The Last Word and the Thorn - Part III

Dredgen hunted. He hunted fallen and guardians alike. Sometimes even defenseless people. It was a frosty morning on the seventh of the fifth moon. A curious-looking group of humans eyed the Thorn at Dredgen Yor’s side. One of them, a scruffy-looking male, seemed mesmerized by its design. He approached Yor, looking at Thorn before acknowledging his presence. “Can I see what you got there?” asked the man. By this time Yor had begun to walk away, but the man was not ready to give up just yet. “Yer cannon… can I see it?” the man asked more aggressively. “I know you?” responded Yor, beginning to despise his existence. After a long argument, he showed the man what he was capable of. The two men and woman with the strange man lay dead, and the man was ordered onto his knees. Yor enjoyed hearing the man plead for his life while he held him at gunpoint. But he looked at the ground around him. Two bodies, both men. Where was the third? Then he saw it. A ghost, watching it all go down. He wouldn’t give this ghost a chance to resurrect the woman he now knew was a guardian. He began chasing down the ghost, and fired a single bullet at it with his Thorn. But alas, it escaped into the skies, and the other man took his opportunity to run. By the time Yor remembered the man, he was already out of Thorn’s range. So he let him run, and was back to the wilds to search for lives to haunt.
