WHY EVEN HAVE A FEEDBACK FORUM??? [TAKE TWO~] Cosmo? DeeJ?

So I'm still working on the two posts that people keep asking me about, wondering when I'll be getting them up. Just to clarify, this is not either of them. THIS post is actually a recurring thought that keeps coming to me the more I keep reading the forum. People who generally follow me know that I spend less time making posts and more time responding to the posts of others and show them support. That being said? I really gotta ask this question for the second time now. I made a post about this MONTHS ago which was at the center of a whole ridiculous matter in its own right. (No reason to further expand on all of that, but for anyone interested feel free to shoot me a PM or whatever) So yeah, why does Bungie even bother having a Feedback Forum? I mean, if anyone gives negative feedback they tend to get attacked by others. Or you'll get the fans who respond to you acting like they are from Bungie and think they can speak on their behalf. To be quite frank, I'm rather astonished that the Community Managers don't address these people who are literally acting as if they represent Bungie. But its whatever, I guess. That in itself isn't the actual point of this post. No, the BIG THING I'd like to focus on is the general disregard for major topics. And by major I mean MAJOR, as in you're seeing it come up just about everywhere or its such a huge subject that Trending is dominated by it. I mean, how big exactly does an issue need to be before there is something actually done about it? And I've seen crap recently like on Forbes or on here from people who say that its just the "vocal few" standing out in the forums. But what I fail to understand is how does ANY OF THAT possibly take away from the value of what is being said? Do you REALLY need there to be millions of people signing off on a petition or all posting about the same thing to finally decide that what is being said actually matters? MAJOR TOPICS IN QUESTION... 1: Optional Matchmaking for Endgame Content. 2: Year 1 Legendary and Exotic Weapons/Armor Continued Ascension. 3: Unfair Pricing for UK Players. 4: The Removal of Year 1 Content and TTK Paywalls for Non-Buyers. 5: Lack of Rewards/Service/Benefits for Year 1 Players REGARDLESS of having TTK or Not. 6: Content Licensing Transfer Issues. (Most recent from what I've heard/seen) Bare in mind, this list actually keeps growing. The only item that has been checked off of it is the "Lack of Vault Space" topic but that's it. Originally, you didn't have NEARLY these many problems to deal with, and yet every month it feels like there's just more being added. There's no reason for me to get into each individual topic here. The thing I'm trying to bring attention to is that it shouldn't matter if its ONE PERSON or a MILLION. Each and every complaint has a valid point. Every piece of feedback should be important and SHOULD be addressed or acknowledged. I mean, I would love it if Cosmo and or DeeJ could please explain the entire process to the community. You tell us that you're listening and that you're bringing these matters to the attention of the developers, but what exactly does that mean? Does ALL the feedback get addressed? Do you (Cosmo/DeeJ) advocate on our behalf so as to represent us to the rest of Bungie? When bringing these topics up to the Development Team, do you convey the same argument/points that we're presenting? Do you give them the links to our posts on here? Is this something that is constantly being made a priority for Bungie or do you all just convene once or twice a week to discuss Player Feedback? If our feedback gets shot down by the team, do you keep pushing the point with them or is it just case closed? Basically, we want to know more about what it is you are personally doing with all of this feedback. TTK is by and large the result of Player Feedback. That much is obvious. So that proves the point that something is at least being done with our input. But then if that is the case, then what is the deal with the really BIG topics?

    • The Feedback forum is like the cross walk button in several places: it isn't hooked up to any wiring and is only there to make you feel like you are having an effect while you are actually powerless.

What bothers me about this, and I was talking about it this morning to someone else, is that THIS is the customer service department. There is no dedicated part for cs. Google it or search through the Activision site and it sends you here. There is never an answer to complaints with its one way feedback. Imagine calling a customer service department for any other company and not getting a reply, see how well that would go down. -blam!- sake, even the local chain of crappy cheap restaurants have a customer service department. Why a company who wants to appeal to millions of customers don't have one is beyond me. It drowns out feedback for parts of the game people might want to know about ie if certain people are experiencing the same rates etc and opens up people who have a problem to the keyboard warriors who view any bad points/experiences on something they like as a personal attack. It was fine for them to use this area to complain when it was stuff they cared about (fixing the game for the past 12 months) but as soon as its something they don't care about, you don't deserve a voice.

