Actually they seem to be, both Sony and Microsoft have been hinting at pulling out of consoles. I don't have any links about this but I've read a few things on it.

However Xbox is unprofitable by rich tycoon board member standards, and the board of directors for Microsoft would be happy to try to spin it off as it's own entity and sell it.
