No need for advice, already got my tatt ;)

I've been thinking about this for the longest. I have piercings ( nose, both helix) Personally my nose ring hurt the most, I heard its extra layers; my ears took me about 9 months to finally heal. I love henna tattoos the most. I'm going to get my first tattoo but not sure how it will feel. Here's some pics of where I want the tattoo and how. Where does it hurt the most? How long will take for a tattoo to finally heal?? I need advice on what to do, I don't care what you like or don't like. I'm getting an Arabic and Farsi tattoo, I'm fluent in Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi. So I know what it's going to say, no need to worry about that. This is not what I want it to say, I have my own choice of words, but this is where I want it and how. I'm going to do the back and possibly the arms of my mother and fathers name in Farsi. http://imgur.com/a/KlKWT Edit: I appreciate all you caring and lovely people who are so concerned about my body and what my body will look like when I'm older, thanks mom and dad ❤ Edit: the original post was if anyone had advice on what to expect and what to do and what NOT to do after you get a tattoo, but now since I got my tattoo today I don't need any more advice. Thanks so much for those who took the time out to respond to my post!! And everyone else who was so negative go ahead and kick rocks you basic losers.

My advice, don't do it. Tattoos are a huge turn off. When you get old they get all saggy and wrinkly.

    • It annoys me checking this thread and seeing the "don't do it" replies. 1) not your call 2) believe it or not, people don't get tattoos for you. If you find them unattractive, no one cares. No one is trying to appeal to you. 3) "you'll regret it when you're old". Personally, if I'm old and I don't have any regrets, then I haven't lived enough. Laser removal is a thing if you're that concerned, and even so, why would you spend your best years worrying about how you look in your worst? 4) believe it or not, tattoos can be extremely helpful. The potential to express yourself and significant moments in life through art, decorating yourself with something unique, it can do wonders for a sense of identity, confidence and self esteem. I don't know why people think it's okay to tell people how they should look. If we all looked the same, then everyone would be plain af. Don't promote that. Hope the tattoo goes wonderfully.

        • Not sure on what you should get, but there's more then we both can think. I guess you can start with something small, and as a first try to get it in a concealed area. (Only as an experimental test) There's so many tattoos I want to get its crazy. Don't have any yet but will get some in the time. Looking to start out on small symbols, then get a tribal from my neck down my chest and arms... maybe back too. Maybe a couple flowers here and there. And my last name. Who knows I may change my mind but I know I'm definitely getting one.

          • The pain isn't all that bad depending on the location. Obviously places that are boney (ribs, elbow, collarbone, spine) are going to hurt more than places like your forearm and calf. The more muscle/fat, the less it's going to hurt. It also depends on your pain threshold. I remember I almost walked out of the parlor when I got my first one because the guy in front of me (dude was huge, at least 6 ft , 250 lbs) was crying like a baby.

I wouldn't buy the products they try to give you for cleaning it, all you need is a scentless shampoo to clean it, scentless lotion and Aquafor to help it heal. A lot of artists have a lot or differing opinions on how to clean a tattoo, but the most important thing is to constantly keep it clean. For the first couple of days I've heard it recommended to wash up to 5 times a day to keep it clean. I'm sure someone here will disagree. Tattoo healing is unique to everyone, but they should all go through a similar process. Know that the bold colors your tattoo has immediately after getting it won't last. The first day it'll swell and slowly die down. The skin will be sensitive. It is SO important to keep the skin clean and hydrated so it doesn't crack or get infected. Eventually your skin will peel, and excess ink will begin to peel off. Its important to NOT peel it off yourself and simply let it fall off on its own. Yea, that means sometimes skin will be loose and flaky but you can't peel it off till it falls. Afterward, the tattoo will lose a little color as it heals under the skin, by this time you're done up top. But if I'm correct you shed a layer below the skin. Then the tattoo gets the color you're gonna have for a while. During the healing process, no swimming or sunburns, can really damage tattoos. If you want something small, like wording, they're probably going to use a lining needle. This cuts deeper and narrower than shading needles, and imo isn't as irritable. These don't peel as much up top, so if all you're gonna get is similar to the examples you won't have to worry too much about it. Whatever you get needs to be spaced, with enough room for the ink to spread out as you age. Very real chance if it isn't large enough an i could end up looking like an l or an e could look like a blotted c because of ink spreading (here are some examples I found http://imgur.com/a/mZ0zY ). Don't take Tylenol or anything before you get your tattoo. Some of them are blood thinners and will make you bleed more during the session. It's better to just take the "pain" and move on. Make sure you're confident with the shop you're going to. I made the mistake of not researching thoroughly and didn't get the best tattoo, luckily a better artist (who was conveniently much cheaper) was able to cover it up. Read reviews, and find a shop in your area that's best. Highest prices aren't always the best artists. Some do it for their love of ink, and they're typically the preferable artists Wear loose clothing Go small, want to add on later? Go for it, but start small so you can get a taste of tattoos and what it's like. Plus, you'll be more prepared next time. Enjoy it, ink is addictive as hell and fun.