        • I think the loss of Year 1 Rewards, ESPECIALLY RAID GEAR, should be added to the list. Thats what made me stop playing in the first place. That was a HUGE slap in the face to people who grinded to have the best gear. I only had a fatebringer for a couple of months before it was left behind! Its good to call Bungie on their shit here, but dont think for a second any actual feedback is relevant to them, or their interests. The only people they address throw them softballs questions,. And when they ask for community feedback, its just another way of us doing their work for them. Ive beta tested this game long enough. YOU KNOW WHAT I WANT. Bungie, if you want this shit storm to go away, offer EVERYONE who wants it, a refund. Freely. Give back some of the goodwill we showed you by working for you all year(AND PAID TO DO SO). But you wont, because youre too uncaring about your fanbase. To you, we are nothing but a gigantic herd of dollar signs running around ready to be exploited. Disgraceful that this is occurring from ,IMO, the developers of the best trilogy there ever was in the FPS Genre. HALO 1, 2, 3. Youve gone full circle, and i cant abide that.

        • I believe the forums are little more than a location for players to vent frustrations. By hosting these forums bungie ensures most of the negative feedback is localized such that the general public remain completely unaware of it. These forums are certainly not intended to be used as a point of contact to engage with users, that much is clear.

Bump. I honestly can't speculate one way or another because their communication with us is so disjointed and practically nonexistent or relevant that it seems like they're automated responses. I feel like this is our story; We are all stuck in a dark hole and DeeJ opens up a little hatch and light floods in, dilating our pupils. DeeJ yells down into the abyss towards the masses "You're gunna love this! Don't worry we respect your time, and you'll be rewarded! Very soon!" DeeJ proceeds to toss napkins into the hatch, only satisfying a few but satiating none. Cozmo soon appears, opening the hatch again, and more frequently. He says "I hear your cries of hunger! I am listening!" Cozmo proceeds to toss spoons into the hatch, so some of us now have the mean to eat the food we have longed for in the darkness. Yet we wait, continuously, and anyone has yet to drop any food. One person named Luke Even came in once, and lowered a pail in the shape of a television, asking for high velocity delivered donations (thrown money). I haven't slept in 21 hours. I feel so inspired. Forgive my loopiness.

              • Ok, I think that it is pretty clear. They do want to know what we are thinking. They have Psych department, and what they read helps them make determinations by comparing them with the data from the game. They want people addicted and this forum helps. The other reason is that they have a Dev department, and they want people to give them ideas about what to add, or do with the game and what better way is there than asking those that are into the game. They give ideas, the devs can use those ideas and never have to pay royalties, or anything except a few dollars a year for the domain and website.

I think we are seeing signs that we're being heard, but there are still too many things that are answered with completely off topic replies. I'm also very curious as to why the Favorites tab becomes unavailable so often. It seems pretty beneficial to Bungie to make it difficult to find and bump posts and it's peculiar that it's only Favorites that seems to disappear.

                    • Really wonder how much they get paid as community managers, because it must be the easiest job in the world (if you do what Deej does, which is next to nothing). Cosmo has gone AWOL, probably being reeducated somewhere, and Deej is so incredibly lazy or highlights issues so minor and mundane in a few words and then just evaporates from the forum. Seriously, what is the purpose of the forums if they don't even respond?

I honestly don't think that the feedback is taken back to development team. Instead feedback is taken back to Activision management so they can decide if it will be included or not. Marty O'Donnel case clearly highlighted that Bungie turned into Activision's puppet with no decision authority... That's why naming Cozmo and Deej as community managers is pretty wrong. They are just the Puppets...

                        • It is very easy my friend, if you want to contain the complains as much as possible you need to have control over that feedback box, for every person they have here using their feedback forums they have one less using another forum where they don't have a way to control it. Here they give people that feeling of " oh I said something now they will read it" while they are somewhere playing pocket billiards like " bitch, please".

                        • I always view the feedback section as in one ear and out the other. They hear what they want to and ignore the rest. Once in awhile Bungie will do something amazing and the majority of the time it's the exact opposite of what the long time community members sugget.

