Sword of a God - Part 3 (END)

[u]Link to previous 2 chapters at the bottom[/u] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sword's energy continued to ripple, its dark current arcing out in all directions as it floated a few feet of the ground. Its green disgusting glow bathed my weak and damaged body. [i]We didn't know[/i], but we should have. [i]We didn't know[/i] and that is why this happened. Or maybe I just wasn't strong enough, my body too frail, my speed too slow, my light too [i]dim[/i]. The Prince walked up to my dying body and laughed. It laughed and laughed and laughed. I had killed its 2 other brothers, their corpses long disintegrated. I had decimated his kin, hundreds had fallen to me in this room alone. Now he stood before me threatening to kill mine. He was dragging along my companion's cold body, blood dripping from her wounds. The ethereal glow she emanated all but gone. I was too weak now to save her, the light had faded from me. [i]The sword. The [b]DAMN[/b] sword.[/i] At first touch it seemed safe but we didn't know. It was draining me of my light slowly. Each swing making it harder to swing again. I had crushed them all with it and now it came back to bite me. And we were so close. Now it is too late. The sword has taken its toll on me. We failed. I could not kill the last prince. I could not destroy the sword and now I cannot save her. She will die in front of my eyes, and I will be helpless. Then I [i]too[/i] will die. The Prince lifted her by her hair, and readied his blade. I didn't want to look, but I could not turn away. Tears were welling up in my eyes, memories of our adventures together now flooding my brain. I could not think of anything else but how I had failed her. How I had failed us all. But I didn't know. He reached the highest point of his swing and his blade came flying back. Time slowed as his blade began nearing her neck. I let out a soft cry, my voice muted by the pain, my throat choking from the sorrow. [b]Shlck[/b]. Her body fell to the floor. But her head remained in his hands. [i]In his disgusting Hive hands.[/i] I was broken. The warlock's headless corpse lay beside me. I never realized how strong a bond I shared with her until it was severed. The tears were flowing now and I let out a pained cry, louder now and more hateful. "AAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!" The Prince lifted his blade, holding it facing downwards. He stood right above me as he brought the blade down into my chest. My screams, silenced. My light, gone. End. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well that was a short series. Thanks for the support on the first couple chapters.
