver tier bounty has a chance to drop a 320 exotic gear or 310 weapon. The gold bountie can drop a weapon that is 300+. Good Luck. You can add me and I will try to help when I can, but fallout and the division has my atention right now. Still if I'm on Destiny I don't mind helping. The biggest grind will be ghost and class item. If you did Crimson Doubles then you will have the ghost part done.

You get a 310 artifact for reachng rank 3, and a 310 ghost plus a 310 - 320 piece of gear for hitting rank 5 per character. After you reach rank 5 you also have a chance of a ghost dropping 310 - 320 as a post game reward. You can do this for each character. Nightfall is another way to get gear that can be 300+ as a post game reward, but it's not always guaranteed. This week I only received 290 ish gear. This can be done once a week per character. Raiding is another option. The best gear you can get from normal mode will be 310, and hard mode can net you 320 gear. Doing the challenge mode (which changes weekly from war priest to golgoroth to oryx) will give you a guaranteed 310 artifact and piece of gear for normal mode and a guaranteed 320 artifact and piece of gear for hard mode. This can be be done once a week per character per difficulty. Getting your exotic sword would help if you don't have one of those yet, as they always drop at 310. Other than that, your other option is to wait for another timed event that offers gear rewards. Sparrow racing was giving up 320 helmets and 320 class items as post game drops after you reached rank 3. Crimson doubles offered 320 ghosts as post game drops. No word on when or if these game modes will be back or what they will offer, but hopefully Bungie will keep implementing timed events with worthwhile rewards. Edited: Mentioned challenge mode drops in raid.

Do the nightfall, kings fall raid and it's challenge mode (guaranteed 310 items for normal mode and 310 / 320 items for hard mode). Those are the ONLY ways to get over 300 light items. Hard mode gives you 310+ items. You can do trials of osiris on the weekends too. You can get over 300 light stuff too.

Hop into the raid on normal first. Next week is Warpriest challenge, which is the easiest challenge for lower light guardians. Do the challenge next tuesday for a garunteed 310 artifact and heavy/sniper. That should raise your light a bit and you can do the same on hard mode for a 320 artifact and heavy/sniper after

Next Tuesday is warpriest challenge. You can get a 310 heavy weapon and artifact . 320 if you try it on hard .

1 ReplyThe raid is the best idea, but there are other ways, you can always do daily bounties to get reputation and to get packages from vendors. Also you could try out the nightfall and weekly heroics. Trials is also a viable option. You could tune into twitch streamers or you could go on lfg to find help