I've been pretty vocal about how the new expansion has shafted the year one gamer. But if I was to be perfectly honest the price is the major issue here. I don't deny bungie has changed lots of things and produced some new content and so can expect people to pay something for that content. Here in the UK it equates to $65 USD which is insane for what you get added to an existing game! The actual comparative price for the UK should be £25 Sterling - which is far more reasonable. So I can see why many Americans here say "it's only $40 bucks - get a job loser" etc, but how enthusiastic would those same people be if it were $65 bucks? And although it would hack me off to accept the year one weapon farce, I know I would soon earn (lol) new more powerful weapons and be lost in the fun and frustrations of the new raid So come on Activision - Sort your pricing out. It's digital download, you have no shipping costs - Drop TTK to £25 and I'm in!

                            • I've wondered this for a long time myself. Lots of devs talking about how they read this forum, how it's the best place to reach them. Heck, even Mark Noseworthy in an interview said something along the lines of 'I checked the forums last night before goin to bed'. And while I'm all inclined to believe that, I really am, why is it that Deej and Cosmo only seem to respond to a thread, maayyyybeee once every other week? And I'm not talking about just responding to the safer posts, I mean they're practically silent, save for the weekly update. And while I'll admit Cosmo has done a better job and seems to be around more than Deej (which can be expected, since it seems Deej has become an all around PR guy at this point), they're still mostly silent. I'm not sure if I have EVER, seen Cosmo or Deej responding to posts in this forum. I'm not trying to paint these guys as apathetic, honestly. It would serve us a lot better to know if they really are just too busy at the office. But here's the thing. I thought Cosmo was brought in specifically to monitor these forums. Maybe there's more going on in the background than we realize, and I'm too happy to believe that. But I can't shake the feeling that something/ or someone, limits them from responding, and you're absolutely right OP. Why even have this forum, especially when this topic is at the very top of the list, and we don't even get a word..? Anything, seriously, even just something as benign as, "we are aware of your concerns, and will keep them in discussions with the devs." And I don't mean on every post, but when the feedback trending page has 5 posts about issues non TTK players are currently facing, all at the very top of the list, and you hear NOTHING from these guys...idk...it just makes you wonder, what's the point? Communication works both ways...I don't want to hear that you're listening 3 months down the road in a vidoc for the next DLC. I don't want to hear how much you guys were totally listening over these last couple months. Change takes time, we get that. We're not expecting overnight fixes. Just a simple nod in our direction saying, "we got it, we hear you"...is that too much to ask? -Ignorant rant over

That seems to be there mentality anyways because they have shown all they care for is your money not their fanbase as people they want to support and provide a great service to But only as $ signs that have paid or have not And while people keep paying them and buying new dlcs they don't have to care even though they honestly should let me elude to how I perceive bungies treatment to their customers or playerbase New DLC customers The only things we have seen from bungie show me this type of situation Oh you have payed for are new content ??? Ok great welcome aboard!! Oh you have complaints?? Well to dam bad go talk to a brick wall!! Non new DLC customers You haven't paid for the new content?!? Ok -blam!- every single one of you!! Even though you've been loyal fans for a year screw off and your not getting any answers! Also honestly they haven't allowed posting on the main posts of the weekly updates for quite some time now which I feel is a total screw u to the whole destiny player base and showing that they don't give a shit about what the playerbase has to say. Sincerely up yours bungie

                              • It's that whole "communication" thing that you have brought up time and time again. Much like yourself, I'm not that satisfied with "I will pass this to the devs". It's becoming Cosmos' version of "soon". They don't have to give us the step by step progress of the idea, but it would be nice to know the priority level and expectations. For example, the guardian facial hair, that idea has been around since the beta. They could let us know if it is, or isn't, going to happen before Destiny 2. There is also, and more importantly, communicating the reason and logic behind their decisions. How come Y1 gear is locked at its current stats? Why aren't Y1 activities given given anymore purpose? Why isn't TTK pricing correctly converted overseas? Why so little in the way of content for an expansion? We get silence or given a marketing pitch, and we are left to draw our conclusions from their actions. Our conclusions turn into accusations, and Bungie's silence only confirms it.
