Do you people not understand how progress works?
They are going to increase the level cap to 50 people.
That means that you won't be able to keep your level 32-34 gear. Just like you didn't get to keep using the russian rifle you get in the beginning of the game forever and ever and had to move on to a new gun.
You don't get to choose when you stop progressing or get to demand that nothing changes. People talk about gamer entitlement and for the most part I think its bullshit, but what I am seeing here is the definition of entitlement. You all want all the new content , but you don't wanna give up what you already have. You demand that you get to keep using the same stuff forever unless you find something better.
Thats not how games works. Especially games that are expansion based.
When the Reaper of Souls expansion came to Diablo 3 you didn't get to keep using your old gear. You had to move on to the new content.
When WoW releases a new expansion you don't get to keep using your old gear.
Whe CoD/Halo releases a new game you don't get to keep the gear you were already using in the previous installment.
This is an ACTUAL expansion for Destiny. Not the hollow husks that we got like HoW and TDB yet even THEY forced us to move on to new raid gear and new weapons.
But you think that TTK is somehow different? Despite the fact that it will supposedly contain more than double what HoW and TDB had combined?
Exotics will of course be able to be upgraded, but if you think you should able to be using a Fatebringer (A Level 30 Weapon) and it still be JUST as good as it ever was at Level 50 then you people are out of your minds.
I understand that some people are attached to their weapons and I also understand that some of you still haven't even GOTTEN the weapons in question yet so you don't wanna see that effort go to waste but this is how it has ALWAYS worked when it comes to expansions. Year 1 gear WILL be pushed to the background especially now that they are even releasing new gun makers. Do you really think they would go through all of this trouble and effort of creating all this new content, but still let everyone use and abuse the old stuff as well?
EDIT: Just to be clear I am speaking about PvE exclusively. I know that in PvP you will obviously be able to use whatever you want. I am talking about PvE where numerical stats actually matter.
EDIT 2: Also just to be clear I am not claiming they are gonna REMOVE the old guns. I am simply saying that by increasing the level cap they will be forcing you to REPLACE the old guns.

With bungie nerfing blackhammer, i have a feeling you will be able to use old guns. It might not be easy as using an etheric light though.
-
Well, it would have made sense if weapon tuning 2.0 were released now, but since they're not doing it until right before TTK releases in September, who know what's up Bungie's sleeve. All I know is they need to clue us in on this f'ing little secret they have. Why would telling us if our current legendaries will be able to ascend beyond 365 be a huge thing???? I mean, holy shit, its not like we're disclosing top secret info here!!!!
-
My dry rot 32 will still be useful in TTK.
-
Didn't read your whole thing, get what your saying, but if anything, at least increase vault space so we can store them and continue using our old gear and weapons for what we use then in now, but newer content will need us to use newer gear and weapons. Fair right?
-
It's ignorant & frankly stupid for you to imply that new gear can't come into the game without makin old gear irrelevant.. If they would actually out some god damned weapons that were worthwhile to use, some people would retire their vision, fatebringer, fang, foil, word..but they haven't. The majority of the weapons / gear they've brought in both DLCs was garbage. There was, of course, a few exceptions. They should making the old shit irrelevant by actually bringing better shit in...not by forcing the players to be at a big disadvantage if they wanna continue using them. They're forcing their players to only be able to play on their terms. that's stupid. unless they bring in weapons that are actually going to one-up my VoG weapons, I'll continue using them until I'm actually being punished by doing so. just like everyone continued using them throughout the dark below. It's an ass-backwards philosophy to make old content irrelevant in order to make new content look better. that's ridiculous. You don't have to destroy the old shit to bring in quality content. we'll see how much TTK actually brings. We don't KNOW it's going to be twice as much as both DLCs. We don't KNOW the level cap either. It's definitely not 50, & Bungie has already confirmed that. Most of your post was based on opinion & speculation..Yeah, we do feel entitled to be able to use the gear we've grinded so hard for since day one. that's not some false sense of entitlement either, that's the truth..we raided & raided back to back across multiple characters every single week to acquire what we wanted. we are entitled to be able to continue using it.
