There is a difference between understanding the way things are done and then there is blindly supporting those things regardless of context. As someone who has played expansion based games all my life this is how it has always worked so I have no issue with it so long as they provide adequate variety in return. If you are new to the concept of how expansions work i can understand the anger and confusion, but try not to make too many assumptions there.
