Now in PVP, the Gunslinger is amazing. But, in PVE it is lacking quite a bit.
So, How do you make it better in PVE but not OP in the Crucible?
Well, Here are some of my ideas.
First, I think KEYHOLE could use a buff. When I first saw it, I thought it would be the ideal choice. But, because the Key Hole only damages enemies "Directly Behind" the target, It never killed more then 2 enemies. Or at least, I never was able to. I feel that the Key Hole should make the Bullets fired from Golden Gun travel just as far as if the Gun was fired without any enemy in the way at all. I mean the Range is not infinite on it as is. The farther the enemy the less damage the Golden Gun does. So I don't think that piercing will make it to OP in the Crucible.
Next, Combustion. Now, I was not able to use combustion so I don't know what to expect from the damage output. But, if it is the same as the Solar Grenade, then I think it should also catch enemies damaged by the explosion on fire as well. This would increase the Crowd control a little better, and it wouldn't give it to much of a boost in the Crucible. I say that for two reasons. 1) the DOT from solar damage is minor, It doesn't do much of any damage at all even with a very well placed grenade. And, 2) If you happen to be standing next to a guy who was shot by the Golden Gun, odds are, you will be the next one shot.
And my last thought. As a Solar based Sub Class, the Hunter is using Solar energy. So, why not make it have reviving capabilities? Rather than shoot an enemy, be able to shoot a downed Guardian, and revive them instantly. Then, you would be limited and have to make choices on your shots. You can shoot an fallen Ally and lose a shot, or you could use all 3 for damage, and hope you can make it to the Ally before you die. I think this would make the Gunslinger a much better option for PVE as being able to heal from a distance could be invaluable in Raids and Strikes.

How to make Gunslinger better in PVE? That's pretty simple to answer. Just play as a Titan Defender instead!

It's simple. Make the DOT on the first hunter nade slightly better damaging and give the golden gun the ability to land critical hits. Gunslinger is a weapons class and has many perks that effect both normal guns and the golden gun. Right now GG feels weak in PvE because it deals flat damage. If we give it critical's when shooting weak points it gives it higher DPS at the cost of demanding accuracy.

Blade Dancer FTW

I think its is fine as it is...But I hope they make an exotic that gives you extra perks for the golden gun....

I can still be a medic of some kind. Also gives us choice. This is a area I personally feel destiny is lacking. +1 buddy.

I loved the hunter class, but the auto rifle and pulse rifle drop chance is lower, so it's harder to get good guns

Nah. The solar thing with healing and reviving I dont. like hunters are a meat and potatoes dps class, also you could just save your super and insta revive ppl. Not what bungie intended im sure. I think gunslinger is fine in pve, just because you dont have an all powerfull room clearing super(#novabombtotheface) doesn't mean its useless you can pick off key targets with precision. As for the solar dots. Would t worry about it. I yhink the dot is more for stopping shield regen than damage

Edited by Faptimus Prime: 8/26/2014 4:43:20 PMI think Gunslinger will be ok and still the number 1 class in PVP. Some of the gunslinger perks give bonuses to all weapon damage and there is a peice of exotic armor you can equip that gives a 4th shot on the golden gun!!!! It'll be a boss killer.

We haven't seen everything yet, if we go off descriptions and assume they do exactly what they say... Keyhole+combustion could potentially be the answer if you can hit even 2 enemies with 1 GG shot, and both of them explode... Depending how much dmg the explosions do, could be devastating. Another thing is the hunter gunslinger is only class with perks that buff the weapon with chain of woe and gunslingers trance, so utilizing these buffs in a wpn build would be key The weakness is the grenade, hands down, other than that it's pretty solid and balanced in pvp and pve.

I see you referenced one of Datto's videos. I'm a big fan of his work. Have you seen one of his latest videos about what class is the best? He makes an excellent point in it. I played Gunslinger my entire time in the PS3 beta. If you watch the video, he states that while the gunslinger has probably the weakest super in PvE, it's the only class with passive abilities that buff gunplay by increasing reload speed and stability by getting precision kills. Given that 90% of this game is shooting guns, I don't think it's fair to base them on their slightly subpar super when they have slight upgrades in the gun and having a ranged melee ability. I led in kills in every strike I played. I don't know if I was matchmade with poor players but the only ones that came close were other hunters. I don't think we're as subpar PvE as some would like to believe.

nothing really, I used my hunter exclusive in PvE and loved every moment of it, plan to run one all the way to max level in full release.

Edited by Whaleteeth: 8/29/2014 4:01:43 AMI think the grenade just needs to be better. It's sooo bad, and the swarm grenade is even worse. Hopefully we can do some nifty things with the trip mine. And a lot of the classes interesting things come later so we didn't get a lot of their abilities in the beta like having a second knife or knives set people on fire and that sort of idea.