-
I think everyone is just snakebit over the fact that the weapons have gotten progressively worse since the initial launch/raid. So why should the next set of weapons be any different? I'd be more than happy to drop my first year weapons for new equal or better weapons, but Bungie's track record of giving us the next best thing (more like the next worst thing) doesn't give me much hope. This is why people want to hold on to what they have.
-
Edited by Cheesesteak21: 7/27/2015 4:53:32 AMI'd be OK with moving on if bungie made weapons worth moving on to! I Had no problems going from predyths revenge to black hammer... oh wait. I will be keeping 1 Fatebringer around just in case bungie needs to buy good pr with another etheric light situation or for running strikes and other crap with.
-
Having guns we worked hard to acquire stay relevant is quite reasonable to ask, what I think is crazy is the notion that a DLC should make anything that came before it irrelevant. It hurts nothing to let us upgrade the old ones to be just as good as the new, and it helps to add variety and keep things interesting for everyone. The people who found something they like and never want to use anything else don't have to, the people who want to use all the shiny new toys can do that too... I fail to see the problem.
-
People stick with their legendaries due to the fact that bungie has repeatedly shown a lack of knowledge when it comes to creating powerful weapons worth the amount of effort required to obtain them. When the do make a weapon do the correct amount of damage, people love to use it. Honestly, when was the last time you used the rarest tier of primary weapon (exotic) in PvE? There are 0 elemental primaries in the game under the exotic category. This is COMPLETELY stupid. There is no incentive to use a primary exotic over say a Gjallarhorn, or an Icebreaker, because they don't do elemental damage, and are useless in end game activities for killing enemies at a relatively quick rate.
-
Seems like you don't understand progress. The weapons should progress (get better) with each expansion but they don't. That's why players want to keep year one weapons. Double the weapons in TTK? What's the difference between a 2 foot pile of shit and a 1 foot pile of shit? Nothing. They are both piles of shit.
-
Etheric light only ascends gear from year 1, not year 2. I personally hate etheric light, doesn't let me enjoy the new weapons in HoW, since I can just ascend VoC, Fatebringer, WoC, no point in using any Other weapons.
-
....i still think carrying D1 gear throughout its life is more feasible than just rendering it completely obsolete half way through. D1 gear stays in D1. D2 comes around and we start at D1's max level(if we still have data from then) and maybe a few choice goodies to show that we were there at the beginning, but all our gear(sans exotics) is gone, allowing us to discover what the 2nd GAME has in store. A more feasible and forgiving option honestly....
-
My argument is why not keep them ? Why not add to the already large armory of weapons and gear that destiny already has ? Would it not make the game 10x better if anyone was able to get any gun the devs ever made ? Maybe it's just me, but seems dumb to only have a couple of weapon sets that everyone can get.
-
Level 50 cap isn't confirmed.
-
listen bitch. the kvhostov 7G-02 legacy will live on forever. fvcking h8ers
-
The solution is so simple....add elemental damage at every primary weapon and problem solved
-
Honestly all people who cry are the people holding on to vog weapons for dear life are the most annoying. Like any mmo or rpg your gear has progress so get over it, and keep your fatebringer in the past.
-
If I can't ascend my gear and weapons from year one I might not buy.
-
When you ascend something it even says to year 1. Uh oh
-
I don't know why they're worrying about black hammer NERF if it's going to be obsolete in TTK
-
Honestly I hope they just get rid of this light level crap and just do xp leveling system all the way to the new cap. Just make new armor and weapons have reqs up to the new levels instead of just up to 20 or 30. No more "base" levels.
-
Edited by FantasticMrFox: 7/26/2015 1:56:03 PMI am guessing they will make all old gear ascendable. Doesn't make sense to work hard for exotic bounties etc or raid gear then make it obsolete.I am pretty sure they will do this.
-
If they actually give us weapons worth moving on for then I'm fine with it HoW didn't give us that neither did TDB
-
Am i the only one who kept the russian auto rifle (khvostov) to use in the crucible?
-
Edited by lietenantdan: 7/26/2015 2:31:37 PMnever mind

The only problem i have is with trials stuff, like we just got them, so I'm wondering if they will increase the stuff on them and continue trials? Or will it be done?
