Oryx Hard Mode Strategy

So as many of you have realized by this point, Oryx is a biotch to kill (both on normal and hard modes). Having killed him on hard mode a few times now, I want to help everyone here do the same. I'll try to do that by introducing a strategy that seems to work better than others. Note: I did not develop this strategy (credit goes to reddit users jcgill & yuhatemepvp) however I do it a little differently than the original strat. Link to original strategy: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3q64cb/spoiler_easy_oryxhm_strategy_popular_post_was/ First of all, check your gear. Light Level 311+ HIGHLY recommended This fight is set at 320 light, meaning at 310 or less light, you take a hit to your damage output and damage received. Being 311+ helps a TON- I ran 3 raids up to sisters and then piled all the gear into my main to get to 311 for this fight. Touch of Malice (ToM) and a 305+ sniper are MUST haves for this fight. Synths are great to have too, because ammo seems to drop about as often as snow in Georgia. Also, try to get at least 1 titan in your group- the bubble makes things much easier in pretty much every encounter in this raid. Second, know the Normal Mode strategy I put this here because you need to kill Oryx on normal first (duh). Now, to the real point of this post- the strategy. There are 3 roles in this fight, same as normal mode- Runner, Floaters, and Platforms. Runner The runner needs to be fast and reliable at jumping. A good measure for the runner's speed is that he should be on the Spark before the last Ogre spawns. Floaters Here's where the strategy changes- the floaters (which should be a dedicated floater and the guy on the platform under the spark) jump up to the daughter platform opposite of Oryx. Their goal is to keep the ogres' aggro on them and damage ogres down to about 50% health. DO NOT KILL THEM. This is very important. If the runner is getting shot by an ogre, one of the floaters should draw that ogre's aggro off the runner. A defender titan is best suited for the dedicated float role, because always having a bubble on the daughter platform helps a ton. Platforms Platform guys only jump on the platform and DO NOT SHOOT AT ANYTHING. If you shoot, you draw aggro from the ogres, who will burn you in seconds. Now, when the runner grabs the spark, he should announce it to the team, and everyone should jump up to the daughter platform opposite of Oryx with the floaters. To avoid being run over by the ship and beign murdered by ogres, follow the green arrows in this shitty drawing I made: http://imgur.com/UoqZefU. When you are up there, whittle down your ogre some more if needed, then stagger Oryx as usual. After he staggers, you have about 30 SECONDS to detonate the bombs. This is more than enough time, so keep a cool head and do the following: ( The runner & dedicated float should continuously shoot Oryx after stagger.) 1. Kill the Vessel. He should be near the daughter platform. 2. Damage your ogre some more if needed, leave him with 10 % health, then say READY!. 3. After all four are READY, kill the ogres and jump down to detonate the bombs. Note: if a bomb is really far away, try to have a Warlock with self res get it. Also, if bombs are over lapping- DO NOT STAND IN BOTH BOMBS, only get in your bomb. 4. Runner jumps down with everyone else in between the daughter platforms while the dedicated float continues shooting Oryx on the platform. When the runner resumes shooting Oryx, the float jumps down with the runner. 5. When your bomb detonates, run back to the runner in the middle. That pretty much covers all the key differences in the hard mode strategy. Sorry I don't have a video right now, I'll add one as soon as I clear it next time. There are videos in the reddit post above that you can check out. I hope this help some of you guys out, let me know what you think! -kadease
